Éxodo 10

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Dijo Yahveh a Moisés: «Ve a Faraón, porque he endurecido su corazón y el corazón de sus siervos, para obrar estas señales mías en medio de ellos;	1 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Go to Pharaoh, for I have made him and his officials stubborn, to displaythese signs of mine among them;
2 y para que puedas contar a tu hijo, y al hijo de tu hijo, cómo me divertí con Egipto y las señales que realicé entre ellos, y sepáis que yo soy Yahveh.»	2 so that you can tel your sons and your grandsons how I made fools of the Egyptians and what signs Iperformed among them, so that you would know that I am Yahweh.'
3 Fueron, pues, Moisés y Aarón donde Faraón y le dijeron: «Así dice Yahveh, el Dios de los hebreos: ¿Hasta cuándo te resistirás a humillarte ante mí? Deja salir a mi pueblo para que me dé culto.	3 Moses and Aaron then went to Pharaoh and said to him, 'Yahweh, God of the Hebrews, says this,"How much longer wil you refuse to submit to me? Let my people go and worship me.
4 Si te niegas a dejar salir a mi pueblo, mira que mañana traeré langostas sobre tu territorio;	4 Or, if you refuse to let my people go, tomorrow I shall send locusts into your country.
5 y cubrirán la superficie del país, de suerte que ni podrá verse el suelo. Devorarán lo que os quedó de la granizada, y comerán todos los árboles que os crecen en el campo.	5 They wil cover the surface of the soil so that the soil cannot be seen. They wil devour the remainderof what has escaped, of what you have been left after the hail; they wil devour al your trees growing in thefields;
6 Llenarán tus casas, las casas de todos los egipcios, como nunca vieron tus padres, ni los padres de tus padres, desde el día en que existieron sobre la tierra hasta el día de hoy.» Y retirándose salió de la presencia de Faraón.	6 they will fil your houses, al your officials' houses and al the Egyptians' houses -- something yourancestors and your ancestors' ancestors have never seen from the day they first appeared on earth until now." 'Then he turned on his heel and left Pharaoh's presence.
7 Dijeron entonces a Faraón sus siervos: «¿Hasta cuándo ha de ser este hombre causa de nuestra ruina? Deja salir a esa gente y que den culto a Yahveh, su Dios. ¿Te darás cuenta a tiempo de que Egipto se pierde?»	7 At which, Pharaoh's officials said to him, 'How much longer are we to be tricked by this fellow? Let thepeople go and worship Yahweh their God. Do you not final y realise that Egypt is on the brink of ruin?'
8 Hicieron, pues, volver a Moisés y a Aarón a la presencia de Faraón; el cual les dijo: «Id a dar culto a Yahveh, vuestro Dios. ¿Quiénes van a ir?»	8 So Moses and Aaron were brought back to Pharaoh who said to them, 'Go and worship Yahweh yourGod. But who are to go?'
9 Respondió Moisés: «Saldremos con nuestros niños y nuestros ancianos, con nuestros hijos y nuestras hijas, con nuestras ovejas y nuestras vacadas; porque es nuestra fiesta de Yahveh.»	9 Moses replied, 'We shal take our young men and our old men, we shall take our sons and daughters,our flocks and our herds, since we are going to hold a feast in Yahweh's honour.'
10 Contestóles: «¡Así esté Yahveh con vosotros como voy a dejaros salir a vosotros con vuestros pequeños! Ved cómo a la vista están vuestras malas intenciones.	10 Pharaoh said, 'So I must let you go with your wives and children! May Yahweh preserve you! Plainly,you are up to no good!
11 No será así; salid si queréis los varones solos y dad culto a Yahveh, pues eso es lo que buscabais.» Y fueron echados de la presencia de Faraón.	11 Oh no! You men may go and worship Yahweh, since that was your original request.' With that, theywere driven from Pharaoh's presence.
12 Yahveh dijo a Moisés: «Extiende tu mano sobre la tierra de Egipto para que venga la langosta; que suba sobre el país de Egipto y coma toda la hierba del país, todo lo que dejó el granizo.»	12 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Stretch out your hand over Egypt for the locusts. Let them invade Egyptand devour whatever is growing in the country, whatever the hail has left!'
13 Moisés extendió su cayado sobre la tierra de Egipto; y Yahveh hizo soplar el solano sobre el país todo aquel día y toda la noche. Y cuando amaneció, el solano había traído la langosta.	13 Moses stretched his staff over Egypt, and over the country Yahweh sent an east wind which blew althat day and night. By morning, the east wind had brought the locusts.
14 La langosta invadió todo el país de Egipto, y se posó en todo el territorio egipcio, en cantidad tan grande como nunca había habido antes tal plaga de langosta ni la habría después.	14 The locusts invaded the whole of Egypt and settled al over Egypt, in great swarms; never had therebeen so many locusts before, nor would there be again.
15 Cubrieron toda la superficie del país hasta oscurecer la tierra; devoraron toda la hierba del país y todos los frutos de los árboles que el granizo había dejado; no quedó nada verde ni en los árboles ni en las hierbas del campo en toda la tierra de Egipto.	15 They covered the surface of the ground till the land was devastated. They devoured whatever wasgrowing in the fields and al the fruit on the trees that the hail had left. No green was left on tree or plant in thefields anywhere in Egypt.
16 Entonces Faraón llamó a toda prisa a Moisés y a Aarón, y dijo: «He pecado contra Yahveh, vuestro Dios, y contra vosotros.	16 Pharaoh sent urgently for Moses and Aaron and said, 'I have sinned against Yahweh your God andagainst you.
17 Ahora, pues, perdonad por favor mi pecado, siquiera por esta vez; rogad a Yahveh, vuestro Dios, que aparte de mí al menos esta mortandad.»	17 Now forgive my sin, I implore you, just this once, and entreat Yahweh your God to turn this deadlything away from me.'
18 Salió Moisés de la presencia de Faraón y rogó a Yahveh.	18 When Moses left Pharaoh's presence he prayed to Yahweh,
19 Yahveh hizo que soplara con gran violencia un viento del mar que se llevó la langosta y la echó al mar de Suf. No quedó ni una langosta en todo el territorio de Egipto.	19 and Yahweh changed the wind into a west wind, very strong, which carried the locusts away andswept them into the Sea of Reeds. There was not one locust left in the whole of Egypt.
20 Pero Yahveh endureció el corazón de Faraón, que no dejó salir a los israelitas.	20 But Yahweh made Pharaoh stubborn, and he did not let the Israelites go.
21 Yahveh dijo a Moisés: «Extiende tu mano hacia el cielo, y haya sobre la tierra de Egipto tinieblas que puedan palparse.»	21 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Stretch out your hand towards heaven, and let darkness, darkness sothick that it can be felt, cover Egypt.'
22 Extendió, pues, Moisés su mano hacia el cielo, y hubo por tres días densas tinieblas en todo el país de Egipto.	22 So Moses stretched out his hand towards heaven, and for three days there was thick darkness overthe whole of Egypt.
23 No se veían unos a otros, y nadie se levantó de su sitio por espacio de tres días, mientras que todos los israelitas tenían luz en sus moradas.	23 No one could see anyone else or move about for three days, but al the Israelites did have lightwhere they were living.
24 Llamó Faraón a Moisés y dijo: «Id y dad culto a Yahveh; que se queden solamente vuestras ovejas y vuestras vacadas. También vuestros pequeños podrán ir con vosotros.»	24 Pharaoh summoned Moses and said, 'Go and worship Yahweh, but your flocks and herds are to stayhere. Your wives and children can go with you too.'
25 Respondió Moisés: «Nos tienes que conceder también sacrificios y holocaustos, para que los ofrendemos a Yahveh, nuestro Dios.	25 Moses said, 'But now you must give us sacrifices and burnt offerings to offer to Yahweh our God.
26 También nuestro ganado ha de venir con nosotros. No quedará ni una pezuña; porque de ellos hemos de tomar para dar culto a Yahveh, nuestro Dios. Y no sabemos todavía qué hemos de ofrecer a Yahveh hasta que lleguemos allá.»	26 And our livestock will go with us too; not a hoof wil be left behind; for we may need animals fromthese to worship Yahweh our God; for until we get there we ourselves cannot tell how we are to worshipYahweh.'
27 Yahveh endureció el corazón de Faraón, que no quiso dejarles salir.	27 But Yahweh made Pharaoh stubborn, and he refused to let them go.
28 Y dijo Faraón a Moisés: «¡Retírate de mi presencia! ¡Guárdate de volver a ver mi rostro, pues el día en que veas mi rostro, morirás!»	28 Pharaoh said to Moses, 'Out of my sight! Be sure you never see my face again, for the next time yousee my face you die!'
29 Respondió Moisés: «Tú lo has dicho: no volveré a ver tu rostro.»	29 Moses then said, 'You yourself have said it. I shal never see your face again.'
