BIBLIA	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Partió Israel con todas sus pertenencias y llegó a Berseba, donde hizo sacrificios al Dios de su padre Isaac.	1 Israel set out with all that was his. When he arrived at Beer-sheba, he offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.
2 Y dijo Dios a Israel en visión nocturna: «¡Jacob, Jacob!» - «Heme aquí», respondió. -	2 There God, speaking to Israel in a vision by night, called, "Jacob! Jacob!" "Here I am," he answered.
3 «Yo soy Dios, el Dios de tu padre; no temas bajar a Egipto, porque allí te haré una gran nación.	3 Then he said: "I am God, the God of your father. Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for there I will make you a great nation.
4 Y bajaré contigo a Egipto y yo mismo te subiré también. José te cerrará los ojos.»	4 Not only will I go down to Egypt with you; I will also bring you back here, after Joseph has closed your eyes."
5 Jacob partió de Berseba y los hijos de Israel montaron a su padre Jacob, así como a sus pequeños y mujeres, en las carretas que había mandado Faraón para trasportarle.	5 So Jacob departed from Beer-sheba, and the sons of Israel put their father and their wives and children on the wagons that Pharaoh had sent for his transport.
6 También tomaron sus ganados y la hacienda lograda en Canaán, y fueron a Egipto, Jacob y toda su descendencia con él.	6 They took with them their livestock and the possessions they had acquired in the land of Canaan. Thus Jacob and all his descendants migrated to Egypt.
7 Sus hijos y nietos, sus hijas y nietas: a toda su descendencia se la llevó consigo a Egipto.	7 His sons and his grandsons, his daughters and his granddaughters--all his descendants--he took with him to Egypt.
8 Estos son los nombres de los hijos de Israel que entraron en Egipto: Jacob y sus hijos. El primogénito de Jacob: Rubén,	8 These are the names of the Israelites, Jacob and his descendants, who migrated to Egypt. Reuben, Jacob's first-born,
9 y los hijos de Rubén: Henoc, Pallú, Jesrón y Karmí;	9 and the sons of Reuben: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.
10 los hijos de Simeón: Yemuel, Yamín, Ohad, Yakín, Sójar y Saúl, hijo de la cananea;	10 The sons of Simeon: Nemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar, and Shaul, son of a Canaanite woman.
11 los hijos de Leví: Guersón, Quehat y Merarí;	11 The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
12 los hijos de Judá: Er, Onán, Selá, Peres y Zéraj, (¡pero Er y Onán ya habían muerto en Canaán!) y los hijos de Peres: Jesrón y Jamul;	12 The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah--but Er and Onan had died in the land of Canaan; and the sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.
13 los hijos de Isacar: Tolá, Puvá, Yasub y Simrón;	13 The sons of Issachar: Tola, Puah, Jashub, and Shimron.
14 los hijos de Zabulón: Séred, Elón, Yajleel.	14 The sons of Zebulun: Sered, Elon, and Jahleel.
15 Estos fueron los hijos que Lía había dado a Jacob en Paddán Aram, y también su hija Dina. Sus hijos y sus hijas eran en total 33 personas.	15 These were the sons whom Leah bore to Jacob in Paddan-aram, along with his daughter Dinah--thirty-three persons in all, male and female.
16 Los hijos de Gad: Sefón, Jagguí, Suní, Esbón, Erí, Arodí y Arelí.	16 The sons of Gad: Zephon, Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arod, and Areli.
17 Los hijos de Aser: Yimná, Yisvá, Yisví, Beriá y Séraj, hermana de ellos. Hijos de Beriá: Jéber y Malkiel.	17 The sons of Asher: Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, and Beriah, with their sister Serah; and the sons of Beriah: Heber and Malchiel.
18 Estos son los hijos de Zilpá, la que Labán diera a su hija Lía; ella engendró para Jacob estas dieciséis personas.	18 These were the descendants of Zilpah, whom Laban had given to his daughter Leah; these she bore to Jacob--sixteen persons in all.
19 Los hijos de Raquel, mujer de Jacob: José y Benjamín.	19 The sons of Jacob's wife Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.
20 A José le nacieron en Egipto Manasés y Efraím, de Asnat, hija de Poti Fera, sacerdote de On.	20 In the land of Egypt Joseph became the father of Manasseh and Ephraim, whom Asenath, daughter of Potiphera, priest of Heliopolis, bore to him.
21 Los hijos de Benjamín: Belá, Béker, Asbel, Guerá, Naamán, Ejí, Ros, Muppim, Juppim y Ard.	21 The sons of Benjamin: Bela, Becher, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ahiram, Shupham, Hupham, and Ard.
22 Estos son los hijos que Raquel dio a Jacob. En total catorce personas.	22 These were the sons whom Rachel bore to Jacob--fourteen persons in all.
23 Los hijos de Dan: Jusim.	23 The sons of Dan: Hushim.
24 Los hijos de Neftalí: Yajseel, Guní, Yéser y Sillem.	24 The sons of Naphtali: Jahzeel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem.
25 Estos son los hijos de Bilhá, la que Labán diera a su hija Raquel, y que aquélla engendró para Jacob: en total siete personas.	25 These were the sons of Bilhah, whom Laban had given to his daughter Rachel; these she bore to Jacob--seven persons in all.
26 Todas las personas que entraron con Jacob en Egipto, nacidas de sus entrañas, - salvo las mujeres de los hijos de Jacob - hacían un total de 66 personas.	26 Jacob's people who migrated to Egypt--his direct descendants, not counting the wives of Jacob's sons--numbered sixty-six persons in all.
27 Los hijos de José, que le habían nacido en Egipto, eran dos. Todas las personas de la casa de Jacob que entraron en Egipto eran setenta.	27 Together with Joseph's sons who were born to him in Egypt--two persons--all the people comprising Jacob's family who had come to Egypt amounted to seventy persons in all.
28 Israel mandó a Judá por delante a donde José, para que éste le precediera a Gosen: y llegaron al país de Gosen.	28 Israel had sent Judah ahead to Joseph, so that he might meet him in Goshen. On his arrival in the region of Goshen,
29 José engancho su carroza y subió a Gosen, al encuentro de su padre Israel; y viéndole se echó a su cuello y estúvose llorando sobre su cuello.	29 Joseph hitched the horses to his chariot and rode to meet his father Israel in Goshen. As soon as he saw him, he flung himself on his neck and wept a long time in his arms.
30 Y dijo Israel a José: «Ahora ya puedo morir, después de haber visto tu rostro, pues que tú vives todavía.»	30 And Israel said to Joseph, "At last I can die, now that I have seen for myself that Joseph is still alive."
31 José dijo a sus hermanos y a la familia de su padre: «Voy a subir a avisar a Faraón y decirle: “Han venido a mí mis hermanos y la casa de mi padre que estaban en Canaán.	31 Joseph then said to his brothers and his father's household: "I will go and inform Pharaoh, telling him: 'My brothers and my father's household, whose home is in the land of Canaan, have come to me.
32 Son pastores de ovejas, pues siempre fueron ganaderos, y, han traído ovejas, vacadas y todo lo suyo.»	32 The men are shepherds, having long been keepers of livestock; and they have brought with them their flocks and herds, as well as everything else they own.'
33 Así, cuando os llame Faraón y os diga. “¿Cuál es vuestro oficio?”, 34 le decís: “Ganaderos hemos sido tus siervos desde la mocedad hasta ahora, lo mismo que nuestros padres.” De esta suerte os quedaréis en el país de Gosen.» Porque los egipcios detestan a todos los pastores de ovejas.	33 So when Pharaoh summons you and asks what your occupation is,
	34 you must answer, 'We your servants, like our ancestors, have been keepers of livestock from the beginning until now,' in order that you may stay in the region of Goshen, since all shepherds are abhorrent to the Egyptians."
