Apocalissi 13

BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 E vidi una bestia che ascendeva del mare, la quale aveva sette capi e dieci corni, e sopra li corni suoi dieci corone, e sopra li capi suoi nome di biastemia.	1 Then I saw a beast emerge from the sea: it had seven heads and ten horns, with a coronet on each ofits ten horns, and its heads were marked with blasphemous titles.
2 E la bestia che vidi gli era simile al (leone) pardo; e li piedi suoi come piedi dell' orso; e la bocca sua come bocca di leone. E il dracone dètte a lei la virtù sua con grande possanza.	2 I saw that the beast was like a leopard, with paws like a bear and a mouth like a lion; the dragon hadhanded over to it his own power and his throne and his immense authority.
3 E vidi uno de' capi suoi come ucciso in morte; e la piaga della morte sua fu sanata. E la terra universa si meravigliava drieto la bestia.	3 I saw that one of its heads seemed to have had a fatal wound but that this deadly injury had healedand the whole world had marvel ed and fol owed the beast.
4 E adororono il dracone, il quale dètte la possanza alla bestia; e adororono la bestia, dicenti: chi è simile alla bestia? e chi potrà pugnare con quella?	4 They prostrated themselves in front of the dragon because he had given the beast his authority; andthey prostrated themselves in front of the beast, saying, 'Who can compare with the beast? Who can fightagainst it?'
5 E data ègli bocca, che parlava cose grandi e blasfemia; e fu'li data possanza da far per mesi quarantadue.	5 The beast was allowed to mouth its boasts and blasphemies and to be active for forty-two months;
6 E aperse la bocca sua nelli biastemi a Iddio, blasfemare il nome suo e il tabernacolo suo, e quelli che àbitano in cielo.	6 and it mouthed its blasphemies against God, against his name, his heavenly Tent and al those whoare sheltered there.
7 E fu'li dato a fare battaglia con li santi, e vincerli. E data è a quella, possanza in ogni tribù e popolo, e lingua e gente.	7 It was allowed to make war against the saints and conquer them, and given power over every race,people, language and nation;
8 E adororono quella tutti quelli che àbitano nella terra; de' quali non son scritti li nomi nel libro della vita dell' Agnello, il quale fu ucciso dalla origine del modo.	8 and al people of the world wil worship it, that is, everybody whose name has not been written downsince the foundation of the world in the sacrificial Lamb's book of life.
9 Se alcuno ha orecchia, oda.	9 Let anyone who can hear, listen:
10 Colui che metterà [in] cattività, anderà in cattività; e quello che ucciderà in gladio, bisogna che sia ucciso del coltello. Qui è pazienza e fede de' santi.	10 Those for captivity to captivity; those for death by the sword to death by the sword. This is why thesaints must have perseverance and faith.
11 E vidi una altra bestia che ascendeva della terra, e aveva due corni simili all' Agnello, e parlava come dracone.	11 Then I saw a second beast, emerging from the ground; it had two horns like a lamb, but made anoise like a dragon.
12 E ogni possanza della prima bestia faceva nel suo conspetto; e fece che la terra, e quelli che abitavano in essa, adoravano la bestia prima, della quale fu curata la piaga della morte.	12 This second beast exercised al the power of the first beast, on its behalf making the world and al itspeople worship the first beast, whose deadly injury had healed.
13 E fece segni grandi in tale che facesse discendere fuoco del cielo in terra nel conspetto delli uomini.	13 And it worked great miracles, even to calling down fire from heaven onto the earth while peoplewatched.
14 E seducette quelli che àbitano nella terra per li segni, li quali sono dati [a lei] da fare nel conspetto dalla bestia, dicendo a quelli che àbitano nella terra, (acciò) che facciano l' imagine della bestia, la quale aveva la piaga di coltello, ed è viva.	14 Through the miracles which it was al owed to do on behalf of the first beast, it was able to lead astraythe people of the world and persuade them to put up a statue in honour of the beast that had been wounded bythe sword and stil lived.
15 E dato è a quella, ch' ella dèsse spirito alla imagine della bestia, e che la imagine parlasse; e farà che ciascheduno che non adorarà l' imagine della bestia, sia ucciso.	15 It was al owed to breathe life into this statue, so that the statue of the beast was able to speak, and tohave anyone who refused to worship the statue of the beast put to death.
16 E farà tutti li piccoli e grandi, e ricchi e poveri, liberi e servi, aver uno carattere nella mano destra, ovver nella fronte sua;	16 It compel ed everyone -- smal and great alike, rich and poor, slave and citizen -- to be branded onthe right hand or on the forehead,
17 e che niuno possa vendere nè comprare, se non chi ha il carattere, ovver il nome della bestia, ovver il numero del suo nome.	17 and made it il egal for anyone to buy or sell anything unless he had been branded with the name ofthe beast or with the number of its name.
18 Qui è la sapienza. Chi ha intelletto computi il numero della bestia. È il numero dell' uomo; e il numero suo sì è secento sessantasei.	18 There is need for shrewdness here: anyone clever may interpret the number of the beast: it is thenumber of a human being, the number 666.
