1 Pietro, apostolo di Iesù Cristo, agli eletti forestieri della dispersione di Ponto, di Galazia, di Cappadocia, d' Asia e di Bitinia,	1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
2 secondo il prevedimento di Dio Padre, in santificazione di Spirito, in obbedienza e nel spargimento del sangue di Iesù Cristo, la grazia e la pace sia adempiuta a voi.	2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
3 Benedetto Dio e Padre del nostro Signore Iesù Cristo, il quale secondo la sua grande misericordia rigenerò noi nella viva speranza, per la resurrezione di Iesù Cristo da morte,	3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 nella eredità non mortale e non sozza, e che non marcisce, conservata ne' cieli in voi,	4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 li quali nella virtù siete guardati per la fede in salvazione, apparecchiata d'essere fatta manifesta nel tempo ultimo.	5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 Nella quale voi v' allegrerete, avvegna che ora un poco sia mestieri che voi siate contristati nelle varie tentazioni,	6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
7 acciò che lo provamento della vostra fede sia molto [più] prezioso che l' oro, lo quale è provato per fuoco, e sia trovato in laude e gloria e onore, nel manifestamento di Iesù Cristo.	7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
8 Il quale, conciosiacosa che non l'abbiate veduto, l' amate; nel quale ora, non vedendolo, credete; ma credendo, vi rallegrarete di letizia la quale non si può contare, e glorificarà,	8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
9 rapportando la fine della vostra fede, salvazione delle (vostre) anime.	9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
10 Della quale salvazione addomandorono e hanno cercato li profeti, li quali profetarono della grazia che doveva venire in voi, quale o in che tempo dimodi Cristo, dicendo dinanzi le	10 Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
11 cercando in strasse il loro spirito passioni le quali sono in Cristo, e le posteriori glorie.	11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
12 Ai quali fu manifestato, che non apparecchiavano quelle cose a sè medesimi, ma a voi; le quali cose son ora annuuziate a voi per coloro li quali predicarono a voi nel Santo Spirito mandato dal cielo, nel quale desiderano gli angeli di guardare.	12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
13 Per la quale cosa, essendo cinti i lombi della vostra mente, temperati, perfetti, sperate in quella grazia la quale è presentata a voi, nel rivelamento di Iesù Cristo,	13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
14 come a figliuoli di obbedienza, non assimigliati [al]li primi desiderii della vostra ignoranza,	14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
15 ma secondo colui ch' è santo, che vi chiamò acciò che voi siate santi in ogni conversazione.	15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16 Perciò ch' egli è scritto: santi siate, però che io son santo.	16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
17 E se voi chiamate padre colui, che senza ricevimento di persone giudica secondo l' opere di ciascheduno, conversate con timore il tempo del vostro abitamento,	17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
18 sapiendo che non con auro nè con argento corruttibile siete ricomperati della vostra vana conversazione delli ordinamenti de' vostri padri,	18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 ma del prezioso sangue, sì come dell' agnello non corrotto e senza macula, di Iesù Cristo,	19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
20 conosciuto veramente dinanzi dall' ordinato del mondo, manifestato ne' deretani tempi per voi,	20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
21 li quali siete fedeli per lui nel Signore, il quale suscitò da morte, e diede a lui gloria sempiternale, acciò che la vostra fede e la speranza fosse in Iddio.	21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
22 Facendo caste l'anime vostre nell' obbedimento della carità, in semplice amore di fratellanza, con puro cuore insieme v' amate voi,	22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
23 che siete rinati [non] di seme corruttibile, ma dal non corruttibile, per la parola di Dio vivo, ch' è permanente in eterno.	23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
24 Chè ogni carne è fieno, e tutta la gloria sua si è come il fiore del fieno; seccossi il fieno, e il fiore di lui cadde.	24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
25 Ma la parola del Signore permane in eterno; ma questa è la parola, la quale è predicata tra voi.	25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
