Epistola di Santo Paulo alli Efesini 1

1 Paulo, apostolo di Iesù Cristo per la volontà di Dio, a tutti gli uomini santi e fedeli in Iesù Cristo, che son in Efeso.	1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the will of God, to all the saints who are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus.
2 Grazia sia a voi e pace da Dio padre nostro, e dal Signore Iesù Cristo.	2 Grace be to you, and peace from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Benedetto sia Dio, e il padre del Signore nostro Iesù Cristo, il quale benedisse noi in ogni benedizione spirituale ne' celestiali in Iesù Cristo,	3 Blessed by the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with spiritual blessings in heavenly places, in Christ:
4 sì come egli elesse noi in lui dinanzi l' ordinamento del mondo, perchè noi fossimo santi senza macula nel conspetto suo con carità.	4 As he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and unspotted in his sight in charity.
5 Il quale predestinò noi con amore delli figliuoli per Iesù Cristo in lui medesimo, secondo il proponimento della sua volontà,	5 Who hath predestinated us unto the adoption of children through Jesus Christ unto himself: according to the purpose of his will:
6 a laude e gloria della sua grazia, nella qual grazia ricevette noi nel suo Figliuolo diletto.	6 Unto the praise of the glory of his grace, in which he hath graced us in his beloved son.
7 Per il quale noi avemo redenzione per il sangue suo, remissione de' peccati, secondo le ricchezze della grazia sua.	7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the remission of sins, according to the riches of his grace,
8 La quale sopra abbonda in noi, in ogni saviezza, con ogni provvidenza,	8 Which hath superabounded in us in all wisdom and prudence,
9 per manifestarci il secreto della sua volontà, secondo il suo buono piacimento, il quale ordinò in lui	9 That he might make known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure, which he hath purposed in him,
10 nella dispensazione della pienezza de' tempi, e per restaurare tutte le cose in Cristo, che son in cielo, e quelle che son in terra, in lui;	10 In the dispensation of the fulness of times, to re-establish all things in Christ, that are in heaven and on earth, in him.
11 Nel qual etiam noi siamo chiamati per sorte, predestinati secondo il proponimento suo, il quale tutte le cose adopera secondo il consiglio della sua volontà,	11 In whom we also are called by lot, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things according to the counsel of his will.
12 perchè siamo lode della sua gloria noi, che dinanzi abbiamo sperato in Cristo,	12 That we may be unto the praise of his glory, we who before hoped Christ:
13 per il quale voi, quando aveste udito (e inteso) il verbo della verità, cioè l'evangelio della vostra salute, nel quale voi credendo siete segnati col Spirito santo della promissione,	13 In whom you also, after you had heard the word of truth, (the gospel of your salvation;) in whom also believing, you were signed with the holy Spirit of promise,
14 il quale è pegno della nostra eredità, in redenzione dell' acquisto, e per lode della sua gloria.	14 Who is the pledge of our inheritance, unto the redemption of acquisition, unto the praise of his glory.
15 Per la qual cosa e io, vedendo la vostra fede la quale è nel Signore nostro Iesù Cristo, e udendo l'amore il quale avete ne' santi,	15 Wherefore I also, hearing of your faith that is in the Lord Jesus, and of your love towards all the saints,
16 non resto di referire grazie a Dio per voi, e di fare ricordanza di voi in le mie orazioni,	16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making commemoration of you in my prayers,
17 acciò che Dio, padre della gloria del nostro Signore Iesù Cristo, a voi dia spirito di sapienza e di rivelazione a conoscere lui,	17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and of revelation, in the knowledge of him:
18 e che illumini gli occhi del vostro cuore, acciò che sappiate (e conosciate) quanta sia la speranza della sua vocazione, e quali siano le divizie della (sua) gloria (le ricchezze) della sua eredità ne' santi,	18 The eyes of your heart enlightened, that you may know what the hope is of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.
19 e quanta sia la grandezza della sua virtù (e della sua possanza) in noi, li quali credemo secondo l'opera della possanza della virtù,	19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power towards us, who believe according to the operation of the might of his power,
20 la qual egli ha operato in Cristo, suscitando lui da morte, e ordinando[lo] al suo lato ritto in cielo,	20 Which he wrought in Christ, raising him up from the dead, and setting him on his right hand in the heavenly places.
21 ponendolo sopra ogni principato e potestà, e sopra le virtù e dominazioni, e sopra ogni nome il quale è nominato, non solamente in questo secolo, ma etiam nell' altro che sarà.	21 Above all principality, and power, and virtue, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come.
22 E tutte le cose sottopose sotto li piedi suoi; e diede lui per essere capo di tutta la Chiesa.	22 And he hath subjected all things under his feet, and hath made him head over all the church,
23 La qual è suo corpo, e pienezza sua, il quale adempie tutte le cose.	23 Which is his body, and the fulness of him who is filled all in all.
