1 Da poi che fu cessato il tumulto, Paulo convocò li discepoli (che quivi erano), e confortandoli prese comiato, e partissi per andare in Macedonia.	1 Then, after the tumult ceased, Paul, calling the disciples to himself and exhorting them, said farewell. And he set out, so that he might go into Macedonia.
2 E poi che quivi ebbe ancora confortati li fedeli che v'erano, partissi e andonne (ad Atene) in Grecia.	2 And when he had walked through those areas and had exhorted them with many sermons, he went into Greece.
3 Dove essendo stato tre mesi, volendo poi quindi andare in Siria, certi giudei posero le insidie nella via; onde egli (questo intendendo) prese consiglio di tornare per Macedonia.	3 After he had spent three months there, treacheries were planned against him by the Jews, just as he was about to sail into Syria. And having been advised of this, he return through Macedonia.
4 E allora l'accompagnò Sopater di Berea (padre) di Pirro, e Aristarco Tessalonicense e Secondo e Caio Derbeo e Timoteo; e Tichico e Trofimo Asiani.	4 Now those accompanying him were Sopater, the son of Pyrrhus from Beroea; and also the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy; and also Tychicus and Trophimus from Asia.
5 Questi tutti, andando inanzi, ci aspettavano [a] Troade.	5 These, after they had gone ahead, waited for us at Troas.
6 E noi dopo la pasca sì partimmo da Filippi, e pervennimmovi in cinque di; poi vi stemmo sette.	6 Yet truly, we sailed from Philippi, after the days of Unleavened Bread, and in five days we went to them at Troas, where we stayed for seven days.
7 Or avvenne che uno sabbato, dovendoci noi partire il dì seguente, entrammo nella sinagoga per comunicare; e cominciando Paulo a (predicare e) disputare, trasse (e prolungò) il suo sermone insino a mezza notte.	7 Then, on the first Sabbath, when we had assembled together to break bread, Paul discoursed with them, intending to set out the next day. But he prolonged his sermon into the middle of the night.
8 E in quello cenaculo, nel quale noi eravamo congregati, erano molte lampade accese.	8 Now there were plenty of lamps in the upper room, where we were gathered.
9 E sedendo uno adolescente, che aveva nome Eutico, sopra una fenestra per udire Paulo, addormentandosi cadde del terzo solaio giù, e incontanente morì.	9 And a certain adolescent named Eutychus, sitting on the window sill, was being weighed down by a heavy drowsiness (for Paul was preaching at length). Then, as he went to sleep, he fell from the third floor room downward. And when he was lifted up, he was dead.
10 Allora Paulo, discendendo, gittossi addosso disteso, e disse a' circostanti: non (temete e non) vi turbate, perciò che è vivo.	10 When Paul had gone down to him, he laid himself over him and, embracing him, said, “Do not worry, for his soul is still within him.”
11 E così (resuscitandolo) mangiò uno poco con lui e con gli altri; e parlando insino a giorno, poi si partì,	11 And so, going up, and breaking bread, and eating, and having spoken well on until daylight, he then set out.
12 lasciando coloro molto consolati, (sì per la dottrina, sì per il miracolo).	12 Now they had brought the boy in alive, and they were more than a little consoled.
13 E volendo elli andare per terra, noi salimmo in su una nave, e navigammo in Asson per aspettarlo e riceverlo quivi.	13 Then we climbed aboard the ship and sailed to Assos, where we were to take in Paul. For so he himself had decided, since he was making the journey by land.
14 E quivi poi trovandoci elli, partimmoci e venimmo in (quella isola che si chiama) Mitilene.	14 And when he had joined us at Assos, we took him in, and we went to Mitylene.
15 E quindi poi navigando, pervenimmo contra Chio il seguente dì, e l'altro dì a Samo, e il terzo di [a] Mileto.	15 And sailing from there, on the following day, we arrived opposite Chios. And next we landed at Samos. And on the following day we went to Miletus.
16 E Paulo faceva proposito in cuore di tornare in Efeso, per non fare dimora in Asia; perciò che s'aspettava, se possibile li fusse, di fare la pasca della Pentecoste in Ierusalem.	16 For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, so that he would not be delayed in Asia. For he was hurrying so that, if it were possible for him, he might observe the day of Pentecost at Jerusalem.
17 Ma poi, pure rimanendo a Mileto, (per certa cagione) mandò a Efeso, e fece venire a sè tutti li maggiori (e li prelati) della Chiesa (di Efeso).	17 Then, sending from Miletus to Ephesus, he called those greater by birth in the church.
18 Li quali tutti essendo venuti, li congregò, e disse loro voi sapete come (innocentemente e senza vostra gravezza) son conversato con voi dal primo giorno che io venni in Asia insino ad ora,	18 And when they had come to him and were together, he said to them: “You know that from the first day when I entered into Asia, I have been with you, for the entire time, in this manner:
19 servendo Iddio (e voi dì e notte) con molta umiltà e molte lacrime e molte (fatiche e) tentazioni, e con molte persecuzioni che io ho ricevuto da' Iudei.	19 serving the Lord, with all humility and despite the tears and trials which befell me from the treacheries of the Jews,
20 Massimamente non mi sono (cessato nè) ritratto di farvi ogni utilità (e bene che io ho potuto), massimamente di darvi e di insegnarvi la verità (e l'utile dottrina) e in pubblico e in privato,	20 how I held back nothing that was of value, how well I have preached to you, and that I have taught you publicly and throughout the houses,
21 ammonendo così li Iudei come i pagani a penitenza, e avere fede di piena remissione per Iesù Cristo.	21 testifying both to Jews and to Gentiles about repentance in God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
22 Ed ecco ora (dotto e inspirato e) quasi forzato dal Spirito Santo vado in Ierusalem, e non so quello che ivi avvenire mi debba;	22 And now, behold, being obliged in spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there,
23 se non che il Spirito Santo, per tutte le città (e luoghi onde io passo) mi protesta (e mostra), che catene e tribulazioni (molte) m'aspettano in Ierusalem.	23 except that the Holy Spirit, throughout every city, has cautioned me, saying that chains and tribulations await me at Jerusalem.
24 Ma io per niuna di queste cose temo; nè curo della mia vita corporale, e non l'ho cara più che l'anima, pure ch' io vi possa (con onore di Dio) compiere il mio corso, (e fare) e fornire l' officio del predicare l'evangelio, il quale da Cristo ho recevuto.	24 But I dread none of these things. Neither do I consider my life to be more precious because it is my own, provided that in some way I may complete my own course and that of the ministry of the Word, which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the Gospel of the grace of God.
25 E parmi essere certo, che mai più non vederete la faccia mia voi, per li quali io son passato predicando l'evangelio di Cristo.	25 And now, behold, I know that you will no longer see my face, all of you among whom I have traveled, preaching the kingdom of God.
26 Per la quale cosa io protesto oggi (dinanzi da Dio e a voi), che mondo sono dal sangue di tutti (voi, cioè che non vi ho consentito a peccare, ma ho li peccatori ripreso arditamente);	26 For this reason, I call you as witnesses on this very day: that I am clean from the blood of all.
27 e non mi son cessato d'annunziarvi ogni consiglio di Dio.	27 For I have not turned aside in the least from announcing every counsel of God to you.
28 Pregovi adunque che (sollecitamente) attendiate a voi e al popolo che v'è commesso, considerando che da il Spirito Santo siete (eletti e) posti (prelati) a guardare la Chiesa di Dio, la quale Cristo acquistò (e ricomperò) con lo proprio sangue.	28 Take care of yourselves and of the entire flock, over which the Holy Spirit has stationed you as Bishops to rule the Church of God, which he has purchased by his own blood.
29 Io so [che] poi che sarò partito intraranno a voi lupi rapaci (cioè uomini eretici, falsi e ambiziosi), che non (cercaranno se non di divorarvi, e non) perdoneranno al gregge.	29 I know that after my departure ravenous wolves will enter among you, not sparing the flock.
30 E di voi stessi si leveranno uomini (perversi e vani) che parleranno (e diranno) molte vanità e falsità (e mostrandosi grandi maestri) per trarsi molti discepoli dopo loro.	30 And from among yourselves, men will rise up, speaking perverse things in order to entice disciples after them.
31 E però vegliate (e siate solleciti, pensando e) ricordandovi che già sono tre anni, che notte e dì io non mi son cessato d'ammonire con lacrime ciascuno di voi.	31 Because of this, be vigilant, retaining in memory that throughout three years I did not cease, night and day, with tears, to admonish each and every one of you.
32 Ma ora vi raccomando a Dio e alla parola della grazia sua, il quale è potente (di guardarvi, e) di edificarvi e giustificarvi, e poi di darvi la (sua eterna) eredità.	32 And now, I commend you to God and to the Word of his grace. He has the power to build up, and to give an inheritance to all who are sanctified.
33 Argento nè oro nè vestimento d' alcuno (di voi) non desiderai.	33 I have coveted neither silver and gold, nor apparel,
34 Anzi sapete che della fatica delle mie mani sono vivuto, ed eziandio ho nutricati quelli che sono meco.	34 as you yourselves know. For that which was needed by me and by those who are with me, these hands have provided.
35 In ogni cosa mi son studiato di darvi buono esempio, massimamente che si conviene di lavorare, e ricevere (e sopportare e nutricare li poveri e) li infermi (dell' anima e del corpo), ricordandoci di quella parola che dice Cristo, cioè che più beata cosa è dare, che ricevere.	35 I have revealed all things to you, because by laboring in this way, it is necessary to support the weak and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”
36 E dette queste cose, inginocchiossi insieme con tutti loro, e orò (con molte lagrime);	36 And when he had said these things, kneeling down, he prayed with all of them.
37 sì che tutti gli provocò a piangere; e (con molte lagrime) gli si gittorono al collo (abbracciandolo e) basciandolo (con grande dolcezza),	37 Then a great weeping occurred among them all. And, falling upon the neck of Paul, they kissed him,
38 molto dolendosi (della sua partita massimamente) per che aveva detto che mai più non il rivederebbero (in questa vita). E così (piagnendo) l' accompagnorono insino alla nave.	38 being grieved most of all over the word which he had said, that they would never see his face again. And they brought him to the ship.
