Ieremia 5

BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Circuite le vie di Ierusalem, e guardate, e considerate, e addomandate nelle piazze sue, se voi potete trovare uomo che facci giudicio, e che cerchi la fede; e sarò a lui propizio.	1 Rove the streets of Jerusalem, now look and enquire, see in her squares if you can find an individual,one individual who does right and seeks the truth, and I will pardon her, Yahweh says.
2 E se anche: vive lo Signore, abbiano detto; e questo giuraranno falsamente.	2 Although they say, 'As Yahweh lives,' they are, in fact, swearing a false oath.
3 Signore, li tuoi occhi ragguardano la fede; percotestili, e non si dolsono; attritastili (cioè correggestili), e rinunciarono di ricever la disciplina; indurarono le loro faccie sopra le pietre, e non volseno ritornare.	3 Yahweh, do your eyes not look for truth? You have struck them; they have not felt it. You haveannihilated them, for they ignored the lesson. They have set their faces harder than rock, they have refused torepent.
4 E io dissi: forse che sono poveri e istolti, e ignoranti la via del Signore, il giudicio dello loro Iddio.	4 I thought, 'These are only the poor! They behave stupidly since they do not know Yahweh's way or theruling of their God.
5 Adunque io anderò alli ottimati, (li ottimati sono come principi), e parlerò con loro: loro hanno conosciuto la via del Signore, e lo giudicio dello loro Iddio; ed ecco che più hanno rotto lo giogo insieme costoro, e hanno rotto li legami.	5 I shal approach the great men and speak to them, for these will know Yahweh's way and the ruling oftheir God.' But these, too, have broken the yoke, have burst the bonds.
6 Però hae percosso loro lo leone della selva, lo lupo nel vespro li guastoe, lo leopardo vigilante sopra le loro cittadi; ogni uomo lo quale sarà uscito di quelle sarà preso; però che sono moltiplicate le loro prevaricazioni, e le loro inobbedienze sono confortate.	6 And so, a lion from the forest will slaughter them, a wolf from the plains will despoil them, a leopard wilbe lurking round their towns: anyone who goes out will be torn to pieces -- because of their many crimes, theircountless infidelities.
7 Or sopra che cosa ti potrò io essere propizio? li tuoi figliuoli m' hanno abbandonato, e giurano in quelli che non sono iddii; io li hoe saturati, e loro hanno commesso adulterio, e nella casa della meretrice lussuriavano.	7 'Why should I pardon you? Your sons have abandoned me, to swear by gods that are not gods at al . Ifed them full, and they became adulterers, they hurried to the brothel.
8 Sono fatti (amatori delle femine) come i cavalli che sono mandati alle cavalle per stallonì; ciascuno andava dopo la moglie del prossimo suo, come pazzo.	8 They are well-fed, roving stal ions, each neighing for his neighbour's wife.
9 Or non visiterò io sopra costoro? dice il Signore; e l' anima mia non si vendicherà in cotali genti?	9 Shal I fail to punish this, Yahweh demands, or on such a nation to exact vengeance?
10 Salite in su le sue mura, e dissipatele (cioè guastatele), ma non le consumate; togliete via li suoi rami, imperò che non sono del Signore.	10 Scale her terraces! Destroy! But do not annihilate her completely! Strip off her branches, for Yahwehdoes not own them!
11 La casa d' Israel sì è prevaricata per prevaricazione in me, e la casa di Giuda, dice Iddio.	11 How treacherously they have treated me, the House of Israel and the House of Judah! Yahwehdeclares.
12 Hanno negato Iddio, e dissono: non è egli, e non verrà sopra noi lo male; il coltello e la fame non vederemo.	12 'They have denied Yahweh, they have said, "He is nothing; no evil wil overtake us, we shall not seesword or famine.
13 Li profeti parlarono al vento, e risposta non fue in loro; adunque queste cose avverranno a loro.	13 And the prophets? Nothing but wind; the word is not in them; let those very things happen to them!" '
14 Dice Iddio Signore delli esèrciti: però che avete parlato cotali parole, ecco io doe le mie parole nella bocca tua in fuoco, e questo popolo in legna, e divorerà (e consumerà) loro.	14 Because of this, Yahweh, God Sabaoth, says this, 'Since you have said such things, now I shal makemy words a fire in your mouth, and make this people wood, for the fire to devour.
15 Ecco, o casa d' Israel, io adducerò gente sopra voi da lungo paese, dice Iddio, robusta gente, antica gente, la cui lingua tu non saprai, nè intenderai come si parli.	15 Now I shall bring on you a nation from afar, House of Israel, Yahweh declares, an enduring nation, anancient nation, a nation whose language you do not know, nor can you grasp what they say.
16 Lo suo turcasso quasi come uno sepolcro aperto; e tutti forti.	16 Their quiver a gaping tomb, they are al of them fighters.
17 E (quella gente) mangerà lo tuo pane e le tue biade; divorerà li tuoi figliuoli e le tue figliuole; anche mangerà le tue greggie, la vigna e li tuoi fichi; e atterrerà le tue cittadi armate, nelle quali tu hai fidanza, (dico) di coltello.	17 They will devour your harvest and your food, devour your sons and daughters, devour your flocks andherds, devour your vines and fig trees, and demolish your fortified towns in which you trust -- with the sword!'
18 Ma pure in quel tempo io non farò voi in consumazione, dice Iddio.	18 'Yet even in those days, Yahweh declares, I shal not annihilate you completely.
19 E se voi direte: per che ci ha fatto Iddio tutte queste cose? dirai a loro: siccome voi abbandonaste me, e serviste allo iddio straniero nella vostra terra, così servirete alli altrui nella terra non vostra.	19 'And when you ask, "Why has Yahweh our God done al this to us?" you wil give them this answer, "As you abandon me to serve alien gods in your own country, so you must serve aliens in a country not your own."
20 Annunciate queste cose alla casa di Iacob, e fatelo udire nella casa di Giuda, dicendo:	20 'Announce this in the House of Jacob, proclaim it in Judah, and say,
21 Odi, populo istolto, lo quale non hai cuore; i quali avete occhi e non vedete, avete orecchie e non udite.	21 "Now listen to this, stupid, brainless people who have eyes and do not see, who have ears and do nothear!
22 Me adunque non temerete, dice Iddio, e dalla mia faccia non vi dolerete? il quale (cioè Iddio) ho posto la rena termine al mare, comandamento sempiterno, lo quale comandamento non preterirà; e commoverannosi e non potranno; e le sue onde gonfieranno, e non passeranno quello.	22 Have you no fear of me? Yahweh demands. Wil you not tremble before me who set the sand as limit to the sea, as an everlasting barrier it cannot pass? Its waves may toss but not prevail, they may roar but cannotpass beyond.
23 A questo popolo si è fatto lo cuore incredulo (cioè che non crede) e aspro; partironsi e andàronsene.	23 But this people has a rebellious, unruly heart; they have rebelled and gone!
24 E non dissono nel loro cuore: temiamo Iddio nostro Signore, il quale ci dà piova temporanea (cioè quando deve essere) e serotina quando richiede lo tempo;la plenitudine della ricolta annuale conservandola a noi.	24 Nor do they say to themselves: Now we ought to fear Yahweh our God who gives the rain, of autumnand of spring, at the right season, and reserves us the weeks appointed for harvest.
25 Le vostre iniquitadi (e li vostri mali) hanno declinate (e tolte) tutte queste cose; e li vostri peccati vi hanno vietati li beni da voi.	25 Your misdeeds have upset al this, your sins have deprived you of these blessings."
26 Però che nel mio populo sono trovati li empii (e li malvagi e) agguatando come fanno li uccellatori, ponendo li lacciuoli e le tagliuole, e pigliando gli uomini.	26 Yes, there are wicked men among my people who watch like fowlers on the alert; they set traps andthey catch human beings.
27 Si come la gabbia (ritrosa) piena di uccelli, è così la loro casa piena d' inganno; e però sono magnificati e arricchiti.	27 Like a cage full of birds so are their houses full of loot; they have grown rich and powerful because of it,
28 E sono impinguati e ingrassati, e hanno passati i miei detti pessimamente. Lo piato (e la questione) della vedova non giudicarono, (cioè che non aiutarono la vedova nè la povera nel suo piato); lo piato delli pupilli non dirizzonno, e lo giudicio del povero non giudicarono.	28 they are fat, they are sleek, in wickedness they go to any lengths: they have no respect for rights, fororphans' rights, and yet they succeed! They have not upheld the cause of the needy.
29 Or non visiterò io sopra queste cose? dice Iddio; ovvero sopra cotali genti non si vendicherà l'animo mio?	29 Shal I fail to punish this, Yahweh demands, or on such a nation to exact vengeance?
30 Stupore e (così) cose maravigliose sono fatte in terra.	30 Horrible, disgusting things are happening in the land:
31 Li profeti profetarono le bugie (e li mentiri), e li sacerdoti sì truffarono colle loro mani, e lo mio popolo hae amato (e dilettatosi in) cose così fatte: or dunque che si farà nel suo novissimo die?	31 the prophets prophesy falsely and the priests exploit the people. And my people love it! But when theend comes, what wil you do?
