Ieremia 15

BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 E disse Iddio a me: se sarà istato Moisè o Samuel innanzi a me, non sarà l'anima mia propizia a questo populo; mandali via dalla mia faccia, ed escano fuori.	1 Yahweh said to me, 'Even if Moses and Samuel pleaded before me, I could not sympathise with thispeople! Drive them out of my sight; away with them!
2 E se diranno a te: dove anderemo noi? dirai a loro questo dice Iddio: chi è ordinato alla morte, caderà per quella; chi al coltello, al coltello; chi alla fame, alla fame; e chi alla prigione, alla prigione.	2 And if they ask you, "Where shal we go?" tel them this, "Yahweh says this: Those for the plague, to the plague; those for the sword, to the sword; those for famine, to famine; those for captivity, to captivity!
3 Visiterò sopra loro con quattro specie di male, dice il Signore; coltelli ad uccisione, e cani a lacerare, e li uccelli del clelo e le bestie della terra a divorare e a dissipare.	3 "I shal consign them to four kinds of thing, Yahweh declares: the sword to kil , the dogs to drag away,the birds of heaven and wild animals of earth to devour and to destroy.
4 E darò loro in furore a tutti li regni della terra, per cagione di Manasse, figliuolo di Ezechia re di Giuda, sopra tutte le cose le quali hae fatte in Ierusalem.	4 I shal make them an object of horror to al the kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh son ofHezekiah, king of Judah, and what he did in Jerusalem." '
5 O Ierusalem, c chi averà misericordia di te? ovver chi sarà tristo e dolente per te? ovver chi andrà a pregare per la tua pace?	5 Who is there to pity you, Jerusalem, who to grieve for you, who to go out of his way and ask how youare?
6 Tu abbandonasti me, dice Iddio, e andasti a ritroso; io istenderò la mia mano sopra te, e ucciderotti; io m' affaticai pregando.	6 'You yourself have rejected me, Yahweh declares, you have turned your back on me; so I havestretched my hand over you and destroyed you. Tired of relenting,
7 E dispergerolli col ventolaio nelle porte della terra; uccisi, e mandai lo mio populo disperso; e però non sono anco tornati dalle vie loro.	7 I have winnowed them with a winnow at the country's gates. They have been bereft, I have destroyedmy people, but they refuse to leave their ways.
8 Le vedove sue sono moltiplicate a me, più che la rena del mare; io indussi sopra la madre dello giovane lo guastatore nel mezzo dì; e mandai uno grande spaventamento sopra le cittadi subitamente.	8 I have made their widows outnumber the sand of the sea. On the mother of young warriors I bring thedestroyer in broad daylight. Suddenly I bring anguish and terror down on her.
9 Infermata è quella che partorio VII figliuoli, e l'anima sua sì è venuta meno; lo sole tramontoe a lei, essendo ancora dì; rimase confusa, e vergognossi; e li suoi rimanenti metterò al coltello in conspetto de' suoi nimici, dice Iddio.	9 The mother of seven sons grows faint and gasps for breath. It is stil day, but already her sun has set,she is dismayed and distracted; and the rest of them I shal consign to the sword, to their enemies, Yahwehdeclares.'
10 Guai a me, madre mia! perchè mi generasti uomo di briga, uomo di discordia in tutta la terra? Io non prestai a usura, e altri non prestò a me; tutti mi maledicono.	10 A disaster for me, mother, that you bore me to be a man of strife and dissension for the wholecountry. I neither lend nor borrow, yet all of them curse me.
11 Dice Iddio: se lo tuo rimanente non fla in bene, e se io non ti verrò a visitare nel tempo della tribulazione e della tua angoscia contro al nimico.	11 Have I not genuinely done my best to serve you, Yahweh? Have I not interceded with you in time ofdisaster and distress!
12 Or presterai ad usura lo ferro collo ferro, e lo metallo d' aquilone?	12 'Can iron break the iron of the north and the bronze?
13 Le tue ricchezze e i tuoi tesori darò in rubamento sanza prezzo, in tutti li peccati tuoi, e in tutti li tuoi termini.	13 Your wealth and your treasures I shal hand over to plunder, without repayment, because of all yoursins, throughout your territory.
14 Adducerò li nimici tuoi della terra della quale tu non saperai; però che il fuoco è acceso nel mio furore, e arderà sopra voi.	14 I shal enslave you to your enemies in a country which you do not know, for my anger has kindled afire that wil burn you up.'
15 O Signore, tu sai; ricòrdati di me, e visita me, e libera me da quelli che mi persèguitano; non mi voler ricevere nella tua pazienza; sappi ch' io sostenni disonore per te.	15 Yahweh, you know! Remember me, take care of me, and avenge me on my persecutors. Howeverlong your anger endures, do not snatch me away. Realise that I suffer insult for your sake.
16 Trovate sono le tue parole (vere), e mangia'le, e la tua parola m'è venuta in allegrezza e in letizia del mio cuore; però che lo tuo nome sì è invocato (e chiamato) sopra me, o Signore Iddio delli esèrciti.	16 When your words came, I devoured them: your word was my delight and the joy of my heart; for I wascal ed by your Name, Yahweh, God Sabaoth.
17 Io non sedetti nella congregazione de' giucatori, e sonomi gloriato dalla faccia della tua mano; io sedeva solo, perchè mi riempiesti di amaritudine.	17 I never sat in the company of scoffers amusing myself; with your hands on me I held myself aloof,since you had fil ed me with indignation.
18 O perchè è fatto lo mio dolore perpetuale, e la mia piaga sì è (pesta e) disperata, e rifiuta di essere curata? Fatta è a me quasi come bugia dell' acqua delli infideli.	18 Why is my suffering continual, my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? Truly, for me you are adeceptive stream with uncertain waters!
19 Perciò questo dice Iddio: se ti convertirai, io ti convertirò, e starai innanzi alla mia faccia; e se tu farai stare [separata] la cosa preziosa della vile, sarai quasi come la mia bocca; e convertirannosi loro a te, e tu non ti convertirai a loro.	19 To which Yahweh replied, 'If you repent, I shal restore you to plead before me. If you distinguishbetween the precious and the base, you shal be as my own mouth. They will come back to you, but you mustnot go back to them.
20 E darò te a questo populo per muro di ferro forte; e combatteranno contro a te, e non ti soperchieranno; però ch' io sono teco acciò ch' io ti faccia salvo e liberi te, dice Iddio.	20 As far as these people are concerned, I shal make you a fortified wall of bronze. They will fightagainst you but will not overcome you, because I am with you to save you and rescue you, Yahweh declares.
21 E libererò te dalla mano de' pessimi, e ricompererò te dalla mano de' forti.	21 I shal rescue you from the clutches of the wicked and redeem you from the grasp of the violent.'
