BIBBIA VOLGARE	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Sopra questo spaventoe lo mio cuore, ed è mosso del suo luogo.	1 At this my heart trembleth, and is moved out of its place.
2 Udite quello che si dice nel terrore della boce sua, e lo suono della bocca sua procedente.	2 Hear ye attentively the terror of his voice, and the sound that cometh out of his mouth.
3 Sotto ogni cielo elli considera, e lo lume suo sopra li termini della terra.	3 He beholdeth under all the heavens, and his light is upon the ends of the earth.
4 Dopo lui ruggirà lo suono, e tonerà colla voce della sua grandezza; e non s' investigherà, quando udita sarà la voce sua.	4 After it a noise shall roar, he shall thunder with the voice of his majesty, and shall not be found out, when his voice shall be heard.
5 Tuonerà Iddio nella voce sua maravigliosamente, il quale fae le grandi cose e da non cercare.	5 God shall thunder wonderfully with his voice, he that doth great and unsearchable things.
6 Il quale comanda alla neve, ch' ella scenda in terra, e alle piove del verno, e alli venti piovali della sua fortezza.	6 He commandeth the snow to go down upon the earth, and the winter rain, and the shower of his strength.
7 Il quale segna nelle mani d'ogni uomo, acciò che ciascuno conosca li suoi lavorii.	7 He sealeth up the hand of all men, that every one may know his works.
8 Vada la bestia nello buco suo, e nella spelonca sua si stia.	8 Then the beast shall go into his covert, and shall abide in his den.
9 Dalle cose più dentro viene la tempesta; dalla parte settentrionale lo freddo.	9 Out of the inner parts shall a tempest come, and cold out of the north.
10 Soffiante Iddio, cresce lo freddo; e da capo le altissime acque sono sparte.	10 When God bloweth there cometh frost, and again the waters are poured out abundantly.
11 Lo grano desidera li nuvoli, e li nuvoli spargono lo suo lume.	11 Corn desireth clouds, and the clouds spread their light :
12 Li quali risplendono intorno in ciascuna parte, dove la volontà dello governante mena loro, ad ogni cosa che comanderae a loro sopra la faccia del mondo delle terre;	12 Which go round about, whithersoever the will of him that governeth them shall lead them, to whatsoever he shall command them upon the face of the whole earth :
13 ovvero in una schiatta, ovvero nella sua terra, ovvero in qualunque luogo della sua misericordia lui comanda ch' egli sieno trovati.	13 Whether in one tribe, or in his own land, or in what place soever of his mercy he shall command them to be found.
14 Ascolta queste cose, Iob; sta, e considera le maraviglie di Dio.	14 Hearken to these things, Job : Stand, and consider the wondrous works of God.
15 Or sai tu, quando comanderà Iddio alle piove, ch' elle mostrino la luce delli suoi nuvoli?	15 Dost thou know when God commanded the rains, to shew his light of his clouds?
16 Or sai tu li gran sentieri delli nuvoli, e le perfette scienze?	16 Knowest thou the great paths of the clouds, and the perfect knowledges?
17 E non sono li vestimenti tuoi caldi, quando percossa sarà la terra dallo austro? (cioè vento).	17 Are not thy garments hot, when the south wind blows upon the earth?
18 Forse che tu fabbricasti li cieli con lui, li quali sono sparti, sodi quasi come di bronzo?	18 Thou perhaps hast made the heavens with him, which are most strong, as if they were of molten brass.
19 Mostra a noi quello che noi diciamo a lui; in verità noi ci volgiamo nelle tenebre.	19 Shew us what we may say to him : for we are wrapped up in darkness.
20 Chi narrerà a lui quelle cose ch' io favello? e già se l' uomo favellerà, sarà divorato.	20 Who shall tell him the things I speak? even if a man shall speak, he shall be swallowed up.
21 Ma ora non vedono luce; sùbito l'aere sarà costretto in nuvoli, e lo vento trapassante scaccerà quelle.	21 But now they see not the light : the air on a sudden shall be thickened into clouds, and the wind shall pass and drive them away.
22 Dall' acquilone viene l'oro, e a Dio la paurosa lode.	22 Cold cometh out of the north, and to God praise with fear.
23 Degnamente lui trovare non possiamo; grande è di forza e di giudicio e di giustizia, e narrare non si puote.	23 We cannot find him worthily : he is great in strength, and in judgment, and in justice, and he is ineffable.
24 Perciò temeranno lui gli uomini, e non ardiranno di contemplare tutti coloro che credono sè essere savii.	24 Therefore men shall fear him, and all that seem to themselves to be wise, shall not dare to behold him.
