1 Ma nell'ottavo decimo anno del regno di Ieroboam, figliuolo di Nabat, regnò Abia sopra Giuda.	1 In the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam son of Nebat, Abijam became king of Judah
2 Tre anni regnò in Ierusalem; il nome della sua madre fu Maaca figliuola di Abessalom.	2 and reigned for three years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Maacah descendant of Absalom.
3 E andò per tutti i peccati del suo padre, che avea fatti dinanzi a lui; e non era il suo cuore perfetto con Iddio suo Signore, come fu il cuore di David suo padre.	3 In everything he fol owed the sinful example of his father before him; his heart was not wholly withYahweh his God, as the heart of David his ancestor had been.
4 Ma per David il Signore Iddio gli diede lucerna in Ierusalem, che suscitasse il figliuolo suo dopo lui, e stesse in Ierusalem.	4 However, for David's sake, Yahweh his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem, with a son to succeed him,so keeping Jerusalem secure;
5 Però che David avea fatta giustizia nel suo cospetto, e non avea declinato da tutte le cose che gli avea comandato, tutto il tempo della vita sua, fuori del fatto d' Uria Eteo.	5 for David had done what Yahweh regarded as right and had never in all his life disobeyed whatever hecommanded him (except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite).
6 Non di meno però guerra fu tra Roboam e Ieroboam, tutto il tempo della vita loro.	6 .
7 Tutte l'altre cose ch' egli fece, non sono loro scritte nel libro de' fatti [dei re] di Giuda? E fu guerra tra Abia e Ieroboam.	7 The rest of the history of Abijam, his entire career, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of theKings of Judah? Abijam and Jeroboam made war on each other.
8 E dormì Abia con i padri suoi; e seppellirlo nella città di David; e regnò per lui Asa suo figliuolo.	8 When Abijam fel asleep with his ancestors, he was buried in the City of David; his son Asa succeededhim.
9 E nel XX anno del regno di Ieroboam re d' Israel, regnò Asa re di Giuda	9 In the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Asa became king of Judah
10 XLI anno in Ierusalem. Il nome della madre fu Maaca figliuola d' Abessalom.	10 and reigned for forty-one years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Maacah descendant ofAbsalom.
11 E fece Asa quello ch' era diritto nel cospetto del Signore, sì come David suo padre.	11 Asa did what Yahweh regards as right, as his ancestor David had done.
12 E tolse via di tutta la terra gli effeminati (cioè sacerdoti pagani castrati), e purgò tutte le brutture degl' idoli, i quali aveano fatti i padri suoi.	12 He drove the male prostitutes out of the country and got rid of all the idols which his ancestors hadmade.
13 E anco Maaca sua madre rimosse, che non fosse principessa negli luoghi sacrati di Priapo, e nel bosco suo, il quale avea consecrato; e disfece la casa sua, e spezzò l' idolo sozzissimo, e arselo nel fiume di Cedron.	13 He even deprived his grandmother Maacah of the dignity of Great Lady for having made an obscenityfor Asherah; Asa cut down her obscenity and burnt it in the ravine of the Kidron.
14 Ma i luoghi alti non tolse via: ed era il cuore di Asa perfetto col Signore tutto il tempo della sua vita.	14 Though the high places were not abolished, Asa's heart was loyal to Yahweh throughout his life.
15 E quelle cose, che il suo padre avea santificate e votate nella casa di Dio, oro, argento e vasa, tutto egli diede.	15 He deposited his father's and his own dedicated gifts of silver, gold and sacred vessels in the Templeof Yahweh.
16 Ed era guerra tra Asa, e Baasa re d' Israel tutto il tempo della vita sua.	16 Asa and Baasha king of Israel were at war with each other throughout their reigns.
17 E andò Baasa re d' Israel in Giuda, ed edificò Rama', acciò che non potesse niuno di quegli di Asa re di Giuda nè entrare nè uscire.	17 Baasha king of Israel marched on Judah and fortified Ramah to blockade Asa king of Judah.
18 E Asa tolse tutto l'argento e l' oro, il quale era rimaso nel tesoro della casa di Dio e nel tesoro della casa del re, e diedelo in mano de' servi suoi; e mandollo a Benadad figliuolo di Tabremon figliuolo di Ezion, re di Siria, il quale abitava in Damasco, dicendo:	18 Asa then took al the remaining silver and gold left in the treasuries of the Temple of Yahweh and theroyal palace. Entrusting this to his servants, King Asa sent them with the fol owing message to Ben-Hadad sonof Tabrimmon, son of Hezion, the king of Aram who lived in Damascus,
19 Tra me e te, e tra il tuo padre e il mio sì è patto; e però io t' ho mandati doni [ argento] e oro; e domando che tu vegni, e togli via il patto che è tra te e Baasa re d' Israel, e (facciamo) che si parta da me.	19 'Let us make an al iance between myself and yourself, between my father and your father! Look, Ihave sent you a gift of silver and gold. Come, break off your al iance with Baasha king of Israel, which wil makehim withdraw from me.'
20 E consentendo Benadad al re Asa, mandò i principi del suo esercito nelle città d' Israel; e percosseno Aion e Dan e Abel, la casa di Maaca, e tutta Cennerot, cioè tutta la terra di Neftali.	20 Ben-Hadad listened favourably to King Asa, and sent the generals of his armies to attack the towns ofIsrael; he ravaged Ijon, Dan, Abel-Beth-Maacah, al Chinneroth, and the whole territory of Naphtali.
21 La quale cosa udita, Baasa lasciò lo edificare di Rama, e ritornò in Tersa.	21 When Baasha heard this he gave up fortifying Ramah and retired to Tirzah.
22 E il re Asa mandò messaggi per tutto Giuda dicendo, che niuna persona fosse escusata. E tolsero le pietre di Rama e i legni, con i quali avea edificato Baasa; e fece di quelle il re Asa, Gabaa di Beniamin e Masfa.	22 King Asa then summoned al Judah, no one was exempt; they took away the stones and timber withwhich Baasha had been fortifying Ramah, and King Asa used them to fortify Geba of Benjamin and Mizpah.

In his old age, however, he contracted a disease of his feet.
24 E dormi Asa con i padri suoi, e fu seppellito con esso loro nella città di David suo padre. E regnò per lui Iosafat suo figliuolo.	24 When Asa fell asleep with his ancestors, he was buried with his ancestors in the City of his ancestorDavid; his son Jehoshaphat succeeded him.
25 E Nadab figliuolo di Ieroboam regnò sopra Israel l'anno secondo di Asa re di Giuda; e regnò sopra Israel due anni.	25 Nadab son of Jeroboam became king of Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and hereigned over Israel for two years.
26 E fece male nel cospetto del Signore, e andò per le vie del suo padre, e nelli suoi peccati, che fece peccare Israel.	26 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh; he copied his father's example and the sin into which he hadled Israel.
27 E insidiollo Baasa figliuolo di Aia della casa d'Issacar, e ferillo in Gebbeton, la quale è città de' Filistei; però che Nadab e tutto Israel aveano assediato Gebbeton.	27 Baasha son of Ahijah, of the House of Issachar, plotted against him and murdered him at Gibbethon,a Philistine town which Nadab and all Israel were besieging.
28 E ucciselo Baasa nel terzo anno di Asa re di Giuda, e regnò per lui.	28 Baasha kil ed Nadab and succeeded him in the third year of Asa king of Judah.
29 E regnando percosse tutta la casa, di Iero-. boam; e non lasciò solamente una anima del suo seme, tanto che l' ebbe disfatto secondo la parola di Dio, la quale egli hae detta per mano del suo servo Aia di Silo,	29 No sooner was he king than he butchered the entire House of Jeroboam, not sparing a soul, and putan end to it, just as Yahweh had foretold through his servant Ahijah of Shiloh,
30 per li peccati di Ieroboam; ne' quali egli avea peccato, e fatto peccare Israel, [e per lo peccato] per lo quale aveva provocato lo Iddio loro contra a Israel.	30 because of the sins which he had committed and into which he had led Israel, and because he hadprovoked the anger of Yahweh, God of Israel.

33 Il terzo anno di Asa re di Giuda regnò Baasa, figliuolo di Aia, sopra tutto Israel in Tersa XXIIII [anni].	33 In the third year of Asa king of Judah, Baasha son of Ahijah became king of Israel at Tirzah fortwenty-four years.
