BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Il terzo anno del regno del re Baltassar, apparve a me Daniele un'altra visione, dopo quella già avuta.	1 In the third year of King Belshazzar a vision appeared to me, Daniel, after the one that had original yappeared to me.
2 Ebbi la visione trovandomi nella città di Susa, che è nella contrada d'Elam, e nella visione mi parve di essere sopra la porta d'Ulai.	2 I gazed at the vision, and as I gazed I found myself in Susa, the citadel in the province of Elam; gazingat the vision, I found myself at the Ulai Gate.
3 Alzati gli occhi, io mi posi a guardare, ed ecco star dinanzi alla palude un ariete con altissime corna, delle quali uno, più alto dell'altro, andava crescendo. Poi	3 I raised my eyes to look, and I saw a ram standing in front of the gate. It had two horns; both were tal ,but one tal er than the other, and the one that rose the higher was the second.
4 vidi l'ariete dar colle sue corna dei cozzi contro l'occidente, il settentrione e il mezzogiorno: nessuna bestia potè resistergli, nè sfuggire al suo potere, sicché fece quanto volle e diventò grande.	4 I saw the ram butting westwards, northwards and southwards. No animal could stand up to it, nothingcould escape its power. It did as it pleased and became strong.
5 Mentre stavo attento, eccoti un capro dall'occidente correr tutta la superfìcie della terra senza toccarla. Il capro aveva un gran corno tra i due occhi,	5 This is what I observed: a he-goat from the west, encroaching over the entire surface of the worldthough never touching the ground, and between its eyes the goat had one majestic horn.
6 e giunto all'ariete cornuto che io avevo visto stare vicino alla porta, gli corse addosso con tutto l'impeto della sua forza,	6 It advanced on the two-horned ram, which I had seen standing in front of the gate, and charged at it inthe full force of its fury.
7 e, accostatosi a lui, lo attaccò furiosamente, lo percosse, gli ruppe le due corna, senza che l'ariete potesse resistergli, lo gettò per terra, lo calpestò, e nessuno poteva levargli di sotto l'ariete.	7 I saw it reach the ram; it was enraged with the ram and struck it, breaking both its horns, so that theram was not strong enough to hold its ground; it threw it to the ground and trampled it underfoot; no one wasthere to rescue the ram.
8 Il capro divenne oltremodo grande; ma cresciuto che fu si ruppe il suo gran corno, e al posto di esso nacquero quattro corna volti ai quattro venti del cielo.	8 The he-goat then grew more powerful than ever; but at the height of its strength the great hornsnapped, and in its place sprouted four majestic horns, pointing to the four winds of heaven.
9 Da uno di questi scappò fuori un piccolo corno che s'ingrandì verso mezzogiorno, verso oriente e verso l'esercito.	9 From one of these, the smal one, sprang a horn which grew to great size towards south and east andtowards the Land of Splendour.
10 S'innalzò anche contro la milizia del cielo, e fece cadere parte dell'esercito e delle stelle, e le conculcò.	10 It grew right up to the armies of heaven and flung armies and stars to the ground, and trampled themunderfoot.
11 E s'innalzò anche contro il principe dell'esercito, e gli tolse il sacrifizio perpetuo e ne avvilì il luogo santo.	11 It even challenged the power of the Prince of the army; it abolished the perpetual sacrifice andoverthrew the foundation of his sanctuary,
12 Fu a lui dato potere contro il sacrifizio perpetuo a motivo dei peccati: la verità sarà abbattuta sopra la terra ed egli agirà e con successo.	12 and the army too; over the sacrifice it installed iniquity and flung truth to the ground; the horn wasactive and successful.
13 Sentii uno dei santi che parlava, e disse un santo ad un altro, non so a chi parlasse: « Fino a quando durerà (quello di cui parla) la visione (intorno) al sacrifizio perpetuo, al peccato causa della desolazione, fino a quando il santuario e l'esercito saran conculcati? »	13 I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one say to the speaker, 'How long is this vision to be --of perpetual sacrifice, of horrifying iniquity, of sanctuary and army trampled underfoot?'
14 Rispose: « Da sera a mattina, per duemila trecento giorni, e poi sarà purificato il santuario ».	14 The first replied, 'Until two thousand three hundred evenings and mornings have gone by: then thesanctuary wil have its rights restored.'
15 Mentre io Daniele avevo questa visione e cercavo d'intenderla, ecco venirmi davanti uno simile all'uomo.	15 As I, Daniel, gazed at the vision and tried to understand it, I saw someone standing in front of me wholooked like a man.
16 E sentii una voce d'un uomo che di mezzo all'Ulai gridava e diceva: « O Gabriele, spiegagli la visione ».	16 I heard a human voice cry over the Ulai, 'Gabriel, tell him the meaning of the vision!'
17 E (Gabriele) venne e si accostò a me. Ma, arrivato che fu, io caddi bocconi, tremante. Egli mi disse: « Comprendi, o figliolo dell'uomo, che la visione è per il tempo della fine ».	17 He approached the place where I was standing; as he approached, I was seized with terror and fellprostrate on the ground. 'Son of man,' he said to me, 'understand this: the vision shows the time of the End.'
18 Mentre egli mi parlava io caddi bocconi per terra; ma egli mi toccò, mi fece stare in piedi, e mi disse:	18 He was stil speaking, when I fainted, face downwards on the ground. He touched me, however, andraised me to my feet.
19 Io ti mostrerò lo cose che avverranno nell'ultimo tempo della maledizione, che il tempo ha il suo fine.	19 'Come,' he said, 'I shall tel you what is going to happen when the Retribution is over, about the finaltimes.
20 L'ariete colle corna da te veduto è il re dei Medi e dei Persiani;	20 As for the ram which you saw, its two horns are the kings of Media and of Persia.
21 Il capro è il re dei Greci; il corno grande che ha tra gli occhi è il primo re;	21 The hairy he-goat is the king of Greece, the large horn between its eyes is the first king.
22 I quattro corni che, rotto quello, sono spuntati al suo posto, son quattro re che s'innalzeranno dalla sua nazione, senza aver però la fortezza di lui.	22 The horn which snapped and the four horns which sprouted in its place are four kingdoms rising fromhis nation but not having his strength.
23 Dopo il regno di questi, quando sarà cresciuta l'iniquità, sorgerà un re impudente e pieno di sottigliezze.	23 'And at the end of their reign, when the measure of their sins is ful , a king wil arise, a proud-faced,ingenious-minded man.
24 La potenza di lui crescerà, ma non per le sue forze; in modo incredibile devasterà ogni cosa, riuscirà nelle sue imprese, ucciderà i valorosi e il popolo dei santi.	24 His power will grow greater and greater, though not through any power of his own; he wil plotincredible schemes, he wil succeed in whatever he undertakes, he wil destroy powerful men and the holy ones,God's people.
25 A suo beneplacito tesserà inganni, insuperbirà nel suo cuore, e pieno d'ogni bene darà la morte a molfissimi, insorgerà contro il principe dei principi, e senza mano d'uomo sarà annichilito.	25 Such wil be his resourcefulness of mind that all his treacherous activities wil succeed. He wil growarrogant of heart and destroy many people by taking them unawares. He wil chal enge the power of the Princeof princes but, without any human intervention, he will be broken.
26 La visione della sera e della mattina, che è stata esposta, è verità. Or tu sigilla la visione; perchè essa avverrà tra molti giorni ».	26 The vision of the evenings and the mornings which has been revealed is true, but you must keep thevision secret, for there are stil many days to go.'
27 Io Daniele svenni e stetti malato per alcuni giorni. Alzatomi sbrigai gli affari del re, ma era stupefatto della visione e non vi era chi me la interpretasse.	27 At this I, Daniel, lost consciousness; I was il for several days. Then I got up to discharge my duties inthe king's service, keeping the vision a secret and still not understanding what it meant.
