Proverbi 21

BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Il cuore del re è come un rivo d'acqua nelle mani del Signore, Egli lo volgerà dovunque gli piace.	1 Like flowing water is a king's heart in Yahweh's hand; he directs it wherever he pleases.
2 Ad ognuno sembra retta la sua condotta, ma il Signore pesa i cuori.	2 All actions are straight in the doer's own eyes, but it is Yahweh who weighs hearts.
3 Praticare la misericordia e la giustizia è più gradito al Signore che i sacrifizi.	3 To do what is upright and just is more pleasing to Yahweh than sacrifice.
4 Occhio altero vuol dire cuore superbo, fiaccola degli empi è il peccato.	4 Haughty eye, proud heart, lamp of the wicked, nothing but sin.
5 I disegni dell'uomo forte conducon sempre all'abbondanza, ogni pigro è sempre nella miseria.	5 The hardworking is thoughtful, and al is gain; too much haste, and all that comes of it is want.
6 Chi ammassa ricchezze con lingua ingannatrice è vano, senza cervello, e cadrà nei lacci di morte.	6 To make a fortune with the help of a lying tongue: such is the idle fantasy of those who look for death.
7 Le rapine degli empi li precipiteranno nella rovina, perchè non han voluto fare1 ciò che è giusto.	7 The violence of the wicked proves their ruin, for they refuse to do what is right.
8 La via dell'uomo perverso è tortuosa, ma la condotta dell'uomo puro è retta.	8 The way of the felon is devious, the conduct of the innocent straight.
9 Meglio dimorare in un angolo del tetto, che abitare in comoda casa con donna litigiosa.	9 Better the corner of a roof to live on than a house shared with a quarrelsome woman.
10 L'anima dell'empio desidera il male, non avrà compassione del suo prossimo.	10 The soul of the wicked is intent on evil, to such a person no neighbour can ever do right.
11 Punito che1 sia l'empio, metterà piti giudizio il semplice, e se frequenterà il sapiente, acquisterà scienza.	11 When a cynic is punished, simpletons grow wiser, but someone of understanding acquires knowledgeby instruction.
12 Il giusto si prende pensiero della casa dell'empio, per ritirare gli empi dal male.	12 The Upright One watches the house of the wicked; he hurls the wicked to destruction.
13 Chi chiude i suoi orecchi al grido del povero, griderà anch'egli e non sarà ascoltato.	13 Whoever refuses to listen to the cry of the weak, wil in turn plead and not be heard.
14 Un regalo fatto in segreto calma l'ira, un dono di sottomano calma il più grande sdegno.	14 Anger is mol ified by a covert gift, raging fury by a present under cover of the cloak.
15 E' una gioia pel giusto praticare la giustizia, è spavento pei malfattori.	15 Doing what is right fills the upright with joy, but evil-doers with terror.
16 L'uomo che1 erra lungi dal cammino della sapienza andrà a stare coi giganti.	16 Whoever strays far from the way of prudence wil rest in the assembly of shadows.
17 Chi ama i banchetti sarà nella miseria, chi ama il vino e gli unguenti non potrà arricchire.	17 Pleasure-lovers stay poor, no one wil grow rich who loves wine and good living.
18 L'empio è dato pel giusto, l'iniquo per gli uomini onesti.	18 The wicked is a ransom for the upright; and the law-breaker for the honest.
19 Meglio abitare in un deserto, che con una donna litigiosa e stizzosa.	19 Better to live in a desert land than with a quarrelsome and irritable woman.
20 Vi son dei tesori preziosi e dell'olio nella casa del giusto, ma l'uomo imprudente li dissiperà.	20 The wise has valuables and oil at home, but a fool soon runs through both.
21 Chi cerca la giustizia e la misericordia troverà vita, giustizia e gloria.	21 Whoever pursues uprightness and faithful love will find life, uprightness and honour.
22 Il saggio dà la scalata alla città dei forti, e distrugge il baluardo in cui essa confidava.	22 A sage can scale a garrisoned city and shatter the rampart on which it relied.
23 Chi custodisce la sua bocca e la sua lingua preserva l'anima sua dagli affanni.	23 Watch kept over mouth and tongue keeps the watcher safe from disaster.
24 Il superbo e l'arrogante si chiama ignorante, perchè nella rabbia agisce con superbia.	24 Insolent, haughty -- the name is 'Cynic'; overweening pride marks such behaviour.
25 I desideri uccidono il pigro, perchè le sue mani non han voluto far nulla.	25 The idler's desires are the death of him, since his hands wil do no work.
26 Egli di continuo brama e desidera, ma il giusto dona senza mai cessare.	26 Al day long the godless is racked by desire, the upright gives without ever refusing.
27 I sacrifizi dell'empio sono abbominevoli, perchè sono offèrti i frutti dei peccati.	27 The sacrifice of the wicked is abhorrent, above al if it is offered for bad motives.
28 Il testimonio bugiardo perirà; l'uomo ubbidiente canterà vittoria.	28 The false witness wil perish, but no one who knows how to listen wil ever be silenced.
29 L'empio fa spudoratamente la faccia tosta, ma l'uomo onesto corregge la sua condotta.	29 The wicked man's strength shows on his face, but the honest it is whose steps are firm.
30 Non c'è sapienza, non c'è prudenza, non c'è consiglio che valga contro il Signore.	30 No wisdom, no understanding, no advice is worth anything before Yahweh.
31 Si prepara il cavallo per il giorno della battaglia, ma è il Signore colui che dà la vittoria.	31 Fit out the cavalry for the day of battle, but the victory is Yahweh's.
