SMITH VAN DYKE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 وملك يهوشافاط ابنه عوضا عنه وتشدد على اسرائيل.	1 When his son Jehoshaphat succeeded him, he made himself stronger against Israel
2 وجعل جيشا في جميع مدن يهوذا الحصينة وجعل وكلاء في ارض يهوذا وفي مدن افرايم التي اخذها آسا ابوه.	2 by stationing troops in al the fortified towns in Judah and by garrisoning Judah and the towns ofEphraim which his father Asa had captured.
3 وكان الرب مع يهوشافاط لانه سار في طرق داود ابيه الاولى ولم يطلب البعليم	3 Yahweh was with Jehoshaphat because he fol owed the example of his father's earlier days and didnot have recourse to Baal,
4 ولكنه طلب اله ابيه وسار في وصاياه لا حسب اعمال اسرائيل.	4 but sought Yahweh, the God of his father, fol owing his commandments and not behaving as Israeldid.
5 فثبّت الرب المملكة في يده وقدم كل يهوذا هدايا ليهوشافاط وكان له غنى وكرامة بكثرة.	5 Because of this, Yahweh put him in secure control of the kingdom, while al Judah gave Jehoshaphatpresents until ample riches and honour were his.
6 وتقوى قلبه في طرق الرب ونزع ايضا المرتفعات والسواري من يهوذا	6 He was so enthusiastic about obeying Yahweh that once again he abolished the high places andsacred poles in Judah.
7 وفي السنة الثالثة لملكه ارسل الى رؤسائه الى بنحائل وعوبديا وزكريا ونثنيئل وميخايا ان يعلّموا في مدن يهوذا	7 In the third year of his reign he sent his leading men-Ben-Hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel andMicaiah, to give instruction in the towns of Judah.
8 ومعهم اللاويون شمعيا ونثنيا وزبديا وعسائيل وشميراموث ويهوناثان وادونيا وطوبيا وطوب ادونيا اللاويون ومعهم اليشمع ويهورام الكاهنان.	8 With them went the Levites: Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan,Adonijah and Tobijah, the Levites; Elishama and Jehoram the priests went with them.
9 فعلّموا في يهوذا ومعهم سفر شريعة الرب وجالوا في جميع مدن يهوذا وعلّموا الشعب.	9 They gave instruction in Judah, having with them the book of the Law of Yahweh, and went round althe towns of Judah instructing the people.
10 وكانت هيبة الرب على جميع ممالك الاراضي التي حول يهوذا فلم يحاربوا يهوشافاط.	10 A panic from Yahweh seized all the kings of the countries surrounding Judah, as a result of whichthey did not make war on Jehoshaphat.
11 وبعض الفلسطينيين اتوا يهوشافاط بهدايا وحمل فضة والعربان ايضا أتوه بغنم من الكباش سبعة آلاف وسبع مئة ومن التيوس سبعة آلاف وسبع مئة	11 Some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents and a load of silver and the Arabs brought himseven thousand seven hundred rams and seven thousand seven hundred he-goats.
12 وكان يهوشافاط يتعظم جدا وبنى في يهوذا حصونا ومدن مخازن.	12 Jehoshaphat became more and more powerful. He built fortresses and storage towns in Judah.
13 وكان له شغل كثير في مدن يهوذا ورجال حرب جبابرة بأس في اورشليم.	13 He accumulated ample supplies in the towns of Judah. He also had warriors, outstanding men, inJerusalem.
14 وهذا عددهم حسب بيوت آبائهم من يهوذا رؤساء الوف. عدنة الرئيس ومعه جبابرة بأس ثلاث مئة الف.	14 According to family, this is how they were classified: Over the commanders of the thousands ofJudah was General Adnah, who had three hundred thousand outstanding men;
15 وبجانبه يهوناثان الرئيس ومعه مئتان وثمانون الفا.	15 Under him was General Jehohanan, who had two hundred and eighty thousand;
16 وبجانبه عمسيا بن زكري المنتدب للرب ومعه مئتا الف جبار باس.	16 Under him was Amasiah son of Zichri, who had volunteered for Yahweh and who had two hundredthousand outstanding men;
17 ومن بنيامين الياداع جبار بأس ومعه من المتسلحين بالقسي والاتراس مئتا الف.	17 That outstanding soldier, Eliada, represented Benjamin, and he had two hundred thousand menarmed with bow and shield;
18 وبجانبه يهوزاباد ومعه مئة وثمانون الفا متجردون للحرب.	18 And under him Jehozabad, who had one hundred and eighty thousand equipped for war.
19 هؤلاء خدام الملك فضلا عن الذين جعلهم الملك في المدن الحصينة في كل يهوذا	19 These were in attendance on the king, apart from those whom the king had stationed in the fortifiedtowns al over Judah.
