SMITH VAN DYKE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 فأكملت السموات والارض وكل جندها.	1 Thus heaven and earth were completed with al their array.
2 وفرغ الله في اليوم السابع من عمله الذي عمل. فاستراح في اليوم السابع من جميع عمله الذي عمل.	2 On the seventh day God had completed the work he had been doing. He rested on the seventh dayafter al the work he had been doing.
3 وبارك الله اليوم السابع وقدسه. لانه فيه استراح من جميع عمله الذي عمل الله خالقا	3 God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on that day he rested after al his work ofcreating.
4 هذه مبادئ السموات والارض حين خلقت. يوم عمل الرب الاله الارض والسموات	4 Such was the story of heaven and earth as they were created. At the time when Yahweh God madeearth and heaven
5 كل شجر البرية لم يكن بعد في الارض وكل عشب البرية لم ينبت بعد. لان الرب الاله لم يكن قد امطر على الارض. ولا كان انسان ليعمل الارض.	5 there was as yet no wild bush on the earth nor had any wild plant yet sprung up, for Yahweh God hadnot sent rain on the earth, nor was there any man to til the soil.
6 ثم كان ضباب يطلع من الارض ويسقي كل وجه الارض.	6 Instead, water flowed out of the ground and watered al the surface of the soil.
7 وجبل الرب الاله آدم ترابا من الارض. ونفخ في انفه نسمة حياة. فصار آدم نفسا حيّة.	7 Yahweh God shaped man from the soil of the ground and blew the breath of life into his nostrils, andman became a living being.
8 وغرس الرب الاله جنّة في عدن شرقا. ووضع هناك آدم الذي جبله.	8 Yahweh God planted a garden in Eden, which is in the east, and there he put the man he hadfashioned.
9 وأنبت الرب الاله من الارض كل شجرة شهية للنظر وجيدة للأكل. وشجرة الحياة في وسط الجنة وشجرة معرفة الخير والشر.	9 From the soil, Yahweh God caused to grow every kind of tree, enticing to look at and good to eat, withthe tree of life in the middle of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
10 وكان نهر يخرج من عدن ليسقي الجنة. ومن هناك ينقسم فيصير اربعة رؤوس.	10 A river flowed from Eden to water the garden, and from there it divided to make four streams.
11 اسم الواحد فيشون. وهو المحيط بجميع ارض الحويلة حيث الذهب.	11 The first is named the Pishon, and this winds al through the land of Havilah where there is gold.
12 وذهب تلك الارض جيد. هناك المقل وحجر الجزع.	12 The gold of this country is pure; bdel ium and cornelian stone are found there.
13 واسم النهر الثاني جيحون. وهو المحيط بجميع ارض كوش.	13 The second river is named the Gihon, and this winds all through the land of Cush.
14 واسم النهر الثالث حدّاقل. وهو الجاري شرقي اشور. والنهر الرابع الفرات	14 The third river is named the Tigris, and this flows to the east of Ashur. The fourth river is theEuphrates.
15 وأخذ الرب الاله آدم ووضعه في جنة عدن ليعملها ويحفظها.	15 Yahweh God took the man and settled him in the garden of Eden to cultivate and take care of it.
16 واوصى الرب الاله آدم قائلا من جميع شجر الجنة تأكل اكلا.	16 Then Yahweh God gave the man this command, 'You are free to eat of al the trees in the garden.
17 واما شجرة معرفة الخير والشر فلا تأكل منها. لانك يوم تأكل منها موتا تموت.	17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you are not to eat; for, the day you eat of that, youare doomed to die.'
18 وقال الرب الاله ليس جيدا ان يكون آدم وحده. فاصنع له معينا نظيره.	18 Yahweh God said, 'It is not right that the man should be alone. I shal make him a helper.'
19 وجبل الرب الاله من الارض كل حيوانات البرية وكل طيور السماء. فاحضرها الى آدم ليرى ماذا يدعوها. وكل ما دعا به آدم ذات نفس حية فهو اسمها.	19 So from the soil Yahweh God fashioned al the wild animals and al the birds of heaven. These hebrought to the man to see what he would call them; each one was to bear the name the man would give it.
20 فدعا آدم باسماء جميع البهائم وطيور السماء وجميع حيوانات البرية. واما لنفسه فلم يجد معينا نظيره.	20 The man gave names to al the cattle, al the birds of heaven and all the wild animals. But no helpersuitable for the man was found for him.
21 فاوقع الرب الاله سباتا على آدم فنام. فأخذ واحدة من اضلاعه وملأ مكانها لحما.	21 Then, Yahweh God made the man fal into a deep sleep. And, while he was asleep, he took one of hisribs and closed the flesh up again forthwith.
22 وبنى الرب الاله الضلع التي اخذها من آدم امرأة واحضرها الى آدم.	22 Yahweh God fashioned the rib he had taken from the man into a woman, and brought her to the man.
23 فقال آدم هذه الآن عظم من عظامي ولحم من لحمي. هذه تدعى امرأة لانها من امرء اخذت.	23 And the man said: This one at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh! She is to be cal edWoman, because she was taken from Man.
24 لذلك يترك الرجل اباه وامه ويلتصق بامرأته ويكونان جسدا واحدا.	24 This is why a man leaves his father and mother and becomes attached to his wife, and they becomeone flesh.
25 وكانا كلاهما عريانين آدم وامرأته وهما لا يخجلان	25 Now, both of them were naked, the man and his wife, but they felt no shame before each other.
