Epístola aos Filipenses 2

SAGRADA BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Se me é possível, pois, alguma consolação em Cristo, algum caridoso estímulo, alguma comunhão no Espírito, alguma ternura e compaixão,	1 So if in Christ there is anything that will move you, any incentive in love, any fel owship in the Spirit, anywarmth or sympathy -- I appeal to you,
2 completai a minha alegria, permanecendo unidos. Tende um mesmo amor, uma só alma e os mesmos pensamentos.	2 make my joy complete by being of a single mind, one in love, one in heart and one in mind.
3 Nada façais por espírito de partido ou vanglória, mas que a humildade vos ensine a considerar os outros superiores a vós mesmos.	3 Nothing is to be done out of jealousy or vanity; instead, out of humility of mind everyone should givepreference to others,
4 Cada qual tenha em vista não os seus próprios interesses, e sim os dos outros.	4 everyone pursuing not selfish interests but those of others.
5 Dedicai-vos mutuamente a estima que se deve em Cristo Jesus.	5 Make your own the mind of Christ Jesus:
6 Sendo ele de condição divina, não se prevaleceu de sua igualdade com Deus,	6 Who, being in the form of God, did not count equality with God something to be grasped.
7 mas aniquilou-se a si mesmo, assumindo a condição de escravo e assemelhando-se aos homens.	7 But he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, becoming as human beings are; and being in everyway like a human being,
8 E, sendo exteriormente reconhecido como homem, humilhou-se ainda mais, tornando-se obediente até a morte, e morte de cruz.	8 he was humbler yet, even to accepting death, death on a cross.
9 Por isso Deus o exaltou soberanamente e lhe outorgou o nome que está acima de todos os nomes,	9 And for this God raised him high, and gave him the name which is above al other names;
10 para que ao nome de Jesus se dobre todo joelho no céu, na terra e nos infernos.	10 so that al beings in the heavens, on earth and in the underworld, should bend the knee at the name ofJesus
11 E toda língua confesse, para a glória de Deus Pai, que Jesus Cristo é Senhor.	11 and that every tongue should acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
12 Assim, meus caríssimos, vós que sempre fostes obedientes, trabalhai na vossa salvação com temor e tremor, não só como quando eu estava entre vós, mas muito mais agora na minha ausência.	12 So, my dear friends, you have always been obedient; your obedience must not be limited to timeswhen I am present. Now that I am absent it must be more in evidence, so work out your salvation in fear andtrembling.
13 Porque é Deus quem, segundo o seu beneplácito, realiza em vós o querer e o executar.	13 It is God who, for his own generous purpose, gives you the intention and the powers to act.
14 Fazei todas as coisas sem murmurações nem críticas,	14 Let your behaviour be free of murmuring and complaining
15 a fim de serdes irrepreensíveis e inocentes, filhos de Deus íntegros no meio de uma sociedade depravada e maliciosa, onde brilhais como luzeiros no mundo,	15 so that you remain faultless and pure, unspoilt children of God surrounded by a deceitful andunderhand brood, shining out among them like bright stars in the world,
16 a ostentar a palavra da vida. Dessa forma, no dia de Cristo, sentirei alegria em não ter corrido em vão, em não ter trabalhado em vão.	16 proffering to it the Word of life. Then I shall have reason to be proud on the Day of Christ, for it wil notbe for nothing that I have run the race and toiled so hard.
17 Ainda que tenha de derramar o meu sangue sobre o sacrifício em homenagem à vossa fé, eu me alegro e vos felicito.	17 Indeed, even if my blood has to be poured as a libation over your sacrifice and the offering of yourfaith, then I shal be glad and join in your rejoicing-
18 Vós outros, também, alegrai-vos e regozijai-vos comigo.	18 and in the same way, you must be glad and join in my rejoicing.
19 Espero no Senhor Jesus enviar-vos dentro em breve Timóteo, para que me traga notícias vossas e eu me sinta reconfortado.	19 I hope, in the Lord Jesus, to send Timothy to you soon, so that my mind may be set at rest when I hearhow you are.
20 Pois não há ninguém como ele, tão unido comigo em sentimento, que com tão sincera afeição se interesse por vós.	20 There is nobody else that I can send who is like him and cares as sincerely for your well-being;
21 Todos os demais buscam os próprios interesses e não os de Jesus Cristo.	21 they al want to work for themselves, not for Jesus Christ.
22 Quanto a ele, conheceis a sua inabalável fidelidade: tal como um filho ao pai, ele se dedica, comigo, ao serviço do Evangelho.	22 But you know what sort of person he has proved himself, working with me for the sake of the gospellike a son with his father.
23 É ele que eu pretendo enviar-vos, logo que eu puder entrever o desfecho da minha causa.	23 That is the man, then, that I am hoping to send to you immediately I can make out what is going tohappen to me;
24 Aliás, confio no Senhor que também eu irei visitar-vos em breve.	24 but I am confident in the Lord that I shal come myself, too, before long.
25 Julguei necessário enviar-vos nosso irmão Epafrodito, meu companheiro de labor e de lutas, que designastes para assistir-me em minhas necessidades.	25 Nevertheless I thought it essential to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother and fel ow-worker andcompanion-in-arms since he came as your representative to look after my needs;
26 Ele estava com saudades de todos vós e visivelmente preocupado, por terdes tido notícia da sua doença.	26 because he was missing you al and was worrying because you had heard that he was il .
27 De fato esteve mal, às portas da morte! Mas Deus teve compaixão dele, e não somente dele, mas também de mim, para que eu não tivesse aflição sobre aflição.	27 Indeed he was seriously il and nearly died; but God took pity on him -- and not only on him but also onme, to spare me one grief on top of another.
28 Esta é a razão por que procurei enviá-lo antes, para que, vendo-o, novamente vos alegreis e eu também fique menos preocupado.	28 So I am sending him back as promptly as I can so that you wil have the joy of seeing him again, andthat wil be some comfort to me in my distress.
29 Portanto, acolhei-o no Senhor com toda a alegria e tratai com grande estima homens assim.	29 Welcome him in the Lord, then, with al joy; hold people like him in honour,
30 Porque foi pela causa de Cristo que esteve próximo da morte, e arriscou a própria vida, para prestar-me os serviços que vós não podíeis prestar em pessoa.	30 because it was for Christ's work that he came so near to dying, risking his life to do the duty to mewhich you could not do yourselves.
