Seconda lettera ai Tessalonicesi 2

LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Vi preghiamo, fratelli, quanto alla venuta del Signore nostro Gesù e la nostra riunione con lui,	1 About the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, brothers, and our being gathered to him:
2 a non lasciarvi agitare così facilmente nel vostro animo né spaventare da oracoli dello Spirito, da parola o da lettera come spedita da noi, quasi che il giorno del Signore sia imminente.	2 please do not be too easily thrown into confusion or alarmed by any manifestation of the Spirit or anystatement or any letter claiming to come from us, suggesting that the Day of the Lord has already arrived.
3 Nessuno vi inganni in alcun modo. Infatti, se prima non viene l'apostasia e non si rivela l'uomo dell'iniquità, il figlio della perdizione,	3 Never let anyone deceive you in any way. It cannot happen until the Great Revolt has taken place andthere has appeared the wicked One, the lost One,
4 colui che si oppone e si innalza su tutto ciò che è chiamato Dio o che è oggetto di culto, fino a sedersi egli stesso nel tempio di Dio, dichiarando se stesso Dio...	4 the Enemy, who raises himself above every so-cal ed God or object of worship to enthrone himself inGod's sanctuary and flaunts the claim that he is God.
5 Non vi ricordate che, essendo ancora in mezzo a voi, vi dicevo queste cose?	5 Surely you remember my tel ing you about this when I was with you?
6 E ora sapete ciò che lo trattiene, in modo che si manifesti nell'ora sua.	6 And you know, too, what is still holding him back from appearing before his appointed time.
7 Infatti il mistero dell'iniquità è già in atto: c'è solo da attendere che chi lo trattiene sia tolto di mezzo.	7 The mystery of wickedness is already at work, but let him who is restraining it once be removed,
8 Allora si manifesterà l'iniquo, che il Signore Gesù distruggerà con il soffio della sua bocca e annienterà con la manifestazione della sua parusia.	8 and the wicked One will appear openly. The Lord wil destroy him with the breath of his mouth and wilannihilate him with his glorious appearance at his coming.
9 La parusia dell'iniquo avviene per opera di Satana, con ogni genere di potenza, con miracoli e prodigi di menzogna,	9 But the coming of the wicked One wil be marked by Satan being at work in al kinds of counterfeitmiracles and signs and wonders,
10 con tutte le seduzioni dell'iniquità per quelli che si perdono, perché non hanno accolto l'amore della verità per essere salvi.	10 and every wicked deception aimed at those who are on the way to destruction because they would notaccept the love of the truth and so be saved.
11 Ecco perché Dio manda ad essi una forza di errore, perché credano alla menzogna,	11 And therefore God sends on them a power that deludes people so that they believe what is false,
12 affinché siano condannati tutti quelli che non hanno creduto alla verità ma si sono compiaciuti dell'ingiustizia.	12 and so that those who do not believe the truth and take their pleasure in wickedness may al becondemned.
13 Ma noi dobbiamo rendere grazie a Dio sempre per voi, fratelli amati dal Signore, perché Dio vi ha scelti fin da principio per la salvezza nella santificazione dello Spirito e nella fede della verità.	13 But we must always thank God for you, brothers whom the Lord loves, because God chose you fromthe beginning to be saved by the Spirit who makes us holy and by faith in the truth.
14 Proprio a questo ha chiamato voi per mezzo del nostro vangelo, per il possesso della gloria del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo.	14 Through our gospel he called you to this so that you should claim as your own the glory of our LordJesus Christ.
15 Pertanto, fratelli, state forti e conservate le tradizioni nelle quali siete stati istruiti, sia per mezzo della nostra viva voce, sia per mezzo della nostra lettera.	15 Stand firm, then, brothers, and keep the traditions that we taught you, whether by word of mouth or byletter.
16 Lo stesso Gesù Cristo, Signore nostro, e Dio nostro Padre che ci ha amati e ci ha dato, per sua grazia, una consolazione eterna e una buona speranza,	16 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father who has given us his love and, through hisgrace, such ceaseless encouragement and such sure hope,
17 consoli e confermi i vostri cuori in ogni opera e parola buona.	17 encourage you and strengthen you in every good word and deed.
