Geremia 15

LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Il Signore mi disse: "Anche se si presentassero Mosè e Samuele al mio cospetto, non avrei cuore per questo popolo. Caccialo dalla mia presenza; che se ne vada!	1 Yahweh said to me, 'Even if Moses and Samuel pleaded before me, I could not sympathise with thispeople! Drive them out of my sight; away with them!
2 Se poi ti diranno: "Dove andremo?", allora dirai loro: Così dice il Signore: Chi è per la morte alla morte! Chi è per la spada alla spada! Chi è per la fame alla fame! E chi è per la schiavitù alla schiavitù!	2 And if they ask you, "Where shal we go?" tel them this, "Yahweh says this: Those for the plague, to the plague; those for the sword, to the sword; those for famine, to famine; those for captivity, to captivity!
3 Io li punirò con quattro tipi di mali, oracolo del Signore: con la spada per massacrare; con i cani per sbranare; con i volatili del cielo e con le bestie del paese per divorare e distruggere.	3 "I shal consign them to four kinds of thing, Yahweh declares: the sword to kil , the dogs to drag away,the birds of heaven and wild animals of earth to devour and to destroy.
4 Io li renderò uno spavento per tutti i regni del paese, a causa di Manasse, figlio di Ezechia, re di Giuda, per quanto ha fatto in Gerusalemme".	4 I shal make them an object of horror to al the kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh son ofHezekiah, king of Judah, and what he did in Jerusalem." '
5 "Chi, dunque, avrà compassione di te, o Gerusalemme, chi farà cordoglio per te? E chi si volterà per domandare della tua salute?	5 Who is there to pity you, Jerusalem, who to grieve for you, who to go out of his way and ask how youare?
6 Tu mi hai respinto, oracolo del Signore, mi hai voltato le spalle. Così ho steso la mia mano contro di te e ti ho distrutta. Sono stanco di aver compassione.	6 'You yourself have rejected me, Yahweh declares, you have turned your back on me; so I havestretched my hand over you and destroyed you. Tired of relenting,
7 Perciò li ho ventilati con il ventilabro alle porte del paese. Ho privato di figli, ho fatto perire il mio popolo, perché dalla loro condotta non si sono ritirati.	7 I have winnowed them with a winnow at the country's gates. They have been bereft, I have destroyedmy people, but they refuse to leave their ways.
8 Sono aumentate le loro vedove più che la sabbia del mare. Faccio venire contro di loro e contro la madre del guerriero un devastatore a mezzogiorno; faccio cadere su di loro, all'improvviso, terrore e spavento.	8 I have made their widows outnumber the sand of the sea. On the mother of young warriors I bring thedestroyer in broad daylight. Suddenly I bring anguish and terror down on her.
9 Langue la madre di sette figli: è sola la sua anima; cala il suo sole quando ancora è giorno; è vergognosa e confusa, mentre il suo residuo lo consegnerò alla spada di fronte ai suoi nemici". Oracolo del Signore.	9 The mother of seven sons grows faint and gasps for breath. It is stil day, but already her sun has set,she is dismayed and distracted; and the rest of them I shal consign to the sword, to their enemies, Yahwehdeclares.'
10 Ahimè, madre mia, che mi hai generato quale uomo di litigio e discordia per tutto il paese. Non do credito né danno credito a me; tutti mi maledicono.	10 A disaster for me, mother, that you bore me to be a man of strife and dissension for the wholecountry. I neither lend nor borrow, yet all of them curse me.
11 Dice il Signore: "Non ti ho, forse, assistito per il meglio? Non ho, forse, imposto su di te, nel tempo della malvagità e dell'angustia, l'inimicizia?	11 Have I not genuinely done my best to serve you, Yahweh? Have I not interceded with you in time ofdisaster and distress!
12 Spezzerà, forse, il ferro il ferro del nord e il rame?	12 'Can iron break the iron of the north and the bronze?
13 La tua ricchezza e i tuoi tesori lascerò depredare senza compenso, per tutti i tuoi peccati e in tutti i tuoi confini.	13 Your wealth and your treasures I shal hand over to plunder, without repayment, because of all yoursins, throughout your territory.
14 Io ti farò servire il tuo nemico in un paese che non conosci, perché un fuoco s'è acceso nella mia ira: contro di voi si accenderà".	14 I shal enslave you to your enemies in a country which you do not know, for my anger has kindled afire that wil burn you up.'
15 Tu lo sai, Signore! Ricordati di me e visitami e vendicami contro i miei persecutori; nella lentezza della tua ira non lasciarmi perire; sappi che ho portato, per causa tua, l'obbrobrio.	15 Yahweh, you know! Remember me, take care of me, and avenge me on my persecutors. Howeverlong your anger endures, do not snatch me away. Realise that I suffer insult for your sake.
16 Furon trovate le tue parole e le divorai; una gioia fu per me la tua parola e una letizia per il mio cuore, perché il tuo nome veniva invocato su di me, Signore, Dio degli eserciti!	16 When your words came, I devoured them: your word was my delight and the joy of my heart; for I wascal ed by your Name, Yahweh, God Sabaoth.
17 Non mi son seduto per divertirmi nell'assemblea dei beffardi. A causa della tua mano solitario mi son seduto, perché di sdegno mi avevi riempito.	17 I never sat in the company of scoffers amusing myself; with your hands on me I held myself aloof,since you had fil ed me with indignation.
18 Perché deve durare il mio dolore per sempre e la ferita mia è incurabile, senza guarigione? Vorrai essere per me come un bugiardo, come acqua inquinata?	18 Why is my suffering continual, my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? Truly, for me you are adeceptive stream with uncertain waters!
19 Per questo dice il Signore: "Se vuoi ritornare, ti farò ritornare, al mio cospetto resterai; e se tu produrrai cose meritevoli, prive di viltà, quale bocca mia tu sarai. Ritorneranno essi a te, ma tu non tornerai a loro.	19 To which Yahweh replied, 'If you repent, I shal restore you to plead before me. If you distinguishbetween the precious and the base, you shal be as my own mouth. They will come back to you, but you mustnot go back to them.
20 Io ti renderò di fronte a questo popolo qual muro di bronzo fortificato; combatteranno contro di te, ma contro di te non prevarranno, perché io sono con te, per salvarti e liberarti. Oracolo del Signore!	20 As far as these people are concerned, I shal make you a fortified wall of bronze. They will fightagainst you but will not overcome you, because I am with you to save you and rescue you, Yahweh declares.
21 Io ti libererò dalla mano malvagia e ti strapperò dal pugno dei violenti".	21 I shal rescue you from the clutches of the wicked and redeem you from the grasp of the violent.'
