LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Quando divenne re, Iotam aveva venticinque anni; regnò sedici anni in Gerusalemme. Il nome di sua madre era Ierusa, figlia di Zadòk.	1 Jotham was twenty-five years old when he came to the throne and he reigned for sixteen years inJerusalem. His mother's name was Jerushah daughter of Zadok.
2 Fece ciò che è retto agli occhi del Signore, seguendo in tutto la condotta del suo padre Ozia, soltanto non entrò nel santuario del Signore, ma il popolo continuava a corrompersi.	2 He did what Yahweh regards as right, just as his father Uzziah had done. Only he did not enterYahweh's sanctuary. But the people continued to do wrong.
3 Egli restaurò la porta Superiore del tempio del Signore e fece molte costruzioni nelle mura dell'Ofel.	3 It was he who built the Upper Gate of the Temple of Yahweh and carried out considerable work on thewal of the Ophel.
4 Fortificò alcune città sulla montagna di Giuda e nelle zone boscose costruì castelli e torri.	4 He also built towns in the highlands of Judah and built forts and towers in the wooded areas.
5 Fece guerra al re degli Ammoniti e lo vinse. Gli Ammoniti gli diedero in quell'anno cento talenti di argento, diecimila kor di grano e altrettanti di orzo. Questo gli fu consegnato dagli Ammoniti anche il secondo e il terzo anno.	5 He also went to war against the king of the Ammonites and defeated them; and the Ammonites had togive him a hundred talents of silver, ten thousand kor of wheat and ten thousand of barley that year. And theAmmonites paid him the same amount, the second and third years afterwards.
6 Iotam divenne potente, perché diresse i suoi passi alla presenza del Signore, suo Dio.	6 Jotham became powerful because he kept an unswerving course before Yahweh his God.

9 Iotam si addormentò con i suoi padri e fu sepolto nella Città di Davide. Al suo posto divenne re Acaz, suo figlio.	9 Then Jotham fel asleep with his ancestors, and was buried in the City of David; his son Ahazsucceeded him.
