2 Timothy 1

1 Paul, an Apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, in accord with the promise of the life which is in Christ Jesus,	1 Pablo, Apóstol de Jesucristo, por la voluntad de Dios, para anunciar la promesa de Vida que está en Cristo Jesús,
2 to Timothy, most beloved son. Grace, mercy, peace, from God the Father and from Christ Jesus our Lord.	2 saluda a Timoteo, su hijo muy querido. Te deseo la gracia, la misericordia y la paz que proceden de Dios Padre y de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
3 I give thanks to God, whom I serve, as my forefathers did, with a pure conscience. For without ceasing I hold the remembrance of you in my prayers, night and day,	3 Doy gracias a Dios, a quien sirvo con una conciencia pura al igual que mis antepasados, recordándote constantemente, de día y de noche, en mis oraciones.
4 desiring to see you, recalling your tears so as to be filled with joy,	4 Al acordarme de tus lágrimas, siento un gran deseo de verte, para que mi felicidad sea completa.
5 calling to mind the same faith, which is in you unfeigned, which also first dwelt in your grandmother, Lois, and in your mother, Eunice, and also, I am certain, in you.	5 Porque tengo presente la sinceridad de tu fe, esa fe que tuvieron tu abuela Loide y tu madre Eunice, y estoy convencido de que tú también tienes.
6 Because of this, I admonish you to revive the grace of God, which is in you by the imposition of my hands.	6 Por eso te recomiendo que reavives el don de Dios que has recibido por la imposición de mis manos.
7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of virtue, and of love, and of self-restraint.	7 Porque el Espíritu que Dios nos ha dado no es un espíritu de temor, sino de fortaleza, de amor y de sobriedad.
8 And so, do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me, his prisoner. Instead, collaborate with the Gospel in accord with the virtue of God,	8 No te avergüences del testimonio de nuestro Señor, ni tampoco de mí, que soy su prisionero. Al contrario, comparte conmigo los sufrimientos que es necesario padecer por Evangelio, animado con la fortaleza de Dios.
9 who has freed us and has called us to his holy vocation, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus, before the ages of time.	9 El nos salvó y nos eligió con su santo llamado, no por nuestras obras, sino por su propia iniciativa y por la gracia: esa gracia que nos concedió en Cristo Jesús, desde toda la eternidad,
10 And this has now been made manifest by the illumination of our Savior Jesus Christ, who certainly has destroyed death, and who has also illuminated life and incorruption through the Gospel.	10 y que ahora se ha revelado en la Manifestación de nuestro Salvador Jesucristo. Porque él destruyó la muerte e hizo brillar la vida incorruptible, mediante la Buena Noticia,
11 Of this Gospel, I have been appointed a preacher, and an Apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.	11 de la cual he sido constituido heraldo, Apóstol y maestro.
12 For this reason, I also suffer these things. But I am not confounded. For I know in whom I have believed, and I am certain that he has the power to preserve what was entrusted to me, unto that day.	12 Por eso soporto esta prueba. Pero no me avergüenzo, porque sé en quien he puesto mi confianza, y estoy convencido de que él es capaz de conservar hasta aquel Día el bien que me ha encomendado.
13 Hold to the kind of sound words that you have heard from me in the faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.	13 Toma como norma las saludables lecciones de fe y de amor a Cristo Jesús que has escuchado de mí.
14 Guard the good entrusted to you through the Holy Spirit, who lives within us.	14 Conserva lo que se te ha confiado, con la ayuda del Espíritu Santo que habita en nosotros.
15 Know this: that all those who are in Asia have turned away from me, among whom are Phigellus and Hermogenes.	15 Ya sabes que todos los de Asia se apartaron de mí, entre ellos Figelo y Hermógenes.
16 May the Lord have mercy on the house of Onesiphorus, because he has often refreshed me, and he has not been ashamed of my chains.	16 Que el Señor tenga misericordia de la familia de Onesíforo, porque él muchas veces me ha reconfortado y no se avergonzó de que yo estuviera preso.
17 Instead, when he had arrived in Rome, he anxiously sought me and found me.	17 Por el contrario, desde que llegó a Roma, no dejó de buscarme hasta que me encontró.
18 May the Lord grant to him to obtain mercy from the Lord in that day. And you know well in how many ways he has ministered to me at Ephesus.	18 Que Dios, en aquel Día, le permita alcanzar misericordia delante del Señor. Tú conoces mejor que nadie los servicios que él me prestó en Efeso.
