Joshua 1

1 And after the death of Moses, the servant of the Lord, it happened that the Lord spoke to Joshua, the son of Nun, the minister of Moses, and he said to him:	1 È fatto, che dopo la morte di Moisè servo di Dio parlasse Iddio Signore a Iosuè, figliuolo di Nun, ministro di Moisè, e sì gli dicesse:
2 “Moses, my servant, has died. Rise up, and cross this Jordan, you and all the people with you, into the land which I will give to the sons of Israel.	2 Il servo mio Moisè sì è morto; lièvati suso, e passa questo (fiume) Giordano, tu e tutto il popolo (tuo) teco, nella terra ch' io darò alli figliuoli d' Israel.
3 I will deliver to you every place that the step of your foot will tread upon, just as I said to Moses.	3 Ogni luogo dove porrà il piede vostro il segno della pianta vostra (o della pianta sua) sì vi darò, come io parlai (e dissi e narrai) a Moisè.
4 From the desert and from Lebanon, even to the great river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, as far as the great sea opposite the setting of the sun, shall be your border.	4 Dal deserto e dal Libano, insino al grande fiume di Eufrate, tutta la terra degli Etei, insino al mare maggiore il quale si è dirimpetto colà dove tramonta il sole, sarà il vostro termine (e il vostro confine).
5 No one will be able to resist you during all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so will I be with you. I will not leave you, nor will I forsake you.	5 E niuna persona vi potrà contrastare tutti i di della vita vostra; siccome fui con Moisè, così sarò teco; non ti lascerò, e non ti abbandonerò mai.
6 Be strengthened and be steadfast. For you shall divide by lot, to this people, the land about which I swore to their fathers that I would deliver it to them.	6 Confòrtati, e sii (forte e) robusto; imperciò che tu dividerai per sorte a questo popolo la terra la quale io giurai a' suoi padri, ch' io la darei loro.
7 Therefore, be strengthened and be very steadfast, so that you may observe and accomplish the entire law, which Moses, my servant, instructed to you. You may not turn aside from it to the right, nor to the left. So may you understand all that you should do.	7 Adunque confòrtati, e sii robusto e forte, acciò che tu servi e facci tutta la legge la quale ti comandò Moisè, servo mio; non ti partire da lei, nè da mano ritta nè da mano manca, acciò che tu intenda tutte le cose (e conoschi) che tu fai.
8 The book of this law shall not depart from your mouth. Instead, you shall meditate upon it, day and night, so that you may observe and do all the things that are written in it. Then you shall direct your way and understand it.	8 Non si partirà il volume di questa legge della tua bocca, ma pensera'vi dentro dì e notte, acciò che tu guardi e facci ciò che v' è entro iscritto; e allora dirizzerai la tua via, e sì la intenderai (e conoscerai).
9 Behold, I am instructing you. Be strengthened, and be steadfast. Do not dread, and do not fear. For the Lord your God is with you in all things, wherever you may go.”	9 Ecco ch' io ti comando, che ti conforti e sii robusto; non avere paura e (non ti sbigottire e) non temere, imperciò che Iddio tuo Signore sì è teco in qualunque luogo tu anderai (con tutte le cose che farai).
10 And Joshua instructed the leaders of the people, saying: “Cross through the midst of the camp, and command the people, and say:	10 E comandò Iosuè a tutti i principi del popolo, e disse: passate per mezzo del campo, e comandate al popolo, e sì dite:
11 ‘Prepare your food supplies. For after the third day, you shall cross the Jordan, and you shall enter so as to possess the land, which the Lord your God will give to you.’ ”	11 (Raunatevi e apparecchiatevi, e ancora) di cibi provedetevi; imperciò che dopo il terzo dì voi passerete il (fiume) Giordano, ed entrerete a possedere la terra la quale Iddio vostro vi dee dare.
12 Likewise, he said to the Reubenites and to the Gadites, and to the one half tribe of Manasseh:	12 E disse a quelli della schiatta di Ruben, e a quelli della schiatta di Gad, e alla metà della schiatta di Manasse:
13 “Remember the words, which Moses, the servant of the Lord, instructed to you, saying: ‘The Lord your God has given you rest, and has given you all the land.’	13 Ricordivi delle parole, le quali vi comandò Moisè servo di Dio, dicendo: Iddio vostro Signore sì v' ha dato riposo e tutta la terra (vostra).
14 Your wives and sons, as well as the cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses delivered to you beyond the Jordan. But as for you, pass over with weapons, before your brothers, all you who are strong of hand, and fight on their behalf,	14 E le vostre mogli e li vostri figliuoli e il vostro bestiame sì rimarranno nella terra, la quale vi diede (Iddio per mano di) Moisè, di là dal (fiume) Giordano; ma voi andate innanzi (alli vostri figliuoli e) alli vostri fratelli, armati tutti e buoni combattitori; e sì combatterete per loro,
15 until the Lord gives rest to your brothers, just as he has given to you, and until they also possess the land, which the Lord your God will give to them. And so shall you be returned to the land of your possession. And you shall live in the land, which Moses, the servant of the Lord, gave to you beyond the Jordan, opposite the rising of the sun.”	15 d'insino a tanto che [lo Signore] dia pace e riposo alli vostri fratelli, siccome egli hae dato a voi, e sì posseggano la terra la quale Iddio vostro Signore dee dare loro; e questo fatto, sì ritornate nella terra della vostra possessione (e abitazione) e sì v' abiterete dentro; la quale vi diede Moisè servo di Dio di là dal (fiume) Giordano, dirimpetto colà dove il sole si leva (cioè dall'oriente).
16 And they responded to Joshua, and they said: “All that you have instructed to us, we shall do. And wherever you will send us, we shall go.	16 E risposero costoro a Iosuè, e dissono: tutte quelle cose che ci hai comandate faremo, e dovunque tu ci manderai anderemo.
17 Just as we obeyed Moses in all things, so shall we obey you also. But may the Lord your God be with you, just as he was with Moses.	17 E come fummo ubbidienti a Moisè in tutte le cose (che ci comandò), così obbediremo a te; pure che il Signore sia teco, come fu con Moisè (servo suo).
18 Whoever will contradict your mouth, and whoever will not obey all of your words, which you will instruct to him, let him die. But may you be strengthened, and may you act manfully.”	18 Chiunque sarà quegli che avrà contradetto alla parola della tua bocca, e non avrà obbedito alli tuoi sermoni (e a quelli) che tu (dirai e) avrai comandati, sia morto; ma fa che. tu ti conforti e facci fortemente e arditamente (e valentemente ti porta nella vita tua, sicchè dopo la morte tua sia reputato compagno di Moisè, il quale fu perfetto servo di Dio).
