1 And it happened that, on one of the days when he was teaching the people in the temple and preaching the Gospel, the leaders of the priests, and the scribes, gathered together with the elders,	1 ED avvenne un di que’ giorni, che, mentre egli insegnava il popolo nel tempio, ed evangelizzava, i principali sacerdoti, e gli Scribi, con gli anziani, sopraggiunsero.
2 and they spoke to him, saying: “Tell us, by what authority do you do these things? Or, who is it that has given you this authority?”	2 E gli dissero: Dicci di quale autorità tu fai coteste cose; o, chi è colui che ti ha data cotesta autorità.
3 And in response, Jesus said to them: “I will also question you about one word. Respond to me:	3 Ed egli, rispondendo, disse loro: Anch’io vi domanderò una cosa; e voi ditemela:
4 The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men?”	4 Il battesimo di Giovanni era egli dal cielo, o dagli uomini?
5 So they discussed it among themselves, saying: “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Then why did you not believe him?’	5 Ed essi ragionavan fra loro, dicendo: Se diciamo che era dal cielo, egli ci dirà: Perchè dunque non gli credeste?
6 But if we say, ‘Of men,’ the whole people will stone us. For they are certain that John was a prophet.”	6 Se altresì diciamo che era dagli uomini, tutto il popolo ci lapiderà; perciocchè egli è persuaso che Giovanni era profeta.
7 And so they responded that they did not know where it was from.	7 Risposero adunque che non sapevano onde egli fosse.
8 And Jesus said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.”	8 E Gesù disse loro: Io ancora non vi dirò di quale autorità io fo queste cose
9 Then he began to tell the people this parable: “A man planted a vineyard, and he loaned it to settlers, and he was on a sojourn for a long time.	9 POI prese a dire al popolo questa parabola. Un uomo piantò una vigna, e l’allogò a certi lavoratori, e se ne andò in viaggio, e dimorò fuori lungo tempo.
10 And in due time, he sent a servant to the farmers, so that they would give to him from the fruit of the vineyard. And they beat him and drove him away, empty-handed.	10 E nella stagione mandò un servitore a que’ lavoratori, acciocchè gli desser del frutto della vigna; ma i lavoratori, battutolo, lo rimandarono vuoto.
11 And he continued to send another servant. But beating him and treating him with contempt, they likewise sent him away, empty-handed.	11 Ed egli di nuovo vi mandò un altro servitore; ma essi, battuto ancora lui, e vituperatolo, lo rimandarono vuoto.
12 And he continued to send a third. And wounding him also, they drove him away.	12 Ed egli ne mandò ancora un terzo; ma essi, ferito ancora costui, lo cacciarono.
13 Then the lord of the vineyard said: ‘What shall I do? I will send my beloved son. Perhaps when they have seen him, they will respect him.’	13 E il signor della vigna disse: Che farò? io vi manderò il mio diletto figliuolo; forse, quando lo vedranno, gli porteranno rispetto.
14 And when the settlers had seen him, they discussed it among themselves, saying: ‘This one is the heir. Let us kill him, so that the inheritance will be ours.’	14 Ma i lavoratori, vedutolo, ragionaron fra loro, dicendo: Costui è l’erede; venite, uccidiamolo, acciocchè l’eredità divenga nostra.
15 And forcing him outside of the vineyard, they killed him. What, then, will the lord of the vineyard do to them?”	15 E, cacciatolo fuor della vigna, l’uccisero. Che farà loro adunque il signor della vigna?
16 “He will come and destroy those settlers, and he will give the vineyard to others.” And upon hearing this, they said to him, “Let it not be.”	16 Egli verrà, e distruggerà que’ lavoratori, e darà la vigna ad altri. Ma essi, udito ciò, dissero: Così non sia.
17 Then, gazing at them, he said: “Then what does this mean, which is written: ‘The stone which the builders have rejected, the same has become the head of the corner?’	17 Ed egli, riguardatili in faccia, disse: Che cosa adunque è questo ch’è scritto: La pietra che gli edificatori hanno riprovata è divenuta il capo del cantone?
18 Everyone who falls on that stone will be shattered. And anyone upon whom it falls will be crushed.”	18 Chiunque caderà sopra quella pietra sarà fiaccato, ed ella triterà colui sopra cui ella caderà.
19 And the leaders of the priests, and the scribes, were seeking to lay hands on him in that same hour, but they feared the people. For they realized that he had spoken this parable about them.	19 ED i principali sacerdoti, e gli Scribi, cercavano in quella stessa ora di mettergli le mani addosso, perciocchè riconobbero ch’egli avea detta quella parabola contro a loro; ma temettero il popolo
20 And being attentive, they sent traitors, who would pretend that they were just, so that they might catch him in his words and then hand him over to the power and authority of the procurator.	20 E, spiandolo, gli mandarono degl’insidiatori, che simulassero d’esser giusti, per soprapprenderlo in parole; per darlo in man della signoria, ed alla podestà del governatore.
21 And they questioned him, saying: “Teacher, we know that you speak and teach correctly, and that you do not consider anyone’s status, but you teach the way of God in truth.	21 E quelli gli fecero una domanda, dicendo: Maestro, noi sappiamo che tu parli ed insegni dirittamente, e che non hai riguardo alla qualità delle persone, ma insegni la via di Dio in verità;
22 Is it lawful for us to pay the tribute to Caesar, or not?”	22 ecci egli lecito di pagare il tributo a Cesare, o no?
23 But realizing their deceitfulness, he said to them: “Why do you test me?	23 Ed egli, avvedutosi della loro astuzia, disse loro: Perchè mi tentate?
24 Show me a denarius. Whose image and inscription does it have?” In response, they said to him, “Caesar’s.”	24 Mostratemi un denaro; di cui porta egli la figura, e la soprascritta? Ed essi, rispondendo, dissero: Di Cesare.
25 And so, he said to them: “Then repay the things that are Caesar’s, to Caesar, and the things that are God’s, to God.”	25 Ed egli disse loro: Rendete adunque a Cesare le cose di Cesare, e a Dio le cose di Dio.
26 And they were not able to contradict his word before the people. And being amazed at his answer, they were silent.	26 E non lo poterono soprapprendere in parole davanti al popolo; e, maravigliatisi della sua risposta, si tacquero
27 Now some of the Sadducees, who deny that there is a resurrection, approached him. And they questioned him,	27 OR alcuni de’ Sadducei, i quali pretendono non esservi risurrezione, accostatisi, lo domandarono, dicendo:
28 saying: “Teacher, Moses wrote for us: If any man’s brother will have died, having a wife, and if he does not have any children, then his brother should take her as his wife, and he should raise up offspring for his brother.	28 Maestro, Mosè ci ha scritto, che se il fratello d’alcuno muore avendo moglie, e muore senza figliuoli, il suo fratello prenda la moglie, e susciti progenie al suo fratello.
29 And so there were seven brothers. And the first took a wife, and he died without sons.	29 Or vi furono sette fratelli; e il primo, presa moglie, morì senza figliuoli.
30 And the next one married her, and he also died without a son.	30 E il secondo prese quella moglie, e morì anch’egli senza figliuoli.
31 And the third married her, and similarly all seven, and none of them left behind any offspring, and they each died.	31 Poi il terzo la prese; e simigliantemente tutti e sette; e morirono senza aver lasciati figliuoli.
32 Last of all, the woman also died.	32 Ora, dopo tutti, morì anche la donna.
33 In the resurrection, then, whose wife will she be? For certainly all seven had her as a wife.”	33 Nella risurrezione adunque, di chi di loro sarà ella moglie? poichè tutti e sette l’hanno avuta per moglie.
34 And so, Jesus said to them: “The children of this age marry and are given in marriage.	34 E Gesù, rispondendo, disse loro: I figliuoli di questo secolo sposano, e son maritati;
35 Yet truly, those who shall be held worthy of that age, and of the resurrection from the dead, will neither be married, nor take wives.	35 ma coloro che saranno reputati degni d’ottener quel secolo, e la risurrezion de’ morti, non isposano, e non son maritati.
36 For they can no longer die. For they are equal to the Angels, and they are children of God, since they are children of the resurrection.	36 Perciocchè ancora non possono più morire; poichè siano pari agli angeli; e son figliuoli di Dio, essendo figliuoli della risurrezione.
37 For in truth, the dead do rise again, as Moses also showed beside the bush, when he called the Lord: ‘The God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’	37 Or che i morti risuscitino, Mosè stesso lo dichiarò presso al pruno, quando egli nomina il Signore l’Iddio d’Abrahamo, e l’Iddio d’Isacco, e l’Iddio di Giacobbe.
38 And so he is not the God of the dead, but of the living. For all are alive to him.”	38 Or egli non è Dio de’ morti, anzi de’ viventi; poichè tutti vivono per lui
39 Then some of the scribes, in response, said to him, “Teacher, you have spoken well.”	39 Ed alcuni degli Scribi gli fecer motto, e dissero: Maestro, bene hai detto.
40 And they no longer dared to question him about anything.	40 E non ardirono più fargli alcuna domanda.
41 But he said to them: “How can they say that the Christ is the son of David?	41 ED egli disse loro: Come dicono che il Cristo sia figliuolo di Davide?
42 Even David himself says, in the book of Psalms: ‘The Lord said to my Lord, sit at my right hand,	42 E pur Davide stesso, nel libro de’ Salmi, dice: Il Signore ha detto al mio Signore: Siedi alla mia destra,
43 until I set your enemies as your footstool.’	43 finchè io abbia posti i tuoi nemici per iscannello de’ tuoi piedi.
44 Therefore, David calls him Lord. So how can he be his son?”	44 Davide adunque lo chiama Signore. E come è egli suo figliuolo?
45 Now in the hearing of all the people, he said to his disciples:	45 ORA, mentre tutto il popolo stava ascoltando, egli disse a’ suoi discepoli.
46 “Be cautious of the scribes, who choose to walk in long robes, and who love greetings in the marketplace, and the first chairs in the synagogues, and the first places at table during feasts,	46 Guardatevi dagli Scribi, i quali volentieri passeggiano in vesti lunghe, ed amano le salutazioni nelle piazze, e i primi seggi nelle raunanze, e i primi luoghi ne’ conviti.
47 who devour the houses of widows, feigning long prayers. These will receive the greater damnation.”	47 I quali divorano le case delle vedove, eziandio sotto specie di far lunghe orazioni; essi ne riceveranno maggior condannazione
