1 And rising up, he went from there into the area of Judea beyond the Jordan. And again, the crowd came together before him. And just as he was accustomed to do, again he taught them.	1 Jésus quitta cet endroit. Voici qu’il arrive aux frontières de la Judée par l’autre rive du Jourdain et de nouveau des foules se rassemblent autour de lui. Il recommence donc à les enseigner comme il avait coutume de faire.
2 And approaching, the Pharisees questioned him, testing him: “Is it lawful for a man to dismiss his wife?”	2 À ce moment (se présentèrent des Pharisiens, et) ils lui posèrent cette question pour le mettre à l’épreuve: "Un mari est-il autorisé à renvoyer sa femme?”
3 But in response, he said to them, “What did Moses instruct you?”	3 Et lui leur demande: "Qu’est-ce que Moïse vous a commandé?”
4 And they said, “Moses gave permission to write a bill of divorce and to dismiss her.”	4 Ils répondent: "Moïse a permis d’écrire un acte de divorce et de renvoyer la femme.”
5 But Jesus responded by saying: “It was due to the hardness of your heart that he wrote that precept for you.	5 Jésus leur dit: "Il a écrit là une loi adaptée à votre cœur endurci.
6 But from the beginning of creation, God made them male and female.	6 Mais Dieu, au commencement du monde, les fit homme et femme.
7 Because of this, a man shall leave behind his father and mother, and he shall cling to his wife.	7 Pour cette raison, l’homme quittera son père et sa mère
8 And these two shall be one in flesh. And so, they are now, not two, but one flesh.	8 et les deux seront une seule chair. “Ils ne sont plus deux, mais une seule chair.
9 Therefore, what God has joined together, let no man separate.”	9 Que l’homme ne sépare pas ce que Dieu a uni.”
10 And again, in the house, his disciples questioned him about the same thing.	10 De retour à la maison, les disciples l’interrogent de nouveau à ce sujet
11 And he said to them: “Whoever dismisses his wife, and marries another, commits adultery against her.	11 et il leur déclare: "Celui qui renvoie sa femme et en épouse une autre, commet l’adultère à son égard;
12 And if a wife dismisses her husband, and is married to another, she commits adultery.”	12 et si une femme renvoie son mari et en épouse un autre, elle aussi commet l’adultère.”
13 And they brought to him the little children, so that he might touch them. But the disciples admonished those who brought them.	13 On lui amenait de petits enfants pour qu’il les touche; mais les disciples leur faisaient des observations.
14 But when Jesus saw this, he took offense, and he said to them: “Allow the little ones to come to me, and do not prohibit them. For of such as these is the kingdom of God.	14 Voyant cela Jésus se fâcha et leur dit: "Laissez les petits enfants venir à moi, ne les empêchez pas. Sachez que le Royaume de Dieu est pour ceux qui leur ressemblent.
15 Amen I say to you, whoever will not accept the kingdom of God like a little child, will not enter into it.”	15 En vérité, je vous le dis: celui qui n’accueille pas le Royaume de Dieu comme un enfant n’y entrera pas.”
16 And embracing them, and laying his hands upon them, he blessed them.	16 Puis il les embrassa et les bénit en leur imposant les mains.
17 And when he had departed on the way, a certain one, running up and kneeling before him, asked him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do, so that I may secure eternal life?”	17 Comme Jésus se mettait en route, un homme courut au-devant de lui; il tomba à genoux devant lui et l’interrogea: "Bon maître, que dois-je faire pour hériter de la vie éternelle?”
18 But Jesus said to him, “Why call me good? No one is good except the one God.	18 Jésus lui répondit: "Pourquoi m’appelles-tu: ‘bon’? Dieu seul est bon, nul autre que lui.
19 You know the precepts: “Do not commit adultery. Do not kill. Do not steal. Do not speak false testimony. Do not deceive. Honor your father and mother.”	19 Tu connais les commandements: Ne tue pas, ne commets pas l’adultère, ne vole pas, ne porte pas de faux témoignage, ne prends rien à autrui, respecte ton père et ta mère…”
20 But in response, he said to him, “Teacher, all these I have observed from my youth.”	20 L’autre déclara: "Maître, tout cela, je l’ai observé depuis ma jeunesse.”
21 Then Jesus, gazing at him, loved him, and he said to him: “One thing is lacking to you. Go, sell whatever you have, and give to the poor, and then you will have treasure in heaven. And come, follow me.”	21 Alors Jésus le fixa du regard et l’aima; il lui dit: "Une seule chose te manque. Va, vends ce que tu as et donne-le aux pauvres, tu auras ainsi un trésor dans le ciel; puis reviens et suis-moi.”
22 But he went away grieving, having been greatly saddened by the word. For he had many possessions.	22 L’homme fut très heurté par cette parole car il avait de grands biens; il s’éloigna fort triste.
23 And Jesus, looking around, said to his disciples, “How difficult it is for those who have riches to enter into the kingdom of God!”	23 Alors Jésus jeta un regard sur ses disciples autour de lui; il déclara: "Comme il est difficile à ceux qui ont de l’argent d’entrer dans le Royaume de Dieu.”
24 And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus, answering again, said to them: “Little sons, how difficult it is for those who trust in money to enter into the kingdom of God!	24 En entendant ces paroles, les disciples furent déconcertés; mais de nouveau Jésus leur dit: "Mes enfants, comme il est difficile d’entrer dans le Royaume de Dieu.
25 It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for the rich to enter into the kingdom of God.”	25 Il est plus facile pour un chameau de passer par le trou d’une aiguille, que pour un riche d’entrer dans le Royaume de Dieu.”
26 And they wondered even more, saying among themselves, “Who, then, can be saved?”	26 Les disciples étaient complètement déroutés et se demandaient les uns aux autres: "Qui donc sera sauvé?”
27 And Jesus, gazing at them, said: “With men it is impossible; but not with God. For with God all things are possible.”	27 Jésus les fixa du regard et leur dit: "Pour les hommes, c’est impossible, mais non pour Dieu. Car pour Dieu tout est possible.”
28 And Peter began to say to him, “Behold, we have left all things and have followed you.”	28 Pierre fit alors remarquer: "Nous, nous avons tout laissé pour te suivre.”
29 In response, Jesus said: “Amen I say to you, There is no one who has left behind house, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or children, or land, for my sake and for the Gospel,	29 Jésus répondit: "En vérité, je vous le dis: personne ne laissera maison, frères et sœurs, mère, père ou enfants, ou champs, à cause de moi et de l’Évangile,
30 who will not receive one hundred times as much, now in this time: houses, and brothers, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and land, with persecutions, and in the future age eternal life.	30 sans recevoir cent fois plus dès à présent en ce monde, en maisons, frères, sœurs, mères, enfants et champs, même avec les persécutions; et dans le monde à venir il aura la vie éternelle.
31 But many of the first shall be last, and the last shall be first.”	31 Beaucoup qui sont parmi les premiers seront derniers, mais les derniers seront premiers.”
32 Now they were on the way ascending to Jerusalem. And Jesus went ahead of them, and they were astonished. And those following him were afraid. And again, taking aside the twelve, he began to tell them what was about to happen to him.	32 Ils étaient en route, montant à Jérusalem, et Jésus marchait devant eux. Ils étaient déconcertés, et ceux qui suivaient avaient peur. De nouveau Jésus prit avec lui les Douze pour leur dire ce qui allait lui arriver:
33 “For behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man will be handed over to the leaders of the priests, and to the scribes, and the elders. And they will condemn him to death, and they will hand him over to the Gentiles.	33 -“Maintenant n ous montons à Jérusalem et le Fils de l’Homme va être livré aux chefs des prêtres et aux maîtres de la Loi qui le condamneront à mort et le remettront aux mains des étrangers;
34 And they will mock him, and spit on him, and scourge him, and put him to death. And on the third day, he will rise again.”	34 ils vont l’humilier, cracher sur lui, le fouetter et le tuer, mais il ressuscitera le troisième jour.”
35 And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, drew near to him, saying, “Teacher, we wish that whatever we will ask, you would do for us.”	35 C’est alors que Jacques et Jean, les fils de Zébédée, s’approchent de lui et lui disent: "Maître, nous voulons que tu fasses pour nous ce que nous allons te demander.”
36 But he said to them, “What do you want me to do for you?”	36 Jésus leur répond: "Que voulez-vous que je fasse pour vous?”
37 And they said, “Grant to us that we may sit, one at your right and the other at your left, in your glory.”	37 Ils reprennent: "Accorde-nous d’être assis, l’un à ta droite et l’autre à ta gauche, pour partager ta gloire.”
38 But Jesus said to them: “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink from the chalice from which I drink, or to be baptized with the baptism with which I am to be baptized?”	38 Jésus leur dit: "Vous ne savez pas ce que vous demandez. Pouvez-vous boire la coupe que je vais boire, ou être baptisés du baptême dont je vais être baptisé?”
39 But they said to him, “We can.” Then Jesus said to them: “Indeed, you shall drink from the chalice, from which I drink; and you shall be baptized with the baptism, with which I am to be baptized.	39 Ils lui disent: "Nous le pouvons!” Jésus leur dit: "Vous boirez donc la coupe que je vais boire et vous serez baptisés du même baptême que moi.
40 But to sit at my right, or at my left, is not mine to give to you, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared.”	40 Mais les sièges à ma droite ou à ma gauche, ce n’est pas à moi de les donner; ils sont réservés à d’autres.”
41 And the ten, upon hearing this, began to be indignant toward James and John.	41 En entendant cela, les dix autres s’indignent contre Jacques et Jean.
42 But Jesus, calling them, said to them: “You know that those who seem to be leaders among the Gentiles dominate them, and their leaders exercise authority over them.	42 Alors Jésus les appelle et leur dit: "Vous savez que chez les païens, ceux qui font figure de chefs se conduisent en dictateurs, et leurs grands personnages abusent de leur autorité.
43 But it is not to be this way among you. Instead, whoever would become greater shall be your minister;	43 Cela ne devra pas être chez vous. “Si l’un d’entre vous veut être grand, qu’il se fasse votre serviteur.
44 and whoever will be first among you shall be the servant of all.	44 Et si l’un d’entre vous veut être le premier, qu’il soit l’esclave de tous.
45 So, too, the Son of man has not come so that they would minister to him, but so that he would minister and would give his life as a redemption for many.”	45 Car le Fils de l’Homme n’est pas venu pour être servi, mais pour servir et donner sa vie en rançon pour la multitude.
46 And they went to Jericho. And as he was setting out from Jericho with his disciples and a very numerous multitude, Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, a blind man, sat begging beside the way.	46 Ils arrivent à Jéricho. Puis, comme il sort de la ville avec ses disciples et bon nombre de gens, un mendiant est là assis au bord du chemin; c’est Bartimée, le fils de Timée, et il est aveugle.
47 And when he had heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and to say, “Jesus, Son of David, take pity on me.”	47 Quand il apprend que c’est Jésus de Nazareth, il se met à crier: "Jésus, fils de David, aie pitié de moi!”
48 And many admonished him to be quiet. But he cried out all the more, “Son of David, take pity on me.”	48 Beaucoup le sermonnent pour le faire taire, mais il crie encore plus fort: "Fils de David, aie pitié de moi!”
49 And Jesus, standing still, instructed him to be called. And they called the blind man, saying to him: “Be at peace. Arise. He is calling you.”	49 Jésus s’arrête et dit: "Appelez-le.” On appelle l’aveugle et on lui dit: "Courage, lève-toi, il t’appelle.”
50 And casting aside his garment, he leapt up and went to him.	50 L’aveugle laisse son manteau, et d’un bond il est près de Jésus.
51 And in response, Jesus said to him, “What do you want, that I should do for you?” And the blind man said to him, “Master, that I may see.”	51 Jésus lui dit: "Que veux-tu que je fasse pour toi?” L’aveugle répond: "Rabbouni, que je voie!”
52 Then Jesus said to him, “Go, your faith has made you whole.” And immediately he saw, and he followed him on the way.	52 Alors Jésus lui dit: "Va! ta foi t’a sauvé!” À l’instant même cet homme voit; et il se met à suivre Jésus sur le chemin.
