Matthew 19

1 And it happened that, when Jesus had completed these words, he moved away from Galilee, and he arrived within the borders of Judea, across the Jordan.	1 Avendo Iesù finiti questi parlari, egli si partì da Galilea, e venne nelle confine di Iudea oltre il Giordano.
2 And great crowds followed him, and he healed them there.	2 E molte turbe seguitoronlo; e quivi egli sanò loro.
3 And the Pharisees approached him, testing him, and saying, “Is it lawful for a man to separate from his wife, no matter what the cause?”	3 E a lui andorono li Farisei, tentandolo e dicendo se all' uomo è lecito per qualunque cagione lasciare la mogliere sua?
4 And he said to them in response, “Have you not read that he who made man from the beginning, made them male and female?” And he said:	4 Alli quali respose Iesù: non avete leggiuto, come egli che fece dal principio loro, masculo e femina gli fe', e disse:
5 “For this reason, a man shall separate from father and mother, and he shall cling to his wife, and these two shall become one flesh.	5 per questo l'uomo lascerà il padre e la madre, e accosterassi alla mogliere sua, e saranno due in una carne.
6 And so, now they are not two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no man separate.”	6 Adunque non sono già due, ma una carne. Adunque quel che Dio ha congiunto, l' uomo non separi.
7 They said to him, “Then why did Moses command him to give a bill of divorce, and to separate?”	7 E quelli li dicono: il comandò che si dovesse dare e di lasciarla? perchè adunque Moisè il libello del repudio,
8 He said to them: “Although Moses permitted you to separate from your wives, due to the hardness of your heart, it was not that way from the beginning.	8 Ed egli disse: imperò che Moisè a voi permesse lasciare le vostre mogliere, considerata la durezza del cuore vostro; ma dal principio non fu a tal modo.
9 And I say to you, that whoever will have separated from his wife, except because of fornication, and who will have married another, commits adultery, and whoever will have married her who has been separated, commits adultery.”	9 Ma io vi dico che qualunque lassarà la mogliere sua, salvo per fornicazione, e menarà l' altra, egli commette fornicazione.
10 His disciples said to him, “If such is the case for a man with a wife, then it is not expedient to marry.”	10 Al qual dicono li suoi discepoli: se all' uomo è tale cagione con la mogliere, non bisogna maritarsi.
11 And he said to them: “Not everyone is able to grasp this word, but only those to whom it has been given.	11 Egli disse: tutti non pigliano questa parola, ma quelli cui è concesso.
12 For there are chaste persons who were born so from their mother’s womb, and there are chaste persons who have been made so by men, and there are chaste persons who have made themselves chaste for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Whoever is able to grasp this, let him grasp it.”	12 Imperò che ci sono li eunuchi, li quali sono nasciuti eunuchi dal ventre della madre; e eunuchi, fatti dalli uomini; e sono eunuchi, che per amore del regno del cielo hanno castrato sè stessi. Chi può prendere, prenda.
13 Then they brought to him little children, so that he would place his hands upon them and pray. But the disciples rebuked them.	13 Allora li furono appresentati li fanciulli, acciò sopra loro ponesse le mani, e orasse; ma li discepoli riprendevano quelli.
14 Yet truly, Jesus said to them: “Allow the little children to come to me, and do not choose to prohibit them. For the kingdom of heaven is among such as these.”	14 Onde Iesù li disse: lasciate venire li piccolini, e non vogliate vietare che loro a me vengano; imperò che di tali è il regno del cielo.
15 And when he had imposed his hands upon them, he went away from there.	15 E avendo poste le mani sopra loro, partissi quindi.
16 And behold, someone approached and said to him, “Good Teacher, what good should I do, so that I may have eternal life?”	16 Ed ecco uno venne a lui, e dissegli: Maestro buono, che bene farò io, perchè abbia vita eterna?
17 And he said to him: “Why do you question me about what is good? One is good: God. But if you wish to enter into life, observe the commandments.”	17 Al qual disse: il perchè mi appelli buono? Dio solo è buono; ma se vogli entrare alla vita, osserva li comandamenti.
18 He said to him, “Which?” And Jesus said: “You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not give false testimony.	18 Ed egli disse: quali? Dissegli Iesù; non farai omicidio, non adulterio, non furto; non dirai falsa testimonianza.
19 Honor your father and your mother. And, you shall love your neighbor as yourself.”	19 Onora il tuo padre e la tua madre; amerai il tuo prossimo come te stesso.
20 The young man said to him: “All these I have kept from my childhood. What is still lacking for me?”	20 Al quale disse il giovine: tutte queste cose ho osservate, che ancora mi resta?
21 Jesus said to him: “If you are willing to be perfect, go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and then you will have treasure in heaven. And come, follow me.”	21 E dissegli Iesù: se vuoli essere perfetto, vattene, e vendi quel che hai, e dàllo alli poveri, e avrai il tesauro nel cielo; e vieni, sèguita me.
22 And when the young man had heard this word, he went away sad, for he had many possessions.	22 Ma il giovine, avendo udito questo parlare, si partì attristato; imperò ch' egli aveva molte possessioni.
23 Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Amen, I say to you, that the wealthy shall enter with difficulty into the kingdom of heaven.	23 Ma Iesù disse a' suoi discepoli: in verità vi dico, (imperò) che il ricco con difficoltà entrarà nel regno de' cieli.
24 And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for the wealthy to enter into the kingdom of heaven.”	24 E ancora vi dico: più facile cosa è che il cammello passi per il forame dell' ago, che il ricco entri nel regno delli cieli.
25 And upon hearing this, the disciples wondered greatly, saying: “Then who will be able to be saved?”	25 Ma li discepoli, udite queste cose, molto si maravigliavano, dicendo: chi adunque potrà esser salvo?
26 But Jesus, gazing at them, said to them: “With men, this is impossible. But with God, all things are possible.”	26 E risguardando Iesù, disse a loro: questo è impossibile appo gli uomini; ma tutte cose sono possibili appresso Iddio.
27 Then Peter responded by saying to him: “Behold, we have left behind all things, and we have followed you. So then, what will be for us?”	27 Allora rispondendo Pietro, disse: ecco che noi abbiamo abbandonato ogni cosa, e avemoti seguitato; che adunque a noi sarà?
28 And Jesus said to them: “Amen I say to you, that at the resurrection, when the Son of man shall sit on the seat of his majesty, those of you who have followed me shall also sit on twelve seats, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.	28 Ma Iesù disse a loro: in verità io vi dico che voi, che mi sete seguitati, quando nella regenerazione sederà il Figliuolo dell' uomo nella sedia della sua maestà, sederete etiam voi sopra dodici sedie, giudicanti le dodici tribù d' Israel.
29 And anyone who has left behind home, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or land, for the sake of my name, shall receive one hundred times more, and shall possess eternal life.	29 E ogni uomo che abbandonerà la casa, ovvero li fratelli ovvero le sorelle, ovvero il padre. e la madre, ovvero li campi per lo nome mio, riceverà cento per uno, e vita eterna possederà.
30 But many of those who are first shall be last, and the last shall be first.”	30 Ma molti primi saranno ultimi, e molti ultimi primi.
