Hosea 14

1 Let Samaria perish, because she has urged her God towards bitterness. Let them perish by the sword, let their little ones be thrown down, and let their pregnant women be cut in two.	1 Samaria sconterà la sua pena, perché si è ribellata al suo Dio. Periranno di spada, saranno sfracellati i bambini; le donne incinte sventrate.
2 Israel, convert to the Lord your God. For you have been ruined by your own iniquity.	2 Torna dunque, Israele, al Signore, tuo Dio, poiché hai inciampato nella tua iniquità.
3 Take these words with you and return to the Lord. And say to him, “Remove all iniquity and accept the good. And we will repay the calves of our lips.	3 Preparate le parole da dire e tornate al Signore; ditegli: «Togli ogni iniquità, accetta ciò che è bene: non offerta di tori immolati, ma la lode delle nostre labbra.
4 Assur will not save us; we will not ride on horses. Neither will we say any more, ‘The works of our hands are our gods,’ for those that are in you will have mercy on the orphan.”	4 Assur non ci salverà, non cavalcheremo più su cavalli, né chiameremo più “dio nostro” l’opera delle nostre mani, perché presso di te l’orfano trova misericordia».
5 I will heal their contrition; I will love them spontaneously. For my wrath has been turned away from them.	5 «Io li guarirò dalla loro infedeltà, li amerò profondamente, poiché la mia ira si è allontanata da loro.
6 I will be like the dew; Israel will spring forth like the lily, and his root will spread out like that of the cedars of Lebanon.	6 Sarò come rugiada per Israele; fiorirà come un giglio e metterà radici come un albero del Libano,
7 His branches will advance, and his glory will be like the olive tree, and his fragrance will be like that of the cedars of Lebanon.	7 si spanderanno i suoi germogli e avrà la bellezza dell’olivo e la fragranza del Libano.
8 They will be converted, sitting in his shadow. They will live on wheat, and they will grow like a vine. His memorial will be like the wine of the cedars of Lebanon.	8 Ritorneranno a sedersi alla mia ombra, faranno rivivere il grano, fioriranno come le vigne, saranno famosi come il vino del Libano.
9 Ephraim will say, “What are idols to me any more?” I will listen to him, and I will set him straight like a healthy spruce tree. Your fruit has been found by me.	9 Che ho ancora in comune con gli idoli, o Èfraim? Io l’esaudisco e veglio su di lui; io sono come un cipresso sempre verde, il tuo frutto è opera mia».
10 Who is wise and will understand this? Who has understanding and will know these things? For the ways of the Lord are straight, and the just will walk in them, but truly, the traitors will fall in them.	10 Chi è saggio comprenda queste cose, chi ha intelligenza le comprenda; poiché rette sono le vie del Signore, i giusti camminano in esse, mentre i malvagi v’inciampano.
