In the twenty-fifth year of our transmigration, at the beginning of the year, on the tenth of the month, in the fourteenth year after the city was struck, on this very day, the hand of the Lord was placed upon me, and he brought me to that place.1 El año veinticinco de nuestra cautividad, al comienzo del año, el día diez del mes, catorce años después de la caída de la ciudad, el mismo día, la mano de Yahveh fue sobre mí, y me llevó allá.
In the visions of God, he brought me into the land of Israel, and he released me on an exceedingly high mountain, on which there was something like the edifice of a city, verging toward the south.2 En visiones divinas, me llevó a la tierra de Israel, y me posó sobre un monte muy alto, en cuya cima parecía que estaba edificada una ciudad, al mediodía.
And he led me into that place. And behold, there was a man, whose appearance was like the appearance of brass, with a linen rope in his hand, and a measuring reed in his hand. And he was standing at the gate.3 Me llevó allá, y he aquí que había allí un hombre de aspecto semejante al del bronce.
And the same man said to me: “Son of man, look with your eyes, and listen with your ears, and set your heart upon all that I will reveal to you. For you have been brought to this place, so that these things may be revealed to you. Announce all that you see to the house of Israel.”4 El hombre me dijo: «Hijo de hombre, mira bien, escucha atentamente y presta atención a todo lo que te voy a mostrar, porque has sido traído aquí para que yo te lo muestre. Comunica a la casa de Israel todo lo que vas a ver».
And behold, there was a wall outside of the house, encircling it all around, and in the man’s hand was a measuring reed of six cubits and a palm. And he measured the width of the edifice with one reed; likewise, the height with one reed.5 Y he aquí que por el exterior de la Casa había un muro, todo alrededor.
And he went to the gate which looked toward the east, and he ascended by its steps. And he measured the width of the threshold of the gate as one reed, that is, one threshold was one reed in width.6 Vino luego al pórtico que miraba a oriente, subió sus gradas y midió el umbral del pórtico: una vara de profundidad.
And a chamber was one reed in length and one reed in width. And between the chambers, there were five cubits.7 La lonja: una vara de largo por una vara de ancho; la pilastra entre las lonjas: cinco codos; el umbral del pórtico por el lado del vestíbulo del pórtico, hacia el interior: una vara.
And the threshold of the gate, next to the inner vestibule of the gate, was one reed.8 Midió el vestíbulo del pórtico: ocho codos;
And he measured the vestibule of the gate as eight cubits, and its front as two cubits. But the vestibule of the gate was inside.9 su pilastra: dos codos; el vestíbulo del pórtico estaba situado hacia el interior.
Moreover, the chambers of the gate, toward the way of the east, were three from one side to the other. The three were of one measure, and the fronts were of one measure, on both sides.10 Las lonjas del pórtico oriental eran tres por cada lado, todas ellas de la misma dimensión; las pilastras tenían también las mismas dimensiones por cada lado.
And he measured the width of the threshold of the gate as ten cubits, and the length of the gate as thirteen cubits.11 Midió la anchura del vano del pórtico: diez codos, y la longitud del pórtico: trece codos.
And before the chambers, the border was one cubit. And on both sides, the border was one cubit. But the chambers were six cubits, from one side to the other.12 Había un parapeto delante de las lonjas; cada parapeto tenía un codo por ambos lados.
And he measured the gate, from the roof of one chamber to the roof of another, twenty-five cubits in width, from door to door.13 Midió el pórtico desde el fondo de una lonja hasta el fondo de la otra; anchura: veinticinco codos de una entrada a la otra.
And he found the fronts to be sixty cubits. And at the front, there was a court for the gate on every side all around.14 Midió el vestíbulo: veinte codos; el atrio giraba todo alrededor del pórtico.
And before the face of the gate, which extended even to the face of the vestibule of the gate of the interior, there were fifty cubits.15 Desde la fachada del pórtico donde estaba la entrada, hasta el fondo del vestíbulo interior del pórtico, había cincuenta codos.
And there were slanting windows in the chambers and at their fronts, which were within the gate on every side all around. And similarly, there were also windows in the vestibules all around the interior, and there were images of palm trees before the fronts.16 Había ventanas enrejadas sobre las lonjas y sobre sus pilastras, hacia el interior del pórtico, todo alrededor, e igualmente el vestíbulo tenía, por el interior, ventanas todo alrededor; y sobre las pilastras había palmeras.
And he led me away to the outer court, and behold, there were storerooms and a layer of pavement stones throughout the court. Thirty storerooms encircled the pavement.17 Me llevó al atrio exterior, y he aquí que allí había salas y un enlosado tirado alrededor del atrio: treinta salas daban a este enlosado.
And the pavement in front of the gates, along the length of the gates, was lower.18 El enlosado que flanqueaba los pórticos correspondía a la profundidad de los mismos: esto es el enlosado inferior.
And he measured the width, from the face of the lower gate to the front of the outer part of the inner court, to be one hundred cubits, to the east and to the north.19 Midió la anchura del atrio, desde la fachada del pórtico inferior hasta la fachada del atrio interior, por fuera: cien codos (a oriente y al norte).
Likewise, he measured the gate of the outer court, which looked to the way of the north, to be as much in length as in width.20 Midió después la longitud y la anchura del pórtico que daba al norte del atrio exterior.
And its chambers were three from one side to the other. And its front and its vestibule, in accord with the measure of the former gate, were fifty cubits in its length and twenty-five cubits in width.21 Sus lonjas eran tres por cada lado; sus pilastras y vestíbulos tenían las mismas dinensiones que los del primer pórtico: cincuenta codos de largo y veinticinco de ancho.
Now its windows, and the vestibule, and the engravings were in accord with the measure of the gate which looked to the east. And its ascent was by seven steps, and a vestibule was before it.22 Sus ventanas, su vestíbulo y sus palmeras tenían las mismas dimensiones que las del pórtico que daba a oriente.
And the gate of the inner court was opposite the gate of the north, and that of the east.
And he led me to the way of the south, and behold, there was a gate which looked toward the south. And he measured its front and its vestibule to be the same as the measures above.24 Me condujo luego hacia el lado del mediodía: había allí un pórtico en dirección del mediodía; midió sus lonjas, sus pilastras y su vestíbulo: tenían las mismas dimensiones.
And its windows and the vestibule all around were like the other windows: fifty cubits in length and twenty-five cubits in width.25 Tenía, lo mismo que su vestíbulo, ventanas todo alrededor, iguales que las otras ventanas; dimensiones: cincuenta codos de largo y veinticinco de ancho;
And there were seven steps to ascend to it, and a vestibule before its doors. And there were engraved palm trees, one on each side, at its front.26 su escalera tenía siete gradas; su vestíbulo estaba situado hacia el interior, y tenía palmeras, una a cada lado, sobre sus pilastras.
And there was a gate at the inner court, on the way to the south. And he measured from one gate to another, on the way to the south, to be one hundred cubits.27 El atrio interior tenía también un pórtico hacia el mediodía; midió la distancia de un pórtico a otro, en dirección del mediodía: cien codos.
And he led me into the inner court, to the south gate. And he measured the gate to be in accord with the measures above.28 Luego me llevó al atrio, por el pórtico meridional; midió el pórtico meridional: tenía las mismas dimensiones.
Its chamber, and its front, and its vestibule had the same measures. And its windows and its vestibule all around were fifty cubits in length, and twenty-five cubits in width.29 Sus lonjas, pilastras y vestíbulo tenían estas mismas dimensiones.
And the vestibule all around was twenty-five cubits in length, and five cubits in width.30 Y el perímetro del vestíbulo: veinticinco codos de largo y cinco de ancho.
And its vestibule was toward the outer court, and its palm trees were at the front. And there were eight steps to ascend to it.31 Su vestíbulo daba al atrio exterior.
And he led me into the inner court, along the way of the east. And he measured the gate to be in accord with the measures above.32 Me llevó al pórtico interior, hacia oriente, y midió el pórtico:
Its chamber, and its front, and its vestibule were as above. And its windows and its vestibules all around were fifty cubits in length, and twenty-five cubits in width.33 tenía las mismas dimensiones.
And it had a vestibule, that is, at the outer court. And the engraved palm trees at its front were on one side and the other. And its ascent was by eight steps.34 Su vestíbulo daba al atrio exterior.
And he led me to the gate which looked toward the north. And he measured it to be in accord with the measures above.35 Me llevó luego al pórtico septentrional y lo midió: tenía las mismas dimensiones:
Its chamber, and its front, and its vestibule, and its windows all around were fifty cubits in length, and twenty-five cubits in width.36 tenía alrededor, sus lonjas, sus pilastras, su vestíbulo y sus ventanas. Dimensiones: cincuenta codos de largo y veinticinco de ancho.
And its vestibule looked toward the outer court. And an engraving of palm trees at its front was on one side and the other. And its ascent was by eight steps.37 Su vestíbulo daba al atrio exterior.
And at each one of the storerooms, there was a door at the front of the gates. There, they washed the holocaust.38 Había una sala cuya entrada estaba en el vestíbulo del pórtico. Allí se lavaba el holocausto.
And at the vestibule of the gate, there were two tables on one side, and two tables on the other side, so that the holocaust, and the offering for sin, and the offering for transgression could be immolated upon them.39 Y en el vestíbulo del pórtico había, a cada lado, dos mesas para inmolar sobre ellas el holocausto, el sacrificio por el pecado y el sacrificio de expiación.
And at the outer side, which ascends to the door of the gate that goes toward the north, there were two tables. And at the other side, before the vestibule of the gate, there were two tables.40 Por el lado exterior de quien sube hacia la entrada del pórtico, al norte, había dos mesas, y al otro lado, hacia el vestíbulo del pórtico, dos mesas.
Four tables were on one side, and four tables were on the other side; along the sides of the gate, there were eight tables, upon which they immolated.41 Cuatro mesas a un lado y cuatro mesas al otro lado del pórtico, o sea ocho mesas sobre las que se hacía la inmolación.
Now the four tables for the holocausts were constructed of square stones: one and a half cubit in length, and one and a half cubits in width, and one cubit in height. Upon these, they placed the vessels, in which the holocaust and the victim were immolated.42 Además cuatro mesas para el holocausto, de piedra de sillería, de codo y medio de largo, codo y medio de ancho y un codo de alto, sobre las cuales se colocaban los instrumentos con los que se inmolaba el holocausto y el sacrificio.
And their edges were one palm in width, turned inward all around. And the flesh of the oblation was on the tables.43 Las ranuras, de un palmo de anchura, estaban dispuestas en el interior, todo en torno.
And outside the interior gate, there were storerooms for the cantors, in the inner court, which was beside the gate that looks toward the north. And their face was opposite the way to the south; one was beside the east gate, which looked toward the way of the north.44 Me llevó al atrio interior; había allí, en el atrio interior, dos salas, una al lado del pórtico septentrional, con su fachada al mediodía, y la otra al lado del pórtico meridional, con su fachada al norte.
And he said to me: “This is the storeroom that looks toward the south; it shall be for the priests who keep watch for the protection of the temple.45 Me dijo: «Esta sala que mira al mediodía está destinada a los sacerdotes que cumplen el ministerio de la Casa.
Moreover, the storeroom that looks toward the north will be for the priests who keep watch over the ministry of the altar. These are the sons of Zadok, those among the sons of Levi who may draw near to the Lord, so that they may minister to him.”46 Y la sala que mira al norte está destinada a los sacerdotes que cumplen el ministerio del altar.
And he measured the court to be one hundred cubits in length, and one hundred cubits in width, with four equal sides. And the altar was before the face of the temple.47 Midió el atrio.
And he led me into the vestibule of the temple. And he measured the vestibule to be five cubits on one side, and five cubits on the other side. And the width of the gate was three cubits on one side, and three cubits on the other side.48 Me llevó al Vestíbulo de la Casa y midió las pilastras del Vestíbulo: cinco codos por cada lado; luego la anchura del pórtico: catorce codos; y las paredes laterales del pórtico: tres codos por cada lado.
Now the length of the vestibule was twenty cubits, and the width was eleven cubits, and there were eight steps to ascend to it. And there were pillars at the front, one on this side and another on that side.49 La longitud del Vestíbulo era de veinte codos y su anchura de doce codos.
