Isaiah 31

CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Woe to those who descend into Egypt for assistance, hoping in horses, and putting their trust in four-horse chariots because they are many, and in horsemen because they are exceedingly strong. And they have not believed in the Holy One of Israel, and they have not sought the Lord.	1 ¡Ay de los que bajan a Egipto para pedir ayuda, y buscan apoyo en los caballos! Ellos confían en los carros, porque son numerosos, y en los jinetes, porque son muy fuertes, pero no miran el Santo de Israel ni consultan al Señor.
2 Therefore, being wise, he has permitted harm, and he has not removed his words, and he will rise up against the house of the wicked and against those who assist the workers of iniquity.	2 Sin embargo, él también es sabio: hace venir la desgracia y no revoca su palabra, se levanta contra la casa de los malvados y contra la ayuda de los malhechores.
3 Egypt is man, and not God. And their horses are flesh, and not spirit. And so, the Lord will reach down his hand, and the helper will fall, and the one who was being helped will fall, and they will all be consumed together.	3 Los egipcios son hombres y no dioses, sus caballos son carne y no espíritu. Cuando el Señor extienda su mano, tropezará el que ayuda, y caerá el que es ayudado, y todos juntos desaparecerán.
4 For the Lord says this to me: In the same way that a lion roars, and a young lion is over his prey, and though a multitude of shepherds may meet him, he will not dread their voice, nor be afraid of their number, so will the Lord of hosts descend in order to battle upon mount Zion and upon its hill.	4 Porque así me ha hablado el Señor: Como gruñe el león o el cachorro de león sobre su presa, cuando se llama contra él a todos los pastores, sin dejarse intimidar por sus gritos ni amedrentarse por el tumulto, así el Señor de los ejércitos bajará a combatir sobre la montaña de Sión y su colina.
5 Like birds flying, so will the Lord of hosts protect Jerusalem, protecting and freeing, passing over and saving.	5 Como pájaros que revolotean, así el Señor de los ejércitos protegerá a Jerusalén: él protegerá, salvará, perdonará, librará.
6 Be converted to the same depth that you have drawn away, O sons of Israel.	6 ¡Vuelvan, israelitas, a aquel de quien se han apartado tanto!
7 For in that day, a man will cast away his idols of silver and his idols of gold, which your hands have made for you unto sin.	7 Sí, en aquel día, cada uno rechazará sus ídolos de plata y sus ídolos de oro esos que ustedes se han fabricado con sus manos pecadoras.
8 And Assur will fall by a sword not of man, and a sword not of man will devour him. And he will not flee from the face of the sword, and his young men will be subject to a penalty.	8 Asiria caerá bajo una espada que no es de un hombre, una espada no humana la devorará: ella huirá delante de la espada y sus jóvenes irán a trabajos forzados.
9 And his strength will pass away in terror, and his princes will flee in fear. The Lord has said it. His fire is in Zion, and his furnace is at Jerusalem.	9 Su roca huirá aterrorizada, y sus jefes, espantados. abandonarán el estandarte. –oráculo del Señor, que tiene su fuego en Sión y su horno en Jerusalén–.
