Wisdom 7

1 Certainly, I myself am also a mortal man, like everyone, and the offspring of this earth, which was made beforehand; and in my mother’s womb I was fashioned with care,	1 Je suis, moi aussi, un homme mortel, pareil à tous, un descendant du premier être formé de la terre.J'ai été modelé en chair dans le ventre d'une mère,
2 within the time of ten months, made of blood, from the seed of man and the delight of sleeping together.	2 où, pendant dix mois, dans le sang j'ai pris consistance, à partir d'une semence d'homme et duplaisir, compagnon du sommeil.
3 And when I was born, I drew in the common air, and in similar fashion, I fell upon the earth, and the first voice I uttered, like everyone, was crying.	3 A ma naissance, moi aussi j'ai aspiré l'air commun, je suis tombé sur la terre qui nous reçoit touspareillement, et des pleurs, comme pour tous, furent mon premier cri.
4 I was nursed in swaddling clothes and with great care.	4 J'ai été élevé dans les langes et parmi les soucis.
5 For none of the kings had any other beginning of birth.	5 Aucun roi ne connut d'autre début d'existence:
6 Therefore, there is only one entrance for everyone into life, and the same in leaving.	6 même façon pour tous d'entrer dans la vie et pareille façon d'en sortir.
7 Because of this, I chose, and understanding was given to me; and I prayed, and the spirit of wisdom came to me;	7 C'est pourquoi j'ai prié, et l'intelligence m'a été donnée, j'ai invoqué, et l'esprit de Sagesse m'estvenu.
8 and I placed her before kingdoms and thrones, and I considered riches nothing in comparison with her.	8 Je l'ai préférée aux sceptres et aux trônes et j'ai tenu pour rien la richesse en comparaison d'elle.
9 Neither did I compare to her a precious stone, for all gold in comparison with her is like a little sand, and silver, in view of her, will be valued as if dirt.	9 Je ne lui ai pas égalé la pierre la plus précieuse; car tout l'or, au regard d'elle, n'est qu'un peu desable, à côté d'elle, l'argent compte pour de la boue.
10 I loved her above health and beauty, and I placed having her before light, for her light is unfailing.	10 Plus que santé et beauté je l'ai aimée et j'ai préféré l'avoir plutôt que la lumière, car son éclat neconnaît point de repos.
11 Yet all good things came to me together with her, and innumerable honors by her hand;	11 Mais avec elle me sont venus tous les biens et, par ses mains, une incalculable richesse.
12 and I rejoiced in all these, because this wisdom went before me, although I did not know that she is the mother of them all.	12 De tous ces biens je me suis réjoui, parce que c'est la Sagesse qui les amène; j'ignorais pourtantqu'elle en fût la mère.
13 This I have learned without falsehood and communicate without envy, and her integrity I do not hide.	13 Ce que j'ai appris sans faute, je le communiquerai sans envie, je ne cacherai pas sa richesse.
14 Indeed, she is an infinite treasure chest for men, and those who make use of it, become partakers in the friendship of God, because they are recommended by the gifts of instruction.	14 Car elle est pour les hommes un trésor inépuisable, ceux qui l'acquièrent s'attirent l'amitié de Dieu,recommandés par les dons qui viennent de l'instruction.
15 Yet God has given to me to speak my mind, and to conceive thoughts worthy of those things that are given to me, because he is the leader of wisdom and the repairer of understanding.	15 Que Dieu me donne d'en parler à son gré et de concevoir des pensées dignes des dons reçus, parcequ'il est lui-même et le guide de la Sagesse et le directeur des sages;
16 For in his hand are both we, and our words, and all wisdom, and the works of science, and instruction.	16 nous sommes en effet dans sa main, et nous et nos paroles, et toute intelligence et tout savoirpratique.
17 For he has given me true knowledge of these things which exist: so as to know the orderly arrangement of the world, and the powers of the elements,	17 C'est lui qui m'a donné une connaissance infaillible des êtres, pour connaître la structure du mondeet l'activité des éléments,
18 the beginning and the end and the midpoint of the seasons, the characteristics of changing things, and the divisions of time,	18 le commencement, la fin et le milieu des temps, les alternances des solstices et les changementsdes saisons,
19 the courses of the years, and the orderly arrangement of the stars,	19 les cycles de l'année et les positions des astres,
20 the natures of animals, and the rage of wild beasts, the force of winds, and the reasonings of men, the diversities of plants, and the benefits of roots,	20 la nature des animaux et les instincts des bêtes sauvages, le pouvoir des esprits et les pensées deshommes, les variétés de plantes et les vertus des racines.
21 and all such things as are hidden and unexpected, I have learned; for wisdom, the artisan of all things, taught me.	21 Tout ce qui est caché et visible, je l'ai connu; car c'est l'ouvrière de toutes choses qui m'a instruit,la Sagesse!
22 For in her is the spirit of understanding: holy, singular, manifold, subtle, perceptive, lively, chaste, reliable, gracious, loving, good, astute, who forbids nothing beneficial,	22 En elle est, en effet, un esprit intelligent, saint, unique, multiple, subtil, mobile, pénétrant, sanssouillure, clair, impassible, ami du bien, prompt,
23 humane, kind, steadfast, trustworthy, secure, having all virtue, watching for all things and grasping all things with a pure and most delicate understanding of spirit.	23 irrésistible, bienfaisant, ami des hommes, ferme, sûr, sans souci, qui peut tout, surveille tout,pénètre à travers tous les esprits, les intelligents, les purs, les plus subtils.
24 For wisdom is more active than all active things, yet she reaches everywhere because of her purity.	24 Car plus que tout mouvement la Sagesse est mobile; elle traverse et pénètre tout à cause de sapureté.
25 For she is a breath of the virtue of God and a genuine emanation from the purity of the almighty God, and therefore nothing unclean can invade her.	25 Elle est en effet un effluve de la puissance de Dieu, une émanation toute pure de la gloire du Tout-Puissant; aussi rien de souillé ne s'introduit en elle.
26 Indeed, she is the brightness of eternal light, and the unspotted mirror of the majesty of God, and the image of his goodness.	26 Car elle est un reflet de la lumière éternelle, un miroir sans tache de l'activité de Dieu, une imagede sa bonté.
27 And though she is one, she can do all things; and, unchanging in herself, she renews all things, and throughout the nations she conveys herself to holy souls, establishing them as friends and prophets of God.	27 Bien qu'étant seule, elle peut tout, demeurant en elle-même, elle renouvelle l'univers et, d'âge enâge passant en des âmes saintes, elle en fait des amis de Dieu et des prophètes;
28 For God loves none but those who dwell with wisdom.	28 car Dieu n'aime que celui qui habite avec la Sagesse.
29 For she is more spectacular than the sun, and above the array of all the stars; compared with the light, she is found to be before it.	29 Elle est, en effet, plus belle que le soleil, elle surpasse toutes les constellations, comparée à lalumière, elle l'emporte;
30 Indeed, after her comes night, but wisdom will not be overcome by malice.	30 car celle-ci fait place à la nuit, mais contre la Sagesse le mal ne prévaut pas.
