1 Bride: "On my bed, throughout the night, I sought him whom my soul loves. I sought him, and did not find him."	1 Sul mio letto, lungo la notte, ho cercato l'amato del mio cuore; l'ho cercato, ma non l'ho trovato.
2 "I will rise up, and I will circle through the city. Through the side streets and thoroughfares, I will seek him whom my soul loves. I sought him, and did not find him."	2 "Mi alzerò e farò il giro della città; per le strade e per le piazze; voglio cercare l'amato del mio cuore". L'ho cercato, ma non l'ho trovato.
3 "The watchers who guard the city found me: “Have you seen him whom my soul loves?”"	3 Mi hanno incontrato le guardie che fanno la ronda: "Avete visto l'amato del mio cuore?".
4 "When I had passed by them a little, I found him whom my soul loves. I held him, and would not release him, until I would bring him into my mother’s house, and into the chamber of her who bore me."	4 Da poco le avevo oltrepassate, quando trovai l'amato del mio cuore. Lo strinsi fortemente e non lo lascerò finché non l'abbia condotto in casa di mia madre, nella stanza della mia genitrice.
5 Groom to Chorus: "I bind you by oath, O daughters of Jerusalem, by the does and the stags of the open field, not to disturb or awaken the beloved, until she wills."	5 Io vi scongiuro, figlie di Gerusalemme, per le gazzelle e per le cerve dei campi: non destate, non scuotete dal sonno l'amata finché essa non lo voglia.
6 Chorus to Groom: "Who is she, who ascends through the desert, like a staff of smoke from the aromatics of myrrh, and frankincense, and every powder of the perfumer?"	6 Che cos'è che sale dal deserto come una colonna di fumo, esalando profumo di mirra e d'incenso e d'ogni polvere aromatica?
7 Chorus to Bride: "Lo, sixty strong ones, out of all the strongest in Israel, stand watch at the bed of Solomon,"	7 Ecco, la lettiga di Salomone: sessanta prodi le stanno intorno, tra i più valorosi d'Israele.
8 "all holding swords and well-trained in warfare, each one’s weapon upon his thigh, because of fears in the night."	8 Tutti sanno maneggiare la spada, sono esperti nella guerra; ognuno porta la spada al fianco contro i pericoli della notte.
9 Bride to Chorus: "King Solomon made himself a portable throne from the wood of Lebanon."	9 Un baldacchino s'è fatto il re Salomone, con legno del Libano.
10 "He made its columns of silver, the reclining place of gold, the ascent of purple; the middle he covered well, out of charity for the daughters of Jerusalem."	10 Le sue colonne le ha fatte d'argento, d'oro la sua spalliera; il suo seggio di porpora, il centro è un ricamo d'amore delle fanciulle di Gerusalemme.
11 "O daughters of Zion, go forth and see king Solomon with the diadem with which his mother crowned him, on the day of his espousal, on the day of the rejoicing of his heart."	11 Uscite figlie di Sion, guardate il re Salomone con la corona che gli pose sua madre, nel giorno delle sue nozze, nel giorno della gioia del suo cuore.
