Psalms 131

1 A Canticle in steps. O Lord, remember David and all his meekness,	1 Cantico de' gradi. Arricòrdati, Signore, di David, e di ogni sua mansuetudine:
2 how he swore to the Lord, how he made a vow to the God of Jacob:	2 come ha giurato al Signore, fece voto al Dio di Iacob:
3 I shall not enter into the tabernacle of my house, nor climb into the bed where I lie down;	3 Se entrarò nel tabernaculo della mia casa; se ascenderò nel letto mio ornato;
4 I shall not give sleep to my eyes, nor slumber to my eyelids	4 se darò sonno alli occhi miei, e dormire alle palpebre mie,
5 and rest to my temples, until I find a place for the Lord, a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.	5 e riposo alle tempie mie; insino che trovi il luogo al Signore, il tabernaculo a Dio di Iacob.
6 Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah. We discovered it in the fields of the forest.	6 Ecco che l'avemo udito in Efrata; avemolo trovato nelli campi della selva.
7 We will enter into his tabernacle. We will adore in the place where his feet stood.	7 Entraremo nel tabernaculo suo; adoraremo nel luogo dove stettero li piedi suoi.
8 Rise up, O Lord, into your resting place. You and the ark of your sanctification.	8 Lèvati, Signore, nel riposo tuo, tu e l'arca della santificazione tua.
9 Let your priests be clothed with justice, and let your saints exult.	9 Vestansi li tuoi sacerdoti di giustizia; e rallegrinsi li santi tuoi.
10 For the sake of your servant David, do not turn away the face of your Christ.	10 Per amore di David, servo tuo, non volgere la faccia del cristo tuo.
11 The Lord has sworn the truth to David, and he will not disappoint: I will set upon your throne from the fruit of your lineage.	11 Giurò il Signore a David la verità, e non li verrà a meno: del frutto del ventre tuo sopra la sedia tua ponerò.
12 If your sons will keep my covenant and these, my testimonies, which I will teach to them, then their sons will sit upon your throne even forever.	12 Se li figliuoli tuoi osservaranno il testamento mio, e le mie promissioni, e queste che a loro insegnarò, e' loro figliuoli insino in seculo, sederanno sopra la sedia tua.
13 For the Lord has chosen Zion. He has chosen it as his dwelling place.	13 Però che il Signore ha eletto Sion; ed elesse quella per sua abitazione.
14 This is my resting place, forever and ever. Here I will dwell, for I have chosen it.	14 Questo è il mio riposo in SECULUM SECULI; quivi abitarò, però [che] hommela eletta.
15 When blessing, I will bless her widow. I will satisfy her poor with bread.	15 Benedicendo benedicerò la vedova sua; li suoi poveri di pane saziarò.
16 I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints will rejoice with great joy.	16 Vestirò li suoi sacerdoti di salute; e li suoi santi di letizia si allegraranno.
17 There, I will produce a horn to David. There, I have prepared a lamp for my Christ.	17 Qui produrrò la virtù di David; ho apparecchiato la lucerna al cristo mio.
18 I will clothe his enemies with confusion. But my sanctification will flourish over him.	18 Vestirò li nemici suoi di confusione; ma sopra lui rifiorirà la mia santificazione
