CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAINEL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
But Baldad the Suhite responded by saying:1 Bildad de Súaj respondió, diciendo:
How long will you throw around words? Understand first, and then let us speak.2 ¿Hasta cuándo nos impedirás hablar? Reflexiona, y luego hablaremos.
Why have we been treated like mules, as if we were unworthy before you?3 ¿Por qué seremos tenidos por animales y pasaremos por torpes ante tus ojos?
You, who ruins your own soul in your fury, will the earth be forsaken because of you, and will the cliffs be moved from their place?4 Tú, que te desgarras en tu enojo: ¿acaso la tierra quedará desierta por tu causa o la roca será removida de su sitio?
Will not the light of the impious be put out, and the flame of his fire refuse to shine?5 Sí, la luz del malvado se extingue y la llama de su fuego no brilla más.
Light will become darkness in his tabernacle, and the lamp that is over him will be extinguished.6 La luz se oscurece en su carpa y su lámpara se apaga sobre él.
His strong steps will be constrained, and his own counsel will cast him down uncontrollably.7 Se acortan sus pasos vigorosos, su propio designio lo hace tropezar.
For he has caused his own feet to go into a net, and he has walked into its web.8 Porque sus pies lo meten en una trampa y va caminando entre redes:
His heel will be held in a snare, and thirst will rage against him.9 un lazo le aprisiona el talón y un cepo se cierra sobre él.
A trap has been hidden for him in the earth, and a decoy, along his path.10 Lo espera una cuerda oculta en el suelo y una trampa tendida sobre el camino.
Horrifying things will terrify him everywhere and will entangle his feet.11 Lo asaltan terrores por todas partes y lo amenazan a cada paso.
Let his strength be diminished by famine, and let starvation invade his ribs.12 Su vigor se convierte en hambre y la ruina permanece a su lado;
Let it devour the beauty of his skin; let the ancient death consume his arms.13 la enfermedad corroe su piel, el Primogénito de la Muerte devora sus miembros.
Let his confidence be torn away from his tabernacle, and let ruin trample over him like a king.14 Lo arrancan de la seguridad de su carpa y lo llevan ante el Rey de los terrores.
Let the companions of he who is not, dwell in his tabernacle; let brimstone rain down upon his tabernacle.15 El fuego se instala en su carpa y se esparce azufre sobre su morada.
Let his roots be dried up from beneath him, and his harvest be crushed from above.16 Por debajo se secan sus raíces y por arriba se marchita su ramaje.
Let the memory of him perish from the earth, and let not his name be celebrated in the streets.17 Su recuerdo desaparece de la tierra y se borra su nombre en la región.
He will expel him from light into darkness, and he will remove him from the world.18 Lo arrojan de la luz a las tinieblas y lo arrastran fuera del mundo.
Neither his offspring, nor his descendents, will exist among his people, nor will there be any remnants in his country.19 No tiene estirpe ni posteridad en su pueblo, no quedan sobrevivientes donde él habitaba.
The last will be astonished at his day, and the first will be overcome with horror.20 El Occidente se estremece por su destino y el Oriente es presa del horror.
And so, these are the tabernacles of the sinful, and this the place of he who does not know God.21 Sí, tales son las moradas del injusto, este es el lugar del que no conoce a Dios.
