Esther 15

1 Truly, king Artaxerxes made all the land, and all the islands of the sea, tributaries.	1 Io Ieronimo trovai questo arrecato nella translazione pubblica. E (per questo pericolo che venia sopra il popolo giudaico) andò Mardocheo alla regina, e sì la pregò ch' ella dovesse [entrare al re, e] pregare per lo popolo suo, e per quelli della patria sua.
2 And his strength and his authority, and the dignity and supremacy with which he exalted Mordecai, have been written in the books of the Medes and the Persians,	2 E sì disse: ricorditi delli giorni della tua umiltà, e come io sì ti ho sempre nutricata; tu sai che Aman, il quale è secondo al re, hae ordinata la nostra morte.
3 and how Mordecai of Jewish birth, was second after king Artaxerxes, and great among the Jews, and acceptable to the people of his brethren, seeking the good of his people, and speaking about things which pertained to peace for their descendents.	3 E perciò chiama Dio in tuo aiuto, e va allo re, e digli che debba liberarne di questa crudelissima morte. Ed io Ieronimo trovai questo che sèguita nella pubblica translazione.
4 And Mordecai said, “By God have these things been done.	4 Il terzo dì Ester pigliò la vestimenta regale, e tutto l'ornamento suo.
5 I remember a dream that I saw, which signified these same things, and nothing of this whatsoever has failed to occur.	5 E risplendendo in quello abito regale, e invocando Iddio rettore e salvatore di tutti, chiamò a sè due damigelle.
6 The little fountain which grew into a river, and had turned into light and into the sun, and overflowed into many waters, is Esther, whom the king received as wife and whom he preferred to be queen.	6 E all' una s'appoggiava, quasi dimostrando che per lo suo viver delicato lei non potesse sostenere il corpo suo.
7 But the two dragons are I and Haman.	7 E l'altra la seguitava, sostenendo le vestimenta molte ornate a modo regale.
8 The peoples who gathered together are those who had attempted to erase the name of the Jews.	8 E la faccia sua pareva una rosa; e negli occhii suoi mostrava allegrezza, occultando la grande tristizia che avea nel cuore contrito di molto timore, (e in questo modo andò allo re in vestimenta regali adornata).
9 And my people is Israel, who cried out to the Lord, and the Lord brought salvation to his people, and he freed us from all evils, and he created great signs and portents among the nations.	9 E passata che fue tutte le porte, stette dinanzi al re, dove lui sedea sopra la sedia sua, vestito con le sue vestimenta regali; e risplendea tutto per l'oro e le pietre preziose, e l'aspetto suo era (molto) terribile.
10 And he commanded there to be two lots, one for the people of God and the other for all the nations.	10 E alzando la faccia, e guardando cogli occhii la regina, come fosse istato quasi a modo d' uno drago, (e vedendo) la regina (uno così terribile viso e uno così terribile aspetto, ebbe grandissima paura e timore, e) mutò la faccia sua, come fosse cenere, e cadde tramortita sopra una delle damigelle.
11 And both lots arrived at the day appointed before God, even from that past time, for all peoples.	11 E subitamente Iddio rivolse il cuore dello re in sì grande benignità, ch' esso discese della sedia sua, e prese la regina nelle sue braccia persino che ritornasse in sè; e facevale vezzi, e diceva queste parole:
12 And the Lord remembered his people and had mercy on his inheritance.	12 che hai tu Ester? Io sono tuo fratello, non avere paura alcuna.
13 And these days shall be observed in the month of Adar, on the fourteenth and fifteenth day of the same month, with all zealousness and joy, by the people gathered together into one union, throughout all the generations hereafter of the people of Israel.”	13 (Però che il comandamento, il quale è stato fatto, non si intende per te, nè) non morirai tu; però che questo comandamento si tocca all' altra gente, e non a te.
14 In the fourth year of the reigns of Ptolemy and Cleopatra, Dositheus, who was himself a priest and born of the Levites, and Ptolemy his son, brought this epistle of Purim, which they said was a translation by Lysimachus the son of Ptolemy in Jerusalem.	14 E però togli e piglia la verga dell' oro.
	15 Ed Ester incontanente la piglioe; e lo re sì gli puose il braccio al collo, e basciolla, e disse: perchè non mi parli tu?
	16 E la regina (ritornata in sè) rispose e disse: io ti viddi nello aspetto tuo, sì come tu fossi stato uno angelo del paradiso, e io vedendo tanta gloria, spaventai ed ebbi paura.
	17 E nella faccia se' molto maraviglioso, e tutto pieno di grazie.
	18 E parlando queste parole, sùbito cadde in terra, e con grande pena l'aiutarono.
	19 Lo re si turboe (in sè medesimo), e l'altre genti tutte la confortavano (molto prosperosamente, e con sollecitudine di pace e tranquillità).
