2 Kings 17

1 In the twelfth year of Ahaz, the king of Judah: Hoshea, the son of Elah, reigned over Israel, in Samaria, for nine years.	1 L'anno dodicesimo di Acaz re di Giuda, Osea, figlio di Ela, divenne re d'Israele in Samaria, dove regnò per nove anni.
2 And he did evil before the Lord, but not like the kings of Israel who had been before him.	2 Egli fece ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore, non però come i re d'Israele che furono prima di lui.
3 Shalmaneser, the king of the Assyrians, ascended against him. And Hoshea became a servant to him, and he paid him tribute.	3 Salmanassar, re di Assiria, salì contro Osea che si sottomise e gli pagò un tributo.
4 And when the king of the Assyrians discovered that Hoshea, striving to rebel, had sent messengers to Sais, to the king of Egypt, so as not to present the tribute to the king of the Assyrians, as he had been accustomed to do each year, he besieged him. And having been bound, he cast him into prison.	4 Il re di Assiria però scoprì che Osea lo tradiva: aveva infatti inviato dei messaggeri a So, re di Egitto, e non aveva più consegnato il tributo al re di Assiria come era solito fare ogni anno. 5 And he wandered through the entire land. And ascending to Samaria, he besieged it for three years.	5 Il re d'Assiria invase tutto il paese e giunse a Samaria, cui pose l'assedio per tre anni.
6 And in the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of the Assyrians captured Samaria, and he carried away Israel to Assyria. And he stationed them in Halah and in Habor, beside the river of Gozan, in the cities of the Medes.	6 L'anno nono di Osea, il re d'Assiria espugnò Samaria, deportò gli Israeliti in Assiria e li stabilì a Calach, sul Cabor, fiume di Gozan, e nelle città della Media.
7 For it happened that, when the sons of Israel had sinned against the Lord, their God, who had led them away from the land of Egypt, from the hand of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, they worshipped strange gods.	7 Questo accadde perché i figli d'Israele avevano peccato contro il Signore, loro Dio, che li aveva fatti uscire dal paese d'Egitto, sottraendoli alla mano del faraone, re di Egitto. Essi infatti avevano adorato gli dèi stranieri,
8 And they walked according to the rituals of the nations that the Lord had consumed in the sight of the sons of Israel, and of the kings of Israel. For they had acted similarly.	8 avevano seguito le usanze delle genti che il Signore aveva cacciato di fronte ai figli d'Israele e le usanze che i re d'Israele avevano introdotto.
9 And the sons of Israel offended the Lord, their God, with deeds that were not upright. And they built for themselves high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fortified city.	9 I figli d'Israele macchinarono contro il Signore loro Dio cose che non erano rette; si costruirono alture in ogni loro città, dalla torre di guardia fino alla città fortificata;
10 And they made for themselves statues and sacred groves, on every high hill and under every leafy tree.	10 si eressero stele e pali sacri su ogni collina elevata e sotto ogni albero frondoso.
11 And they were burning incense there, upon altars, in the manner of the nations that the Lord had removed from their face. And they did wicked deeds, provoking the Lord.	11 Là, su ogni altura, alla maniera delle genti che il Signore aveva cacciato di fronte ad essi, offrirono sacrifici e fecero cose malvagie, da irritare il Signore.
12 And they worshipped impurities, concerning which the Lord instructed them that they should not do this word.	12 Essi adorarono gli idoli, sebbene il Signore avesse detto loro: "Non fate una simile cosa!".
13 And the Lord testified to them, in Israel and in Judah, through the hand of all the prophets and seers, saying: “Return from your wicked ways, and keep my precepts and ceremonies, in accord with the entire law, which I instructed to your fathers, and just as I sent to you by the hand of my servants, the prophets.”	13 Eppure il Signore, attraverso tutti i profeti e tutti i veggenti, aveva ingiunto a Israele e a Giuda: "Convertitevi dalla vostra malvagia condotta, osservate i miei comandamenti e i miei statuti, secondo tutta la legge che ho prescritto ai vostri padri e che vi ho comunicato mediante i profeti miei servi".
14 But they did not listen. Instead, they hardened their necks to be like the neck of their fathers, who were not willing to obey the Lord, their God.	14 Essi però non prestarono ascolto e indurirono la loro cervice come l'avevano indurita i loro padri che non erano stati fedeli al Signore loro Dio.
15 And they cast aside his ordinances, and the covenant that he formed with their fathers, and the testimonies which he testified to them. And they pursued vanities and acted vainly. And they followed the nations that were all around them, concerning the things which the Lord had commanded them not to do, and which they did.	15 Disprezzarono i suoi statuti, l'alleanza ch'egli aveva concluso con i loro padri e gli ordini che egli aveva loro dato; andarono dietro alla vacuità degli idoli e divennero essi stessi vacui, imitando le genti che li circondavano, mentre il Signore aveva loro comandato di non agire come quelle.
16 And they abandoned all the precepts of the Lord, their God. And they made for themselves two molten calves and sacred groves. And they adored the entire celestial army. And they served Baal.	16 Rigettarono tutti i precetti del Signore, loro Dio, e si fecero idoli fusi, i due torelli; si fecero pure pali sacri e si prostrarono a tutto l'esercito del cielo e venerarono Baal.
17 And they consecrated their sons and their daughters through fire. And they devoted themselves to divinations and soothsaying. And they delivered themselves into the doing of evil before the Lord, so that they provoked him.	17 Inoltre bruciarono i loro figli e le loro figlie, praticarono la divinazione e gli incantesimi e si prestarono a compiere ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore, così da provocarne lo sdegno.
18 And the Lord became vehemently angry with Israel, and he took them away from his sight. And there remained no one, except the tribe of Judah alone.	18 Il Signore si irritò grandemente contro Israele e lo cacciò dal suo cospetto; non rimase che la sola tribù di Giuda.
19 But even Judah did not keep the commandments of the Lord, their God. Instead, they walked in the errors of Israel, which they had wrought.	19 Ma neppure Giuda osservò i precetti del Signore, suo Dio, e imitò le usanze che Israele aveva praticato.
20 And the Lord cast aside all of the offspring of Israel. And he afflicted them, and he delivered them into the hand of despoilers, until he drove them away from his face,	20 Perciò il Signore rigettò tutta la stirpe d'Israele, li afflisse e li diede in mano dei saccheggiatori, fino a che non li cacciò dal suo cospetto.
21 even from that time when Israel was torn away from the house of David, and they appointed for themselves Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, as king. For Jeroboam separated Israel from the Lord, and he caused them to sin a great sin.	21 Egli infatti separò Israele dalla casa di Davide, ed essi proclamarono re Geroboamo, figlio di Nebàt; Geroboamo allontanò Israele dal Signore e lo indusse a commettere un grave peccato.
22 And the sons of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam, which he had done. And they did not withdraw from these,	22 I figli d'Israele imitarono tutti i peccati che Geroboamo aveva commesso e non si staccarono da essi,
23 even when the Lord carried away Israel from his face, just as he had said by the hand of all his servants, the prophets. And Israel was carried away from their land into Assyria, even to this day.	23 fino a che il Signore non cacciò Israele dal suo cospetto, come aveva predetto per mezzo di tutti i profeti suoi servi, e deportò Israele dalla sua terra in Assiria dove si trova fino ad oggi.
24 Then the king of the Assyrians brought some from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Avva, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim. And he located them in the cities of Samaria, in place of the sons of Israel. And they possessed Samaria, and they lived in its cities.	24 Il re di Assiria fece venire popolazioni da Babilonia, da Cuta, da Avva, da Camat e da Sefarvàim e le stabilì nelle città della Samaria al posto dei figli d'Israele. Quelli presero possesso della Samaria e abitarono nelle sue città.
25 And when they had begun to live there, they did not fear the Lord. And the Lord sent lions among them, which were killing them.	25 All'inizio del loro stanziamento là, esse non veneravano il Signore; perciò il Signore mandò contro di loro dei leoni che ne fecero un massacro.
26 And this was reported to the king of the Assyrians, and it was said: “The peoples that you transferred and caused to live in the cities of Samaria, they are ignorant of the ordinances of the God of the land. And so the Lord has sent lions among them. And behold, they have killed them, because they were ignorant of the rituals of the God of the land.”	26 Allora dissero al re di Assiria: "Le popolazioni che tu hai deportato e hai stabilito nelle città della Samaria non conoscono il rito del dio del paese. Questi ha mandato contro di essi dei leoni che li fanno morire, perché essi non conoscono il rito del dio del paese".
27 Then the king of the Assyrians commanded, saying: “Lead to that place one of the priests, whom you brought as a captive from there. And let him go and live with them. And let him teach them the ordinances of the God of the land.”	27 Il re di Assiria diede quest'ordine: "Fatevi ritornare uno dei sacerdoti che avete deportato di là; egli vada, vi abiti e insegni loro i riti del dio del paese".
28 And so, when one of the priests, who had been led away captive from Samaria, had arrived, he lived in Bethel. And he taught them how they should worship the Lord.	28 Uno dei sacerdoti che erano stati deportati da Samaria venne a stabilirsi a Betel e insegnò loro come dovevano venerare il Signore.
29 And each of the nations made gods of their own, and they placed them in the shrines of the high places, which the Samaritans had made: nation after nation, in their cities in which they were living.	29 Ogni popolazione però si fece il proprio dio e lo collocò nei templi delle alture che i Samaritani s'erano costruiti; ogni popolazione agì così nelle città in cui abitava.
30 So the men of Babylon made Soccoth-benoth; and the men of Cuth made Nergal; and the men of Hamath made Ashima;	30 Gli uomini di Babilonia fecero Succot-Benot; gli uomini di Cuta fecero Nergal; e gli uomini di Camat fecero Asima.
31 and the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak. Then those who were from Sepharvaim burned up their children with fire, for the gods of Sepharvaim: Adram-melech and Anam-melech.	31 Gli Avviti fecero Nibcaz e Tartach; i Sefarviti bruciarono i loro figli in onore di Adram-Mèlech e di Anam-Mèlech, divinità di Sefarvàim.
32 But nevertheless, they worshipped the Lord. Then they made for themselves, from the least of the people, priests of the high places. And they placed them in the shrines of the high places.	32 Essi veneravano anche il Signore e si fecero dei sacerdoti delle alture, provenienti dalla loro cerchia, i quali officiavano per loro nei templi delle alture.
33 And though they worshipped the Lord, they also served their own gods, according to the custom of the nations from which they had been transferred into Samaria.	33 Essi veneravano il Signore assieme ai loro dèi, secondo il rito delle genti da cui erano stati deportati.
34 Even to the present day, they follow the ancient customs; they do not fear the Lord, and they do not keep his ceremonies, and judgments, and law, and commandment, which the Lord had instructed to the sons of Jacob, whom he named Israel.	34 A tutt'oggi essi agiscono secondo i loro riti antichi. Pertanto non venerano il Signore né agiscono secondo i suoi statuti e i suoi riti, né secondo la legge e il comando che il Signore ha trasmesso ai figli di Giacobbe cui impose il nome di Israele.
35 And he had struck a covenant with them, and he had commanded them, saying: “You shall not fear foreign gods, and you shall not adore them, and you shall not worship them, and you shall not sacrifice to them.	35 Il Signore, infatti, aveva stipulato con essi un'alleanza e aveva loro ordinato: "Non venerate gli dèi stranieri, non prostratevi davanti ad essi, non tributate loro il culto e non offrite loro dei sacrifici;
36 But the Lord, your God, who led you away from the land of Egypt, with great strength and with an outstretched arm, him shall you fear, and him shall you adore, and to him shall you sacrifice.	36 bensì venerate solo il Signore che vi ha fatto uscire dal paese d'Egitto con grande potenza e braccio disteso; davanti a lui solo prostratevi e a lui solo offrite sacrifici.
37 Also, the ceremonies, and judgments, and law, and commandment, which he wrote for you, you shall keep so that you do them for all days. And you shall not fear strange gods.	37 Osservate gli statuti e i decreti, la legge e il comando che egli scrisse per voi affinché li pratichiate tutti i giorni; ma non venerate gli dèi stranieri.
38 And the covenant, which he struck with you, you shall not forget; neither shall you worship strange gods.	38 Non dimenticate il patto che ho stipulato con voi né venerate gli dèi stranieri.
39 But you shall fear the Lord, your God. And he will rescue you from the hand of all your enemies.”	39 Venerate soltanto il Signore, vostro Dio, ed egli vi libererà dalla mano di tutti i vostri nemici".
40 Yet truly, they did not listen to this. Instead, they acted in accord with their earlier custom.	40 Essi però non prestarono ascolto, ma continuarono ad agire secondo i loro antichi riti.
41 And such were these nations: to some extent fearing the Lord, yet nevertheless also serving their idols. As for their sons and grandsons, just as their fathers acted, so also did they act, even to the present day.	41 Così quelle popolazioni veneravano il Signore e, nello stesso tempo, rendevano il culto ai loro idoli. Anche i loro figli e i figli dei loro figli continuano a fare fino ad oggi come avevano fatto i loro padri.
