1 Samuel 19

1 Saul let his son Jonathan and al his servants know of his intention to kil David. But Jonathan, Saul'sson, held David in great affection;	1 Саул сказав Йонатанові, своєму синові, й усім своїм слугам, що треба Давида вбити. Йонатан же, син Саула, був дуже прихильний до Давида,
2 and Jonathan warned David, 'My father Saul is looking for a way to kil you, so be on your guardtomorrow morning; go into hiding, stay out of sight.	2 і попередив його словами: «Саул, мій батько, наваживсь тебе вбити. Гляди ж, остерігайся завтра: сиди потай, заховайсь!
3 I shal go out and keep my father company in the countryside where you wil be, and shal talk to myfather about you; I shal see what the situation is and then tel you.'	3 Я ж вийду й стану коло батька в полі, де ти будеш, і розмовлятиму про тебе з батьком, і що побачу, про те сповіщу тебе.»
4 Jonathan spoke highly of David to Saul his father and said, 'The king should not harm his servantDavid; far from harming you, what he has done has been greatly to your advantage.	4 Йонатан говорив Саулові, своєму батькові, добре про Давида, кажучи йому: «Нехай цар не грішить проти слуги свого Давида, бо він не провинився проте тебе, й те, що він зробив тобі, дуже корисне.
5 He took his life in his hands, he killed the Philistine, and Yahweh brought about a great victory for al Israel. You saw for yourself. How pleased you were! Why then sin against innocent blood by kil ing David for noreason?'	5 Він виставляв своє життя на небезпеку, він убив філістимлянина, й Господь через нього дав усьому Ізраїлеві велику перемогу: ти сам те бачив і веселився. Навіщо ж гріх на себе брати, кров невинну проливати, вбиваючи Давида без причини?»
6 Saul was impressed by Jonathan's words. Saul swore, 'As Yahweh lives, I wil not kill him.'	6 Послухав Саул Йонатана й поклявся: «Так певно як Господь живе, він не помре!»
7 Jonathan called David and told him al this. Jonathan then brought him to Saul, and David remained inattendance as before.	7 Покликав тоді Йонатан Давида і, передавши йому всю оцю розмову, ввів Давида до Саула, й був він при ньому, як і перше.
8 War broke out again and David sallied out to fight the Philistines; he inflicted a great defeat on themand they fled before him.	8 Якже війна розпочалася знову, двигнувся Давид у похід і воював з філістимлянами й учинив між ними велику різанину, так що вони втекли від нього.
9 An evil spirit from Yahweh came over Saul while he was sitting in his house with his spear in his hand;David was playing the harp.	9 Та на Саула напав злий дух від Господа. Він сидів дома зо списом у руках, коли Давид грав на гуслах.
10 Saul tried to pin David to the wal with his spear, but he avoided Saul's thrust and the spear stuck inthe wal . David fled and made good his escape. That same night	10 Саул хотів прибити Давида списом до стіни, але він відскочив від Саула, спис устромився в стіну, а Давид утік і спасся.
11 Saul sent agents to watch David's house, intending to kil him in the morning. But Michal, David'swife, warned him, 'If you do not escape tonight, you wil be a dead man tomorrow!'	11 Тієї ж самої ночі Саул послав гінців у дім Давида, щоб стерегти його й уранці вбити. Та Міхаль, жінка Давида, його про те сповістила: коли ти, мовляв, не врятуєшся цієї ночі, завтра будеш убитий!
12 Michal then let David down through the window, and he made off, took to flight and so escaped.	12 і спустила Міхаль Давида через вікно. Отак він пішов геть, утік і врятувався.
13 Michal then took a domestic image, laid it on the bed, put a tress of goats' hair at the head of the bedand put a cover over it.	13 Міхаль же взяла домашнього божка і поклала його в ліжко, а в головах його поклала козячу шкуру й прикрила одежею ліжко.
14 When Saul sent the agents to arrest David, she said, 'He is il .'	14 А як Саул прислав гінців узяти Давида, вона сказала: він, мовляв, хворий.
15 Saul sent the agents back to see David, with the words, 'Bring him to me on his bed, for me to kilhim!'	15 І відіслав Саул гінців назад, щоб побачити Давида, й наказав їм: «Принесіть його до мене в ліжку! Я мушу його вбити!»
16 So in the agents went, and there in bed was the image, with the tress of goats' hair on its head!	16 Прийшли гінці — аж ось домашній божок у ліжку, а в головах у нього козяча шкура.
17 Saul then said to Michal, 'Why have you deceived me like this and let my enemy go, and so make hisescape?' Michal replied to Saul, 'He said, "Let me go, or I shal kill you!" '	17 І каже Саул до Міхалі: «Чого ти мене так ошукала й випустила ворога мого, щоб він утік?» Міхаль же відповіла Саулові: «То він сказав до мене: Пусти мене, а якщо ні, вб’ю тебе!»
18 David, having fled and made his escape, went to Samuel at Ramah and told him exactly how Saulhad treated him; he and Samuel went and lived in the huts.	18 Отак Давид утік і, врятувавшись, прибув у Раму до Самуїла й розповів йому все, що Саул з ним зробив був. Потім пішли — сам він і Самуїл — та оселилися в Найоті.
19 Word was brought to Saul, 'David is in the huts at Ramah.'	19 Якже Саулові переказали: «Давид у Найоті в Рамі»,
20 Saul accordingly sent agents to capture David; when they saw the community of prophetsprophesying, and Samuel there as their leader, the spirit of God came over Saul's agents, and they too fel intofrenzy.	20 послав Саул посланців, щоб узяти Давида, й як ці побачили громаду провіщаючих пророків разом із Самуїлом, який був на чолі в них, дух Божий зійшов на посланців Саула, і вони й собі заходилися пророкувати.
21 When Saul was told of this, he sent other agents, and they too fel into frenzy; Saul then sent a thirdgroup of agents, and they fel into frenzy too.	21 Повідомлено про те Саула, й він послав других гінців, та й ці стали пророкувати. І як послав гінців утретє, то й ці теж почали віщувати.
22 He then went to Ramah himself and, arriving at the large storage-wel at Seku, asked, 'Where areSamuel and David?' And someone said, 'Why, they are in the huts at Ramah!'	22 Тоді він сам пішов у Раму й, дійшовши до великої ритви, що в Сеху, спитав: «Де Самуїл і Давид?» Йому відповіли: «В Найоті, в Рамі.»
23 Making his way from there to the huts at Ramah, the spirit of God came over him too, and he wentalong in a frenzy until he arrived at the huts at Ramah.	23 І він пішов звідтіль у Найот у Рамі, й дух Божий спустився на нього, і він увесь час віщував, ідучи в дорозі, аж поки прийшов у Найот у Рамі.
24 He too stripped off his clothes and he too fell into a frenzy in Samuel's presence, then col apsednaked on the ground for the rest of that day and al night. Hence the saying: Is Saul one of the prophets too?	24 Він теж скинув із себе одежу й почав пророкувати перед Самуїлом, потім упав голий на землю і лежав увесь той день і ніч. Тому й пішла приповідка: «Хіба Саул також поміж пророками?»
