Deuteronomy 11

NEW JERUSALEM	VULGATA
1 'You must love Yahweh your God and always keep his observances, his laws, his customs, hiscommandments.	1 Ama itaque Dominum Deum tuum, et observa præcepta ejus et cæremonias, judicia atque mandata, omni tempore.
2 You are the ones who have had the experience, not your children. They have not had the experience,they have not witnessed the lessons of Yahweh your God, his greatness, his mighty hand and his outstretchedarm,	2 Cognoscite hodie quæ ignorant filii vestri, qui non viderunt disciplinam Domini Dei vestri, magnalia ejus et robustam manum, extentumque brachium,
3 the signs and the deeds which he performed in the heart of Egypt, against Pharaoh king of Egypt andhis entire country,	3 signa et opera quæ fecit in medio Ægypti Pharaoni regi, et universæ terræ ejus,
4 what he did to the armies of Egypt, to their horses and their chariots, by overwhelming them with thewaters of the Sea of Reeds when they were pursuing you, and leaving no trace of them to this day;	4 omnique exercitui Ægyptiorum, et equis ac curribus : quomodo operuerint eos aquæ maris Rubri, cum vos persequerentur, et deleverit eos Dominus usque in præsentem diem :
5 what he did for you in the desert, until you arrived here;	5 vobisque quæ fecerit in solitudine donec veniretis ad hunc locum :
6 what he did to Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab the Reubenite, when, with al Israel standinground, the earth opened its mouth and swal owed them, with their families, their tents and al their supporters.	6 et Dathan atque Abiron filiis Eliab, qui fuit filius Ruben : quos aperto ore suo terra absorbuit, cum domibus et tabernaculis, et universa substantia eorum, quam habebant in medio Israël.
7 Al these great deeds of Yahweh you have seen with your own eyes.	7 Oculi vestri viderunt opera Domini magna quæ fecit,
8 'You must keep al the commandments which I enjoin on you today, so that you may have the strengthto conquer the country into which you are about to cross, to take possession of it,	8 ut custodiatis universa mandata illius, quæ ego hodie præcipio vobis, et possitis introire, et possidere terram, ad quam ingredimini,
9 and so that you may live long in the country which Yahweh promised on oath to bestow on yourancestors and their descendants, a country flowing with milk and honey.	9 multoque in ea vivatis tempore : quam sub juramento pollicitus est Dominus patribus vestris, et semini eorum, lacte et melle manantem.
10 'For the country which you are about to enter and make your own is not like the country of Egyptfrom which you have come, where, having done your sowing, you had to water the seed by foot, as though in avegetable garden.	10 Terra enim, ad quam ingrederis possidendam, non est sicut terra Ægypti, de qua existi, ubi jacto semine in hortorum morem aquæ ducuntur irriguæ :
11 No, the country which you are about to enter and make your own, is a country of hills and val eyswatered by the rain of heaven.	11 sed montuosa est et campestris, de cælo expectans pluvias,
12 Yahweh your God looks after this country, the eyes of Yahweh your God are always on it, from thebeginning of the year to the end.	12 quam Dominus Deus tuus semper invisit, et oculi illius in ea sunt a principio anni usque ad finem ejus.
13 Depend on it: if you faithfully obey the commandments I enjoin on you today, loving Yahweh yourGod and serving him with al your heart and al your soul,	13 Si ergo obedieritis mandatis meis, quæ ego hodie præcipio vobis, ut diligatis Dominum Deum vestrum, et serviatis ei in toto corde vestro, et in tota anima vestra :
14 I shal give your country rain at the right time, rain in autumn, rain in spring, so that you can harvestyour wheat, your new wine and your oil.	14 dabit pluviam terræ vestræ temporaneam et serotinam, ut colligatis frumentum, et vinum, et oleum,
15 I shal provide grass in the fields for your cattle, and you will eat to your heart's content.	15 fœnumque ex agris ad pascenda jumenta, et ut ipsi comedatis ac saturemini.
16 Beware of letting your heart be seduced: if you go astray, serve other gods and bow down to them,	16 Cavete ne forte decipiatur cor vestrum, et recedatis a Domino, serviatisque diis alienis, et adoretis eos :
17 Yahweh's anger wil be kindled against you, he wil shut the heavens, there wil be no more rain, thesoil wil not yield its produce and, in the fine country given you by Yahweh, you wil quickly perish.	17 iratusque Dominus claudat cælum, et pluviæ non descendant, nec terra det germen suum, pereatisque velociter de terra optima, quam Dominus daturus est vobis.
18 'Let these words of mine remain in your heart and in your soul; fasten them on your hand as a signand on your forehead as a headband.	18 Ponite hæc verba mea in cordibus et in animis vestris, et suspendite ea pro signo in manibus, et inter oculos vestros collocate.
19 Teach them to your children, and keep on tel ing them, when you are sitting at home, when you areout and about, when you are lying down and when you are standing up.	19 Docete filios vestros ut illa meditentur : quando sederis in domo tua, et ambulaveris in via, et accubueris atque surrexeris.
20 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates,	20 Scribes ea super postes et januas domus tuæ,
21 so that you and your children may live long in the country which Yahweh swore to your ancestorsthat he would give them for as long as there is a sky above the earth.	21 ut multiplicentur dies tui, et filiorum tuorum in terra, quam juravit Dominus patribus tuis, ut daret eis quamdiu cælum imminet terræ.
22 'For if you faithful y keep and observe al these commandments that I enjoin on you today, lovingYahweh your God, following all his ways and holding fast to him,	22 Si enim custodieritis mandata quæ ego præcipio vobis, et feceritis ea, ut diligatis Dominum Deum vestrum, et ambuletis in omnibus viis ejus, adhærentes ei,
23 Yahweh wil dispossess al these nations before you, and you wil dispossess nations greater andmore powerful than yourselves.	23 disperdet Dominus omnes gentes istas ante faciem vestram, et possidebitis eas, quæ majores et fortiores vobis sunt.
24 Wherever the sole of your foot treads wil be yours; your territory will run from the desert al the wayto the Lebanon; and from the River, from the River Euphrates, as far as the Western Sea, wil be your territory.	24 Omnis locus, quem calcaverit pes vester, vester erit. A deserto, et a Libano, a flumine magno Euphrate usque ad mare occidentale erunt termini vestri.
25 No one wil be able to resist you; Yahweh your God will make you feared and dreaded throughout theterritory you tread, as he has promised you.	25 Nullus stabit contra vos : terrorem vestrum et formidinem dabit Dominus Deus vester super omnem terram quam calcaturi estis, sicut locutus est vobis.
26 'Today, look, I am offering you a blessing and a curse:	26 En propono in conspectu vestro hodie benedictionem et maledictionem :
27 a blessing, if you obey the commandments of Yahweh your God which I enjoin on you today;	27 benedictionem, si obedieritis mandatis Domini Dei vestri, quæ ego hodie præcipio vobis :
28 a curse, if you disobey the commandments of Yahweh your God and leave the way which today Ihave marked out for you, by following other gods hitherto unknown to you.	28 maledictionem, si non obedieritis mandatis Domini Dei vestri, sed recesseritis de via, quam ego nunc ostendo vobis, et ambulaveritis post deos alienos, quos ignoratis.
29 And when Yahweh your God has brought you into the country which you are about to enter andmake your own, you must set the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal.	29 Cum vero introduxerit te Dominus Deus tuus in terram, ad quam pergis habitandam, pones benedictionem super montem Garizim, maledictionem super montem Hebal :
30 (These mountains, as everyone knows, are on the other side of the Jordan on the westward road, inthe territory of the Canaanites who live in the Arabah, opposite Gilgal, near the Oak of Moreh.)	30 qui sunt trans Jordanem, post viam quæ vergit ad solis occubitum in terra Chananæi, qui habitat in campestribus contra Galgalam, quæ est juxta vallem tendentem et intrantem procul.
31 For you are about to cross the Jordan, to enter and take possession of the country given you byYahweh your God. You wil possess it, you wil live in it,	31 Vos enim transibitis Jordanem, ut possideatis terram quam Dominus Deus vester daturus est vobis, ut habeatis et possideatis illam.
32 and you must keep and observe al the laws and customs promulgated by me to you today.'	32 Videte ergo ut impleatis cæremonias atque judicia, quæ ego hodie ponam in conspectu vestro.
