Luke 24

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA VOLGARE
1 On the first day of the week, at the first sign of dawn, they went to the tomb with the spices they hadprepared.	1 E il primo giorno del sabbato, molto per tempo, vennero al monumento, portando le speziarie che loro aveano apparecchiate.
2 They found that the stone had been rol ed away from the tomb,	2 Le quali trovorono la pietra essere rivoltata dal monumento.
3 but on entering they could not find the body of the Lord Jesus.	3 Ed entrate, non ritrovorono il corpo del Signore Iesù.
4 As they stood there puzzled about this, two men in bril iant clothes suddenly appeared at their side.	4 E fatto che fu questo, furono sbigottite di mente; ed ecco due uomini vestiti in vestimento risplendente.
5 Terrified, the women bowed their heads to the ground. But the two said to them, 'Why look among thedead for someone who is alive?	5 Temendo adunque quelle, e abbassando il volto in terra, dissero a quelle: che cercate voi il vivente con gli morti?
6 He is not here; he has risen. Remember what he told you when he was still in Galilee:	6 Egli non è quivi, ma egli è resuscitato; arricordatevi come egli vi parlò, essendo ancora egli in Galilea,
7 that the Son of man was destined to be handed over into the power of sinful men and be crucified, andrise again on the third day.'	7 dicendo: come bisogna essere dato il Figliuolo dell' uomo nelle mani de' peccatori, ed essere crucifisso, e il terzo giorno resuscitarebbe.
8 And they remembered his words.	8 E ricordoronsi quelle delle sue parole.
9 And they returned from the tomb and told al this to the Eleven and to al the others.	9 E ritornate dal monumento, raccontorono queste cose a quelli undici, e a tutti gli altri.
10 The women were Mary of Magdala, Joanna, and Mary the mother of James. And the other womenwith them also told the apostles,	10 Ed eravi Maria Magdalena, e Ioanna e Maria di Iacobo, e l'altre ch' erano con loro, le quali dicevano queste cose alli apostoli.
11 but this story of theirs seemed pure nonsense, and they did not believe them.	11 E dinanzi a loro apparevano come uno scherno questi parlari; e non gli credettero.
12 Peter, however, went off to the tomb, running. He bent down and looked in and saw the linen clothsbut nothing else; he then went back home, amazed at what had happened.	12 Onde levandosi Pietro, corse al monumento; e abbassandosi vide le lenzuola essere poste sole, e partissi, fra se meravigliandosi di quel ch' era fatto.
13 Now that very same day, two of them were on their way to a vil age cal ed Emmaus, seven miles fromJerusalem,	13 Ed ecco, due de' discepoli di Iesù andavano, in quel giorno, in uno castello che avea nome Emmaus, il quale era di lungi di Ierusalem sette miglia e mezzo.
14 and they were talking together about al that had happened.	14 E parlavano insieme di tutte cose ch' erano avvenute.
15 And it happened that as they were talking together and discussing it, Jesus himself came up andwalked by their side;	15 E così dimandando e rispondendo insieme, e Iesù accostossi a loro, e andavano insieme.
16 but their eyes were prevented from recognising him.	16 Ma gli suoi occhi erano oscurati, e non lo conoscevano.
17 He said to them, 'What are all these things that you are discussing as you walk along?' They stopped,their faces downcast.	17 E Iesù disse a loro: che parole sono queste che voi insieme andate parlando, e siete così contristati?
18 Then one of them, called Cleopas, answered him, 'You must be the only person staying in Jerusalemwho does not know the things that have been happening there these last few days.'	18 Rispose uno di loro, il quale avea nome Cleofas, e disse: tu sei solo peregrino in Ierusalem, e non hai sapute queste cose che sono state fatte in questi giorni?
19 He asked, 'What things?' They answered, 'Al about Jesus of Nazareth, who showed himself aprophet powerful in action and speech before God and the whole people;	19 Ed egli disse a loro: che cose? Ed egli dissero: di Iesù Nazareno, il quale fu uomo perfetto, e potente in opere e in parole dinanzi a Dio e a ogni popolo;
20 and how our chief priests and our leaders handed him over to be sentenced to death, and had himcrucified.	20 e come li sommi sacerdoti e principi nostri condannoronlo a morte, e hannolo crucifisso.
21 Our own hope had been that he would be the one to set Israel free. And this is not al : two whole dayshave now gone by since it al happened;	21 E noi speravamo ch' egli dovesse ricomperare (il popolo d') Israel; e ora, sopra tutte queste cose, è oggi il terzo giorno che queste cose furono fatte.
22 and some women from our group have astounded us: they went to the tomb in the early morning,	22 Ma bene è vera cosa, che alcune delle nostre donne andorono al monumento per tempo, inanzi dì,
23 and when they could not find the body, they came back to tel us they had seen a vision of angelswho declared he was alive.	23 e non trovorono il corpo suo. Tornorono e dissero, come aveano veduti gli angioli, li quali dicono ch' egli vive.
24 Some of our friends went to the tomb and found everything exactly as the women had reported, but ofhim they saw nothing.'	24 E anche alcuni de' nostri andorono al monumento; e trovorono come le donne aveano detto; ma lui non trovorono.
25 Then he said to them, 'You foolish men! So slow to believe al that the prophets have said!	25 E Iesù disse a loro: o stolti, e tardi di cuore. a credere di tutte le cose le quali hanno detto gli profeti!
26 Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer before entering into his glory?'	26 Or non era bisogno che Cristo patisse morte in questo mondo, e così entrasse nella gloria sua?
27 Then, starting with Moses and going through al the prophets, he explained to them the passagesthroughout the scriptures that were about himself.	27 E incominciando da Moisè e dalli profeti, esponeva a loro tutte le scritture le quali parlavano di lui.
28 When they drew near to the vil age to which they were going, he made as if to go on;	28 E approssimandosi al castello dove andavano, Iesù si finse di andare più alla lunga.
29 but they pressed him to stay with them saying, 'It is nearly evening, and the day is almost over.' So hewent in to stay with them.	29 Ed egli pregoronlo, e dicevano: signore, sta con noi, imperò ch' egli è già vespero, e fassi sera e poco dì. E (così dicendo) entrò nel castello con loro.
30 Now while he was with them at table, he took the bread and said the blessing; then he broke it andhanded it to them.	30 E sedendo con loro a mensa (e mangiando), prese Iesù il pane, e benedisselo, e ruppelo, e dettel of a loro.
31 And their eyes were opened and they recognised him; but he had vanished from their sight.	31 E in questo si apersono gli occhi loro, e cognobberonlo; ed egli disparve dinanzi da' loro occhi.
32 Then they said to each other, 'Did not our hearts burn within us as he talked to us on the road andexplained the scriptures to us?'	32 Ed egli poi dicevano insieme: or come non ardeva il cuore nostro nella via, mentre che noi favellavamo con lui, e aprivaci le Scritture?
33 They set out that instant and returned to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven assembled togetherwith their companions,	33 E levandosi su in quella medesima ora, tornorono in Ierusalem; e trovorono radunati gli undici (discepoli) e altri con loro.
34 who said to them, 'The Lord has indeed risen and has appeared to Simon.'	34 E dicevano veramente il Signore è resuscitato, ed è apparito a Simone.
35 Then they told their story of what had happened on the road and how they had recognised him at thebreaking of bread.	35 Ed egli narrorono a loro quelle cose che erano incontrate a loro nella via, e come lo cognobbero nel rompere del pane.
36 They were still talking about al this when he himself stood among them and said to them, 'Peace bewith you!'	36 Mentre che loro contorono queste cose, stette Iesù in mezzo di loro, e disse: pace sia con voi, imperò ch' io sono desso (e imperò) non vogliate temere.
37 In a state of alarm and fright, they thought they were seeing a ghost.	37 E gli discepoli si conturborono, e sbigottironsi, e credevano vedere uno spirito.
38 But he said, 'Why are you so agitated, and why are these doubts stirring in your hearts?	38 E Iesù disse a loro: perchè vi turbate, e perchè avete questa cogitazione nelli cuori vostri?
39 See by my hands and my feet that it is I myself. Touch me and see for yourselves; a ghost has noflesh and bones as you can see I have.'	39 Vedete le mie mani e li miei piedi, imperò ch' io sono; e palpatemi, e vedetemi, imperò che il spirito non ha carne nè ossa, sì come voi vedete avere a me.
40 And as he said this he showed them his hands and his feet.	40 E detto ch' ebbe a loro queste parole, mostrò a loro le mani e gli piedi.
41 Their joy was so great that they stil could not believe it, as they were dumbfounded; so he said tothem, 'Have you anything here to eat?'	41 Ma ancora loro non credendo, e meravigliandosi di grande allegrezza, disse: avete alcuna cosa da mangiare?
42 And they offered him a piece of gril ed fish,	42 E loro gli portorono uno poco di pesce arrostito, e uno (poco di favo) di miele.
43 which he took and ate before their eyes.	43 E mangiò in loro presenza, e prese il rimanente, e dienne a loro.
44 Then he told them, 'This is what I meant when I said, while I was stil with you, that everything writtenabout me in the Law of Moses, in the Prophets and in the Psalms, was destined to be fulfilled.'	44 E disse a loro: queste sono le parole ch' io vi preponeva quando io era con voi, imperò ch' era bisogno che si adempisse ogni cosa ch' è scritta nella legge di Moisè e nelli profeti, li quali parlorono di me.
45 He then opened their minds to understand the scriptures,	45 E allora aperse a loro il senso; e acciò che intendessero la Scrittura,
46 and he said to them, 'So it is written that the Christ would suffer and on the third day rise from thedead,	46 disse a loro: egli era scritto, egli era di bisogno, che Cristo patisse morte, e resuscitasse il terzo giorno;
47 and that, in his name, repentance for the forgiveness of sins would be preached to al nations,beginning from Jerusalem.	47 e di predicare nel nome suo la penitenza e la remissione de' peccati a tutte le genti, incominciando da Ierusalem.
48 You are witnesses to this.	48 E voi siete testimonii di questi fatti.
49 'And now I am sending upon you what the Father has promised. Stay in the city, then, until you areclothed with the power from on high.'	49 E manderò la promessione del padre mio in voi: ma voi state nella cittade, insino a tanto che vi vestiate la vertude da alto.
50 Then he took them out as far as the outskirts of Bethany, and raising his hands he blessed them.	50 E menoe loro fuori in Betania; e levate le mani sue, benedisse loro.
51 Now as he blessed them, he withdrew from them and was carried up to heaven.	51 E fatto è che mentre benedisse loro, partissi da loro, e portavasi nel cielo.
52 They worshipped him and then went back to Jerusalem ful of joy;	52 Ed essi adorando si ritornarono in Ierusalem con grande allegrezza.
53 and they were continually in the Temple praising God.	53 Ed erano sempre nel tempio, laudando e benedicendo Iddio. Amen.
