Malachi 1

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA VOLGARE
1 A message. The word of Yahweh to Israel through Malachi.	1 Questo è lo carico della parola del Signore a Israel in mano di Malachia (profeta).
2 'I have loved you, says Yahweh. But you ask, "How have you shown your love?" Was not Esau Jacob'sbrother? declares Yahweh; even so, I loved Jacob	2 Dice lo Signore: io hoe amato voi; e voi diceste: in che hai tu amato noi? Or non era Esaù fratello di Iacob? dice lo Signore, e io amai Iacob,
3 but I hated Esau. I turned his mountains into a desert and his heritage into dwellings in the wastelands.	3 ed Esaù ebbi in odio? e puosi i suoi monti in isbandeggiamento, e la sua ereditate tra i dragoni del diserto.
4 If Edom says, "We have been struck down but we shall rebuild our ruins," Yahweh Sabaoth says this,"Let them build, but I shal pul down! They wil be known as Land of Wickedness and Nation-with-which-Yahweh-is-angry-for-ever.	4 E se Idumea averà detto: noi siamo distrutti, ma ritornando edificheremo quelle cose che erano distrutte, questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti: questi edificheranno, e io disfarò; e saranno chiamati termini dispietati, e lo popolo a cui Iddio fu adirato in eterno.
5 You wil see this yourselves and you wil say: Yahweh is mighty beyond the borders of Israel."	5 E li vostri occhi vedranno, e voi direte: sia magnificato lo Signore sopra lo termine d' Israel.
6 'The son honours his father, the slave stands in awe of his master. But if I am indeed father, where isthe honour due to me? And if I am indeed master, where is the awe due to me? says Yahweh Sabaoth to youpriests who despise my name. You ask, "How have we despised your name?"	6 Lo figliuolo onora lo padre, e lo servo (teme) lo suo Signore: adunque s' io sono padre, dove è lo mio onore? ... dice lo Signore delli esèrciti a voi, sacerdoti, i quali disprezzate il mio nome, e diceste: in che dispregiammo il tuo nome?
7 By putting pol uted food on my altar. You ask, "How have we polluted you?" By saying, "The table ofYahweh deserves no respect."	7 Voi offerite sopra lo mio altare lo pane corrotto, e dite in che [ti] abbiamo noi corrotto? Però che dite la mensa di Dio è dispetta.
8 When you bring blind animals for sacrifice, is this not wrong? When you bring the lame and thediseased, is this not wrong? If you offer them to your governor, see if he is pleased with them or receives yougraciously, says Yahweh Sabaoth.	8 Se voi offerite lo cieco a sacrificare, or non è male fatto? E se voi offerite lo zoppo e l'uomo pieno di languore, or non è male? Offerisci al tuo duca quello, se a lui piacerà, o s' egli riceverà la tua faccia, dice lo Signore delli esèrciti.
9 In that case, try pleading with God to take pity on us (that is what you have done), and wil he take anynotice? says Yahweh Sabaoth.	9 E ora pregate lo volto di Dio, acciò ch' elli abbia misericordia di voi; però che questo è fatto della vostra mano; se in alcuno modo riceva le vostre faccie, dice lo Signore delli esèrciti.
10 Why does one of you not close the doors and so stop the pointless lighting of fires on my altar? I amnot pleased with you, says Yahweh Sabaoth; from your hands I find no offerings acceptable.	10 Chi è in voi che chiuda li usci, e che incenda al mio grazioso altare? Dice lo Signore Iddio delli esèrciti a me non è volontade in voi, e non riceverò lo dono della vostra mano.
11 But from farthest east to farthest west my name is great among the nations, and everywhere incenseand a pure gift are offered to my name, since my name is great among the nations, says Yahweh Sabaoth.	11 Però che lo mio nome sì è grande dallo oriente insino allo occidente tra le genti; e in ogni luogo sì è sagrificato, e al mio nome sì è offerta (cioè) l'offerta pura; però che il mio nome sì è grande tra le genti, dice lo Signore delli esèrciti.
12 'But you have profaned it by saying, "The table of the Lord is pol uted, hence the food offered on itdeserves no respect."	12 E voi l'avete corrotto per ciò che dite la mensa [del Signore] è contaminata; e quello che vi si pone sopra è dispregevole al fuoco, quando divora quello.
13 You say, "How tiresome it al is!" and sniff disdainful y at me, says Yahweh Sabaoth. You bring astolen, lame or diseased animal, you bring that as an offering! Am I to accept this from you? says YahwehSabaoth.	13 E diceste: ecco che viene di fatica; e soffiaste in quello, dice lo Signore delli esèrciti, e portaste delle rapine lo zoppo e l'uomo pieno di languore, e dèste lo dono; or piglierò io quello della mano vostra? dice Iddio.
14 Cursed be the rogue who has a male in his flock but pays his vow by sacrificing a blemished animal tome! For I am a great king, says Yahweh Sabaoth, and among the nations my name inspires awe.'	14 Maledetto l'uomo pieno d' inganni, il quale hae lo maschio nella sua greggia, e facendo lo voto sacrifica a Dio lo debile (cioè lo più cattivo); però ch' io sono lo grande Signore, dice lo Signore delli esèrciti, e lo mio nome sì è terribile tra le genti.
