Ezekiel 24

NEW JERUSALEM	MODERN HEBREW BIBLE
1 In the ninth year, on the tenth day of the tenth month, the word of Yahweh was addressed to me asfol ows,	1 ויהי דבר יהוה אלי בשנה התשיעית בחדש העשירי בעשור לחדש לאמר
2 'Son of man, write down today's date, yes, today's, for this very day the king of Babylon began hisattack on Jerusalem.	2 בן אדם כתוב לך את שם היום את עצם היום הזה סמך מלך בבל אל ירושלם בעצם היום הזה
3 So pronounce a parable for this tribe of rebels. Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: Put the pot on thefire; put it on; pour the water in!	3 ומשל אל בית המרי משל ואמרת אליהם כה אמר אדני יהוה שפת הסיר שפת וגם יצק בו מים
4 Now put the cuts of meat al in together, al the best cuts, leg and shoulder. Fill it with the best bones.	4 אסף נתחיה אליה כל נתח טוב ירך וכתף מבחר עצמים מלא
5 Take the best of the flock, then heap wood underneath; boil it thoroughly until even the bones arecooked.	5 מבחר הצאן לקוח וגם דור העצמים תחתיה רתח רתחיה גם בשלו עצמיה בתוכה
6 "For the Lord Yahweh says this: Disaster is in store for the bloody city, for that rusty cooking pot whose rust wil not come off! Empty it, bit by bit, not bothering to draw lots;	6 לכן כה אמר אדני יהוה אוי עיר הדמים סיר אשר חלאתה בה וחלאתה לא יצאה ממנה לנתחיה לנתחיה הוציאה לא נפל עליה גורל
7 for she is stil ful of bloodshed, she has put blood on the naked rock; she did not pour it on the groundso as to cover it with dust.	7 כי דמה בתוכה היה על צחיח סלע שמתהו לא שפכתהו על הארץ לכסות עליו עפר
8 To make anger rise, to exact vengeance, I have put her blood on the naked rock, so that it should notbe covered:	8 להעלות חמה לנקם נקם נתתי את דמה על צחיח סלע לבלתי הכסות
9 "So, the Lord Yahweh says this: Disaster is in store for the bloody city! I too plan to build a great fire.	9 לכן כה אמר אדני יהוה אוי עיר הדמים גם אני אגדיל המדורה
10 Heap on the wood, light it, cook the meat, prepare the seasoning let the bones burn!	10 הרבה העצים הדלק האש התם הבשר והרקח המרקחה והעצמות יחרו
11 Put the empty pot on the coals to make it hot, until the bronze glows, the filth inside melts and therust is burnt away!	11 והעמידה על גחליה רקה למען תחם וחרה נחשתה ונתכה בתוכה טמאתה תתם חלאתה
12 "But al that rust would not come off in the fire.	12 תאנים הלאת ולא תצא ממנה רבת חלאתה באש חלאתה
13 Your filth is infamous. Since I have tried to purge you and you would not let yourself be purged ofyour filth, so now you wil never be purged of your filth until I have sated my anger on you.	13 בטמאתך זמה יען טהרתיך ולא טהרת מטמאתך לא תטהרי עוד עד הניחי את חמתי בך
14 I, Yahweh, have spoken; this wil happen; I shal act and not relent; I shal show no pity, nocompassion. You will be judged as your conduct and actions deserve -- declares the Lord Yahweh." '	14 אני יהוה דברתי באה ועשיתי לא אפרע ולא אחוס ולא אנחם כדרכיך וכעלילותיך שפטוך נאם אדני יהוה
15 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,	15 ויהי דבר יהוה אלי לאמר
16 'Son of man, at a blow I am about to deprive you of the delight of your eyes. But you are not tolament, not to weep, not to let your tears run down.	16 בן אדם הנני לקח ממך את מחמד עיניך במגפה ולא תספד ולא תבכה ולוא תבוא דמעתך
17 Groan in silence, do not go into mourning for the dead, knot your turban round your head, put yoursandals on your feet, do not cover your beard, do not eat the usual food.'	17 האנק דם מתים אבל לא תעשה פארך חבוש עליך ונעליך תשים ברגליך ולא תעטה על שפם ולחם אנשים לא תאכל
18 I told this to the people in the morning, and my wife died in the evening, and the next morning I did asI had been ordered.	18 ואדבר אל העם בבקר ותמת אשתי בערב ואעש בבקר כאשר צויתי
19 The people then said to me, 'Will you not explain what meaning these actions have for us?'	19 ויאמרו אלי העם הלא תגיד לנו מה אלה לנו כי אתה עשה
20 I replied, 'The word of Yahweh has been addressed to me as fol ows,	20 ואמר אליהם דבר יהוה היה אלי לאמר
21 "Say to the House of Israel, the Lord Yahweh says this: I am about to profane my sanctuary, thepride of your strength, the delight of your eyes, the joy of your hearts. Your sons and daughters whom you haveleft behind wil fall by the sword.	21 אמר לבית ישראל כה אמר אדני יהוה הנני מחלל את מקדשי גאון עזכם מחמד עיניכם ומחמל נפשכם ובניכם ובנותיכם אשר עזבתם בחרב יפלו
22 Then you wil do as I have done: you wil not cover your beards or eat the usual food;	22 ועשיתם כאשר עשיתי על שפם לא תעטו ולחם אנשים לא תאכלו
23 you will keep your turbans on your heads and your sandals on your feet; you wil not lament or weepbut will waste away for your crimes, groaning among yourselves.	23 ופארכם על ראשיכם ונעליכם ברגליכם לא תספדו ולא תבכו ונמקתם בעונתיכם ונהמתם איש אל אחיו
24 Thus Ezekiel is a sign for you. You wil do exactly what he has done. And when this happens, you willknow that I am Lord Yahweh!"	24 והיה יחזקאל לכם למופת ככל אשר עשה תעשו בבאה וידעתם כי אני אדני יהוה
25 'And, son of man, the day that I deprive them of their strength, their crowning joy, the delight of theireyes, the joy of their hearts, their sons and daughters,	25 ואתה בן אדם הלוא ביום קחתי מהם את מעזם משוש תפארתם את מחמד עיניהם ואת משא נפשם בניהם ובנותיהם
26 that day a survivor wil bring you the news.	26 ביום ההוא יבוא הפליט אליך להשמעות אזנים
27 That day your mouth wil be opened to speak to the survivor; you wil speak and no longer be dumb;you wil be a sign for them, and they wil know that I am Yahweh.'	27 ביום ההוא יפתח פיך את הפליט ותדבר ולא תאלם עוד והיית להם למופת וידעו כי אני יהוה
