Jeremiah 48

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA VOLGARE
1 On Moab. Yahweh, God of Israel, says this: Wretched Nebo, for it has been ravaged, Kiriathaim hasbeen shamed and taken, shame and distraction on the citadel,	1 A Moab questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti, Iddio d' Israel: guai sopra Nabo! poi ch' è guasta e confusa (e morrà); presa è Cariataim; confusa è la forte e si spaurì.
2 the pride of Moab is no more! At Heshbon they plotted her downfal , 'Come, let us put an end to her asa nation!' And you too, inhabitants of Madmen, wil be silenced, the sword wil be after you.	2 Non ci è più allegrezza in Moab; e pensarono male contro a Esebon. Venite, e scacciatela dalla gente. Adunque istando cheta tacerai, e lo coltello ti seguiterà.
3 A cry of agony goes up from Horonaim, 'Devastation! Dire calamity.	3 La voce di romore di Oronaim: guastamento, e grande tritamento.
4 Moab has been shattered,' the agonised cries of her little ones ring out.	4 È trita Moab; annunziate lo romore alli suoi piccolini.
5 Up the slope of Luhith, weeping they go. On the road down to Horonaim is heard the shriek of disaster,	5 Luit salio piagnendo per lo salimento nel pianto; però che nella descensione di Oronaim li nimici udirono urlo di contrizione:
6 'Away! Flee for your lives like the wild donkey into the desert!'	6 Fuggite, salvate le vostre anime; e sarete quasi come [miriche] nel deserto.
7 Yes, since you relied on your deeds and your wealth, you wil be captured too. Chemosh wil go intoexile, with al his priests and princes.	7 Però che avesti fidanza nelle tue armature e ne' tuoi tesori, tu in verità sarai presa; e Camos anderà in transmigrazione, e li suoi sacerdoti e' suoi principi insieme.
8 The despoiler wil descend on every town, not one will escape; the Valley wil be ravaged, the Plain beplundered as Yahweh has said.	8 E verrà lo predatore ad ogni terra, e nulla terra sarà salvata; e le valli periranno, e li campi saranno (dipartiti e) sconciati; però che Iddio disse:
9 Give Moab wings so that she can fly away, for her towns wil be laid in ruins where no one wil ever liveagain.	9 Date lo fiore di Moab, per che di fuori uscirà; le sue cittadi saranno deserte e sanza abitazione.
10 (Accursed be he who does Yahweh's work negligently! Accursed be he who deprives his sword ofblood!)	10 Maledetto lo uomo che fa l' opera del Signore Iddio fraudolentemente; e maledetto colui che vieta lo suo coltello del sangue.
11 From his youth Moab lived at ease, he settled on his lees, never having been decanted, never havinggone into exile: and so he kept his own flavour, his aroma was unchanged.	11 Moab fu abbondante dalla sua fanciullezza, e riposossi nelle sue feci, e non è stato transmesso di vaso in vaso, e non andoe in transmigrazione; però rimase lo suo gusto in lui, e lo suo odore non è immutato.
12 And so the days are coming, Yahweh declares, when I shal send him decanters to decant him; theywil empty his pitchers and break his wine jars to bits.	12 Però, ecco, li dì vegnono, dice Iddio, e manderò loro ordinatori e facitori di barili, e lo faranno stare a basso, e attigneranno li suoi vasi, e li suoi barili si romperanno.
13 Moab wil be shamed by Chemosh then, as the House of Israel was shamed by Bethel in which theyput their trust.	13 E sarà confuso Moab da Camos, come è confusa la casa (sua) d' Israel da Betel, nella quale avea fidanza.
14 How can you say, 'We are heroes, sturdy fighting men'?	14 O come dite voi: noi siamo forti uomini, e robusti a combattere?
15 Moab has been ravaged, his cities scaled, the flower of his youth goes down to the slaughter,declares the King, whose name is Yahweh Sabaoth.	15 Moab è guastata; e le sue cittadi assalirono, e li suoi eletti giovani discesero in occisione, disse lo re; lo Signore delli esèrciti è lo suo nome.
16 Moab's ruin is coming soon, his downfal comes at top speed.	16 Presso è la morte di Moab per venire; lo suo male velocemente corre troppo.
17 Grieve for him, all you living near him, all you who knew his name. Say, 'How shattered it is, thatmighty rod, that splendid sceptre!'	17 Consolate lui, voi tutti che siete nel suo circuito; e voi che sapete lo suo nome, sì dite: come è rotta la verga forte, e la mazza gloriosa?
18 Come down from your glory, sit on the parched ground, daughter of Dibon, for the despoiler of Moabhas advanced on you, he has destroyed your strongholds.	18 Discendi (della forza) della gloria, e siedi nella sete, abitazione della figliuola di Dibon; però che lo guastatore di Moab verrà a te, e dissiperà le tue armadure.
19 Stand by the roadside, keep watch, daughter of Aroer. Question fugitive and runaway, ask, 'What hashappened?'	19 Istà nella via, e agguarda, abitazione di Aroer; addomanda quello che fugge, e a quello che è iscampato, die: che t'è avvenuto?
20 'Moab has been shattered and shamed. Wail and shriek! Shout along the Arnon, Moab has been laidwaste!'	20 Moab è confuso, però ch' egli è vinto; urlate e gridate, e annunziate in Arnon, però che guastato è Moab.
21 Judgement has also come on the Plain, on Holon, Jahzah, Mephaath,	21 E lo giudicio è venuto alla terra de' campi; sopra Elon e sopra Iasa e sopra Mefat,
22 Dibon, Nebo, Beth-Diblathaim,	22 e sopra Dibon e sopra Nabo [e sopra] la casa del Deblataim,
23 Kiriathaim, Beth-Gamul, Beth-Meon,	23 e sopra Cariataim e sopra Beltgamul e sopra Betmaon,
24 Kerioth, Bozrah, and al the towns of Moab, far and near.	24 e sopra Cariot e sopra Bosra e sopra tutte le cittadi della terra di Moab, le quali sono da lungi e appresso; (tutti questi sono nomi di terre).
25 Moab's horn has been cut off, his arm is broken, Yahweh declares.	25 Lo corno di Moab sì è tagliato, e lo braccio suo confratto, dice Iddio.
26 Make him drunk! He has set himself up against Yahweh; let Moab wal ow in his vomit and become alaughing-stock in his turn.	26 Inebriatelo (del calice dell' ira di Dio), però che s'è levato contro Iddio; e percoterà la mano di Moab nel suo vomito (cioè nel suo rigettare), e anco sarà dato lui in derisione.
27 Was Israel not a laughing-stock to you? Was he caught red-handed with the thieves, for you to shakeyour head whenever you mention him?	27 Fu anco iscorno a te, Israel, quasi come tu l'avessi trovato tra li latroni; adunque per le tue parole, le quali tu hai parlato contro a lui, sarai menato per prigione.
28 Leave the towns, make the rocks your home, inhabitants of Moab. Learn from the dove that makes itsnest in the wal s of the gaping gorge.	28 Abbandonate le cittadi, e abitate nelle pietre. voi abitatori di Moab; siate quasi come la colomba, che istà nel nido in sommo alla bocca del forame.
29 We have heard about Moab's pride, so very proud! What arrogance! What pride! What conceit! Whata haughty heart!	29 Noi aviamo udito la superbia di Moab; egli è molto superbo; la sublimità sua e la arroganza e la superbia e l'altezza del suo cuore.
30 -I know al about his presumption, Yahweh declares, his empty boasting, those empty deeds of his!	30 Dice Iddio: io so lo suo vanto e l' arroganza; non fia appo lei la sua virtude, appresso a quello che potea fare la fortezza.
31 -and so I lament for Moab, for al Moab I raise my cry and mourn for the people of Kir-Heres.	31 Però io mi lagnerò sopra Moab, e gridando dirò a tutto Moab, e alli uomini del muro fatto che si lamentavano.
32 More than for Jazer I weep for you, vineyard of Sibmah: your shoots stretched beyond the sea, they reached al the way to Jazer. On your harvest and vintage the despoiler has descended.	32 Del pianto di lazer io piagnerò a te, vigna Sabama; li tuoi rami passorono il mare, pervennero infino al mare di Iazer; il predatore venne (in rovina) sopra la tua ricolta e la vendemmia.
33 Gladness and joy have vanished from the orchards of Moab. I have dried up the wine in the presses,the treader of grapes treads no more, the joyful shouting has ceased.	33 La letizia e l'allegrezza è tolta di Carmelo e della terra di Moab; e ho tolto lo vino de' canali, e lo follatore dell' uva non canterà più la sua usata canzone.
34 The cries of Heshbon and Elealeh can be heard as far as Jahaz. The shrieks resound from Zoar toHoronaim and Eglath-Shelishiyah, for even the Waters of Nimrim have become a wasteland.	34 Dello romore d' Esebon insino ad Eleale e Iasa diedono la loro voce; di Segor insino ad Oronaim, come vitella che si gitta in terra; e l'acque di Nemrim seranno pessime.
35 And in Moab I shal make an end, Yahweh declares, of anyone offering sacrifice on the high placesand anyone offering incense to his gods.	35 E torrò di Moab, dice Iddio, quello che offera nelle altezze, e quelli che sacrificano alli iddii suoi.
36 That is why my heart sobs like a flute for Moab, sobs like a flute for the people of Kir-Heres, since thewealth he had acquired is lost.	36 Però lo mio cuore suonerà a Moab quasi casa di metallo; e lo mio cuore alli uomini del muro malvagio darà suono delle gambe; per che feciono più che non poterono; però perirono.
37 Yes, every head is shaved, every beard cut off, gashes are on every hand, sackcloth round everywaist.	37 Ogni capo sarà calvo, e ogni barba sarà rasa; in ogni mano sarà allegatura, e sopra ogni dorso sarà cilicio.
38 On al the housetops of Moab and in al its squares there is nothing but lamenting, for I have brokenMoab like an unwanted pot, Yahweh declares.	38 Sopra tutti li tetti di Moab e nelle sue piazze sarà tutto pianto; però che è trito Moab sì come vaso disutile, dice Iddio.
39 How shattered he is! Wail! Moab so shameful y in retreat! Moab has become a laughing-stock, a thingof horror to al his neighbours.	39 Com'è allegata, e urlano? come gittò Moab lo collo, e confuso è? E sarà Moab posto per ischerno, e in esempio a tutte le genti del suo circuito.
40 For Yahweh says this: (Look, like an eagle, he wil hover, spreading his wings over Moab.)	40 Questo dice Iddio: ecco, volerà a modo d' aquila, e distese l'ali sue a Moab.
41 The towns have been captured, the strongholds seized. (And the heart of Moab's warriors, that day,wil be like that of a woman in labour pains.)	41 Cariot sì è presa, e tutte le sue armature sono comprese; e sarà lo cuore de' forti di Moab in quello dì, come lo cuore della femina che partorisce.
42 Moab wil be destroyed, no longer a people, for setting itself up against Yahweh.	42 E lo populo sì cesserà d'essere di Moab; però che s'è gloriato incontro a Dio.
43 Terror, the pit and the snare for you, inhabitant of Moab, Yahweh declares.	43 Timore e fossa e lacciuolo sopra te, o abitatore di Moab, dice Iddio.
44 And anyone who escapes from terror wil fal into the pit, and anyone who climbs out of the pit wil becaught in the snare. Yes, I shall bring all this on Moab when the year comes for punishing them, Yahwehdeclares.	44 Chi fuggirà dalla faccia del timore (di Dio) cadrà nella fossa; e chi (sarà e) salirà della fossa sarà preso dal lacciuolo; io adducerò sopra Moab l'anno della loro visitazione, dice Iddio.
45 In the shelter of Heshbon the fugitives have paused, exhausted. But fire wil burst from Heshbon, aflame from the palace of Sihon, consuming the brows of Moab, the head of a turbulent brood.	45 Egli stettono nell' ombra di Esebon fuggenti dello lacciuolo; però che lo fuoco è uscito di Esebon, e la fiamma del mezzo di Seon, e divorerà la parte di Moab e la sommità de' figliuoli di tumulto. (Lo tumulto si è vocabolo in grammatica', che in volgare si dice quando una gente viene con grande furore).
46 Disaster for you, Moab! The people of Chemosh are lost! For your sons have been taken into exileand your daughters into captivity.	46 Guai a te, Moab! se' tu, popolo di Camos, perito; però che li tuoi figliuoli sono presi, e le tue figliuole sono poste in prigione.
47 But I shal bring back Moab's captives in the final days, Yahweh declares. Thus far the judgement onMoab.	47 E convertirò la cattivitade di Moab nelli novissimi dì, dice Iddio. Infino a qui si è trattato dei giudicii di Moab.
