Isaiah 41

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA VOLGARE
1 Coasts and islands, fal silent before me, and let the peoples renew their strength, let them comeforward and speak; let us assemble for judgement.	1 Tenghino silenzio a me le isole, e le genti mutino la loro fortezza; (vengano e) accostinsi a me, e allora parlino; e approssimiamci insieme al giudicio.
2 'Who has raised from the east him whom saving justice summons in its train, him to whom Yahwehdelivers up the nations and subjects kings, him who reduces them to dust with his sword, and to driven stubblewith his bow,	2 Chi risuscitò lo giusto dalla parte dell' oriente, lo chiamò che lo seguitasse? Egli darà nello suo cospetto le geuti, e otterrà (a sè) li re; e darà quasi come polvere nel suo coltello, e come uno filo di legne, che lo porta il vento, a lo suo arco.
3 him who pursues them and advances unhindered, his feet scarcely touching the road?	3 Perseguiterà loro, e passerà pacificamente; e non si vedrà orma a' suoi piedi.
4 Who has acted thus, who has done this? He who cal s each generation from the beginning: I, Yahweh,who am the first and til the last I shal still be there.'	4 Chi [si] mise a questa opera, e fecela? Chi chiamò le generazioni dal cominciamento ( ch' elle furono)? io sono lo primo Iddio, e l'ultimo.
5 The coasts and islands have seen and taken fright, the remotest parts of earth are trembling: they areapproaching, they are here!	5 E le isole (me) viddono, e temerono; e le estremità della terra maravigliaronsi; accostaronsi,
6 People help one another, they say to each other, 'Take heart!'	6 Ciascuno darà aiuto al suo prossimo, è dirà al suo fratello: prendi conforto.
7 The woodworker encourages the smelter, the polisher encourages the hammerer, saying of thesoldering, 'It is sound'; and he fastens it with nails to keep it steady.	7 E lo fabbro conforterà lui (cioè quello iddio) percuotendolo (cioè facendolo) col martello, il quale a quel tempo quando si scolpisce (si faceano e batteano in su la incudine) diceva: buono è a fare l'idolo; e con li chiovi lo confortò (cioè che lo firmò) per che non si movesse.
8 But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, descendant of Abraham my friend,	8 E tu, Israel servo mio, Iacob lo quale io hoe eletto a me, [tu] che fosti seme di Abraam mio amico,
9 whom I have taken to myself, from the remotest parts of the earth and summoned from countries faraway, to whom I have said, 'You are my servant, I have chosen you, I have not rejected you,'	9 nel quale io pigliai te delle estremità della terra, e chiamai te delle sue lontane parti, e dissi a te: tu sei mio servo, e io hoe eletto te (a me), e non t'ho scacciato (nè rimosso).
10 do not be afraid, for I am with you; do not be alarmed, for I am your God. I give you strength, truly Ihelp you, truly I hold you firm with my saving right hand.	10 Non temere, però ch' io sono teco; non ti spaventare, però ch' io sono il tuo Iddio; io hoe confortato te, e dato aiuto a te, e la mano diritta del mio giusto ricevette te.
11 Look, al those who rage against you wil be put to shame and humiliated; those who picked quarrelswith you will be reduced to nothing and wil perish.	11 Ecco che saranno confusi e vergognerannosi tutti quelli che combatteranno contro a te; e saranno come se non fussono, e periranno gli uomini che ti contradicono.
12 You wil look for them but wil not find them, those who used to fight you; they wil be destroyed andbrought to nothing, those who made war on you.	12 Tu gli cercherai, e non gli troverai, uomini tuoi ribelli; saranno come se non fussono, e quasi come uno consumamento sarà dell' uomo il quale combatterà incontro a te.
13 For I, Yahweh, your God, I grasp you by your right hand; I tel you, 'Do not be afraid, I shal help you.'	13 Però ch' io sono lo tuo Signore Iddio, che piglio la tua mano, e dico a te: non temere, però ch' io t'ho aiutato.
14 Do not be afraid, Jacob, you worm! You little handful of Israel! I shall help you, declares Yahweh; yourredeemer is the Holy One of Israel.	14 Non temere, tu verme di Iacob, voi i quali siete morti di Israel: io t'ho aiutato, dice il Signore, e sono redentore tuo santo d' Israel.
15 Look, I am making you into a threshing-sledge, new, with double teeth; you wil thresh and beat themountains to dust and reduce the hills to straw.	15 Io hoe posto te come uno carro nuovo tritante, che averà li denti taglianti; e tritera' li monti, e sì li minuzzera', e li colli saranno quasi polvere.
16 You wil winnow them and the wind wil carry them off, the gale will scatter them; whereas you wilrejoice in Yahweh, will glory in the Holy One of Israel.	16 Tu li ventolerai, e il vento li torrà, e li porterà via; e tu averai allegrezza nel Signore; e letizia averai nel santo d' Israel.
17 The oppressed and needy search for water, and there is none, their tongue is parched with thirst. I,Yahweh, shal answer them, I, the God of Israel, shal not abandon them.	17 Li bisognosi e li poveri domandano l'acqua, e non vi sono; e la lingua loro si seccoe per la sete. Io Signore esaudiroe loro, Iddio d' Israel non gli abbandonerò.
18 I shal open up rivers on barren heights and water-holes down in the ravines; I shall turn the desertinto a lake and dry ground into springs of water.	18 Io aprirò nelle parti di sopra de' colli li fiumi, e nel mezzo de' campi li fonti: e porrò lo deserto ne' radunamenti dell' acque, e la terra senza via in rami dell' acque.
19 I shal plant the desert with cedar trees, acacias, myrtles and olives; in the wastelands I shal putcypress trees, plane trees and box trees side by side;	19 E porrò lo cedro nel deserto, e la spina, e l'alboro che farà la mirra, e l' ulivo; porrò nel deserto l'abete e l' olmo e lo bosso insieme,
20 so that people may see and know, so that they may all observe and understand that the hand ofYahweh has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.	20 acciò che veggiano e pensino e sappiano e intendano, che la mano di Dio ha fatto questo, e lo santo d' Israel (dice lo Signore Iddio) creò quello.
21 'Present your case,' says Yahweh, 'Produce your arguments,' says Jacob's king.	21 Fate presso lo vostro giudicio, dice lo Signore Iddio; arrecate con voi, se forse voi avete niente, dicea lo re di Iacob.
22 'Let them produce and reveal to us what is going to happen. What happened in the past? Reveal it sothat we can consider it and know what the outcome wil be. Or tel us about the future,	22 Vengano innanzi, e annunzino a noi qualunque cose debbano avvenire; annunciate le cose che furono in prima; e porremo lo. cuore nostro, e sapremo le cose loro novissime; dimostrate a noi le cose che debbono venire.
23 reveal what is to happen next, and then we shal know that you are gods. At least, do something, be itgood or bad, so that we may feel alarm and fear.	23 (Venite e) annunciate quello che deve venire nel futuro, e sapremo che voi siete dii; fate o bene o male, se voi lo potete fare; e parliamo e veggiamoci insieme.
24 Look, you are less than nothingness, and what you do is less than nothing; to choose you is anoutrage.'	24 Ecco che voi siete di niente, e la vostra opera di quello che non è; abominazione è a colui lo quale hae eletto voi.
25 I have raised him from the north and he has come, from the east he has been summoned by name.He tramples on rulers like mud, like a potter treading clay.	25 Io sì suscitai d'aquilone, e verrà dal nascimento del sole; egli chiamerà il mio nome, e menerà li signori quasi come luto, e come lo pentolaio che preme la terra.
26 Who revealed this from the beginning for us to know, and in the past for us to say, 'That is right'? Noone in fact revealed it, no one proclaimed it, no one has heard you speak.	26 Chi annunciò del cominciamento, che noi sappiamo, e (cercò) dal principio, che noi diciamo : tu se' giusto? Or non è chi annuncii, nè chi predica; e non è chi oda li vostri detti.
27 First-fruits of Zion, look, here they come! I send a messenger to Jerusalem,	27 Lo primo dirà a Sion: io sono presente, e a Ierusalem darò evangelista.
28 and I look -- no one, not a single counsel or among them who, if I asked, could give an answer.	28 E io vidi che non era alcuno di costoro che facesse consiglio, e che (fosse) domandato ( ch' egli) rispondesse una parola.
29 Taken altogether they are nothingness, what they do is nothing, their statues, wind and emptiness.	29 Ecco che tutti sono ingiusti, e le loro opere sono vane; e tutti li loro idoli, quanti sono, sono vento e cosa vana.
