Isaiah 24

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 See how Yahweh lays the earth waste, makes it a desert, buckles its surface, scatters its inhabitants,	1 Miren, el Señor arrasa la tierra y la deja desierta, trastorna su faz y dispersa a sus habitantes.
2 priest and people alike, master and slave, mistress and maid, seller and buyer, lender and borrower,creditor and debtor.	2 Correrán la misma suerte tanto el pueblo como el sacerdote, el esclavo como su señor, la esclava como su señora, el comprador como el vendedor, el que pide prestado como el que presta, el acreedor como el deudor.
3 Ravaged, ravaged the earth wil be, despoiled, despoiled, for Yahweh has uttered this word.	3 La tierra es arrasada, sí, arrasada, saqueada por completo, porque el Señor ha pronunciado esta palabra.
4 The earth is mourning, pining away, the pick of earth's people are withering away.	4 La tierra está de duelo, desfallece, el mundo se marchita, desfallecen las alturas junto con la tierra.
5 The earth is defiled by the feet of its inhabitants, for they have transgressed the laws, violated thedecree, broken the everlasting covenant.	5 La tierra está profanada bajo los pies de los que la habitan, porque ellos violaron las leyes, transgredieron los preceptos, rompieron la alianza eterna.
6 That is why the curse has consumed the earth and its inhabitants pay the penalty, that is why theinhabitants of the earth have been burnt up and few people are left.	6 Por eso la Maldición devora la tierra y sus habitantes soportan la pena; por eso se consumen los habitantes de la tierra y no quedan más que unos pocos.
7 The new wine is mourning, the vine is withering away, the once merry-hearted are sighing.	7 El vino nuevo está de duelo, la viña desfallece, gimen los que estaban alegres.
8 The cheerful sound of tambourines is silent, the sound of revel ing is over, the cheerful sound of theharp is silent.	8 Cesó la alegría de los tamboriles, se acabó el tumulto de los que se divierten, cesó la alegría de las cítaras.
9 No more wil they sing over their wine, liquor wil taste bitter to the drinker.	9 Ya no se bebe vino entre canciones, el licor es amargo para el que lo bebe.
10 The city of nothingness is in ruins, every house is shut, no one can enter.	10 Se ha derrumbado la ciudad del caos, está cerrada la entrada de todas las casas.
11 People shout in the streets to try to get wine; al joy has vanished, happiness has been banished fromthe country.	11 Se pide vino a gritos por las calles, se ha apagado toda alegría, ha sido desterrada la alegría del país.
12 Nothing but rubble in the city, the gate has col apsed in ruins.	12 No queda más que desolación en la ciudad, la puerta ha sido rota a pedazos.
13 For at the heart of earth's life, among the peoples, it is as at the beating of the olive trees, as at thegleaning of the grapes when the grape harvest is over.	13 Sí, en medio de la tierra, entre las naciones, sucederá lo que pasa con el olivo, cuando se bajan a golpes las aceitunas, o cuando todavía quedan unos racimos, una vez acababa la vendimia.
14 They raise their voices, shouting for joy, in Yahweh's honour they shout from the west.	14 Ellos elevan la voz, gritan de alegría, aclaman desde el poniente la majestad del Señor.
15 'Yes, in the east, give glory to Yahweh, in the islands of the sea, to the name of Yahweh, God ofIsrael!'	15 Por eso en el oriente se glorifica al Señor, y en las costas del mar, el nombre del Señor, Dios de Israel.
16 We have heard psalms from the remotest parts of earth, 'Glory to the Upright One!' But I thought,'What an ordeal, what an ordeal! What misery for me!' The traitors have betrayed, the traitors have acted mosttreacherously.	16 Desde el confín de la tierra oímos cantar: «¡Gloria al Justo!».
17 Fear, the pit and the snare for you, inhabitants of the city!	17 ¡Terror, fosa y red, contra ti, habitante de la tierra!
18 And whoever flees from the cry of fear wil fal into the pit, and whoever climbs out of the pit will becaught in the snare. Yes, the sluice-gates above are open, the foundations of the earth are quaking.	18 El que huya del grito del terror, caerá en la fosa; el que suba del fondo de la fosa quedará atrapado en la red. Porque están abiertas las compuertas de lo alto y tiemblan los cimientos de la tierra.
19 A cracking, the earth cracks open, a jolting, the earth gives a jolt, a lurching, the earth lurchesbackwards and forwards.	19 ¡La tierra se quiebra, se resquebraja, la tierra se parte, se parte en pedazos, se mueve, se conmueve la tierra!
20 The earth wil reel to and fro like a drunkard, it will be shaken like a shanty; so heavy wil be its sin onit, it wil fal , never to rise again.	20 La tierra se tambalea como un borracho y se sacude como una cabaña. Tanto le pesa su pecado que cae y no se alzará nunca más.
21 When that day comes, Yahweh wil punish the armies of the sky above and on earth the kings of theearth;	21 Aquel día, el Señor pedirá cuenta al ejército de lo alto, en la altura, y a los reyes de la tierra, sobre la tierra.
22 they wil be herded together, herded together like prisoners in a dungeon and shut up in gaol, and,after long years, punished.	22 Ellos serán reunidos, reunidos en un calabozo, recluidos en una prisión, y después de muchos días tendrán que dar cuenta.
23 The moon will be confused and the sun ashamed, for Yahweh Sabaoth is king on Mount Zion and inJerusalem, and the Glory will radiate on their elders.	23 La luna se sonrojará y el sol se avergonzará, porque reinará el Señor de los ejércitos sobre el monte Sión y en Jerusalén, ante sus ancianos resplandecerá la Gloria.
