Isaiah 10

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA VOLGARE
1 Woe to those who enact unjust decrees, who compose oppressive legislation	1 Guai a quelli che compongono la malvagia legge, e quelli che scrivono le ingiustizie,
2 to deny justice to the weak and to cheat the humblest of my people of fair judgement, to make widowstheir prey and to rob the orphan.	2 per costringere nel giudicio li poveri, e facciano forza di pianto delli umili del mio populo, acciò che le vedove fussono loro preda, e rubassono li pupilli.
3 What wil you do on the day of punishment, when disaster comes from far away? To whom wil you runfor help and where wil you leave your riches,	3 Or che farete nel dì della visitazione e della miseria che verrà dalla lunga? e a cui adiutorio fuggirete? e dove lascerete la vostra gloria?
4 to avoid squatting among the captives or fal ing among the slain? After all this, his anger is not spent.No, his hand is still raised!	4 Non vi piegate sotto lo legame, però che voi caggerete con li morti di coltello. E sopra tutte queste cose non si rivolse il suo furore (cioè per tutte queste cose), ma la sua mano è distesa ancora.
5 Woe to Assyria, rod of my anger, the club in their hands is my fury!	5 Guai a te, Assur! verga del mio furore e bastone egli è; nella loro mano la mia indignazione.
6 I was sending him against a godless nation, commissioning him against the people who enraged me, topil age and plunder at will and trample on them like the mud in the streets.	6 Io manderò lui alla gente fallace; e contro al popolo del mio furore io comanderò a lui, che toglia e spogli e divida la preda, e ponga quello in conculcazione come lo luto delle piazze.
7 But this was not his intention nor did his heart plan it so, for he dreamed of putting an end to them, ofliquidating nations without number!	7 Ma egli non si penserà così, e lo cuore suo non penserà così; e lo suo cuore sarà a fracassare, e ad uccidimento di genti non poche.
8 For he thought, 'Are not my officers al kings?	8 [Perciò che dirà]:
9 Is not Calno like Carchemish, Hamath like Arpad, Samaria like Damascus?	9 or non sono li miei principi insieme re? or non come Carcamis, così è Calano? e come Arfad, e così è Emat? (Tutti questi sono nomi di cittadi) or non come Damasco, così è Samaria?
10 As my hand has found the kingdoms of the false gods, where there were more images than inJerusalem and Samaria,	10 Come trovò la mia mano li regni delli idoli, così trovarò le loro idolatrie di Ierusalem e di Samaria.
11 as I have treated Samaria and her false gods shal I not treat Jerusalem and her statues too?'	11 Or non farò io così alle statue di Ierusalem, come feci alli idoli di Samaria?
12 When the Lord has completed al his work on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, he wil punish the fruit ofthe king of Assyria's boastful heart and the insolence of his haughty looks.	12 E sarà; quando lo Signore averà compiuto nel monte di Sion e in Ierusalem tutte le sue opere, visiterò sopra lo frutto dello magnifico cuore dello re d' Assur, e sopra la gloria della grandezza de' suoi occhi.
13 For he thinks: 'By the strength of my own arm I have done this and by my own wisdom: how intel igentI have been! I have abolished the frontiers between peoples, I have plundered their treasures, like a hero, I havesubjugated their inhabitants.	13 E disse: nella fortezza della mia mano io hoe fatto, e intesi nella mia sapienza; e tolsi i termini de' popoli, e li loro principi hoe rubato, e trassi fuori come potente (nella mia sedia) coloro che credeano regnare.
14 My hand has found, as though a bird's nest, the riches of the peoples. Like someone col ectingdeserted eggs, I have col ected the whole world while no one has fluttered a wing or opened a beak to squawk.'	14 E trovò la mia mano la fortezza de' popoli, come si trovano i polli nel nido (che non si possono difendere); e sì come si ricolgono l' uova le quali sono abbandonate, così radunai tutta la terra; e non fue chi muovesse una penna, e aprisse la bocca e gracchiasse.
15 Does the axe claim more credit than the man who wields it, or the saw more strength than the manwho handles it? As though a staff controlled those who raise it, or the club could raise what is not made of wood!	15 Or (non) averà la scure gloria contro quello che (sega e) taglia con essa? ed esalterassi la sega contro a colui lo qual la mena? come si leva la verga contro a colui che la leva, e la mazza si è esaltata, la qual è legno.
16 That is why Yahweh Sabaoth is going to inflict leanness on his stout men, and beneath his glorykindle a fever burning like a fire.	16 E però manderà lo Signore delli eserciti nelli suoi grassi la magrezza; e l'arsione arderà sotto la sua sedia accesa.
17 The light of Israel wil become a fire and its Holy One a flame burning and devouring his thorn-bushesand brambles in a day.	17 E Israel sarà lume nel fuoco, e lo suo Santo nella fiamma; e la spina sua sarà accesa, e saranno divorati i suoi pruni in uno die.
18 He wil consume his luxuriant forest and productive ground, he will ravage body and soul: it wil be likea consumptive wasting away;	18 E la gloria del suo bosco e di Carmelo (cid è uno monte) dall' anima insino alla carne sarà consumata, e sarà fuggitivo per ispaventamento.
19 and what remain of the trees of his forest will be so few that a child could write their number.	19 E li rimasugli de' legni dello bosco suo saranno numerati per la loro povertà, e uno fanciullo sì li scriverà.
20 When that day comes, the remnant of Israel and the survivors of the House of Jacob will stop relyingon the man who strikes them and wil truly rely on Yahweh, the Holy One of Israel.	20 E sarà in quel dì, che non aggiugnerà rimanente ad Israel, e a quelli che saranno fuggiti della casa di Iacob, a confidarsi sopra colui il quale li percuote; ma si confiderà sopra lo Signore santo d'Israel nella verità.
21 A remnant will return, the remnant of Jacob, to the mighty God.	21 Le reliquie si convertiranno, dico quelle di Iacob, allo Signore forte.
22 Israel, though your people are like the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them wil return: adestruction has been decreed which wil make justice overflow,	22 E se il tuo popolo d' Israel sarà come la rena del mare, lo rimanente si convertirà di quello; la consumazione abbreviata farà abondare la giustizia.
23 for, throughout the country, the Lord Yahweh Sabaoth wil enforce the destruction now decreed.	23 Lo Signore delli eserciti farà la consumazione e la breviazione nel mezzo della terra.
24 That is why the Lord Yahweh Sabaoth says this: My people who live in Zion, do not be afraid ofAssyria! He may strike you with the rod, he may raise the club against you (on the way from Egypt),	24 E perciò dice lo Signore delli eserciti: non temere, popolo mio, tu abitatore di Sion, di Assur; egli percoterà te nella verga, e alzerà la sua bacchetta sopra te nella via di Egitto.
25 but in a very short time the retribution will come to an end, and my anger wil destroy them.	25 Ancora stando uno poco, e la mia indignazione e lo mio furore sarà compiuto sopra le fellonie loro.
26 Yahweh Sabaoth wil brandish a whip at him as he struck Midian at Oreb's Rock, wil brandish his rodat the Sea as he raised it on the way from Egypt.	26 E resusciterà lo Signore delli eserciti sopra lui la battitura secondo la piaga di Madian nella pietra di Oreb, e la sua verga sopra lo mare, e leveralla nella via di Egitto.
27 When that day comes, his burden will fal from your shoulder, and his yoke from your neck, and theyoke wil be destroyed . . .	27 E in quello dì sarà tolto il suo carico dello tuo omero, e lo suo giogo del tuo collo, e fraciderà lo giogo dalla faccia dell' olio.
28 He has reached Aiath, he has moved on to Migron, he has left his baggage train at Michmash.	28 Verrà in Aiat, e passerà per Magron; a lato a Macmas raccomanderà li suoi vasi.
29 They have passed through the defile, they have bivouacked at Geba. Ramah quaked, Gibeah of Saulhas fled.	29 E passarono per corso, (e dissono:) Gabaa è nostra sedia; Rama si maravigliò, e Gabaa di Saul fuggio.
30 Cry your loudest, Bath-Gal im! Pay attention, Laish! Answer her, Anathoth!	30 E però piagni con la tua voce, o tu figliuola di Gallim; attendi (cioè ascolta), Laisa, e tu poverella Anatot; (tutti questi sono nomi di terre, se non se Saul che fu uno uomo).
31 Madmenah has run away, the inhabitants of Gebim have taken cover.	31 Medemena passò e fuggì; però, abitatori di Gabim, confortatevi.
32 This very day, as he halts at Nob, he wil shake his fist at the mountain of the daughter of Zion, the hilof Jerusalem.	32 Ancora è il dì (grande) che potremo andare in Nobe; moverà la sua mano sopra lo monte della figliuola di Sion, lo colle di Ierusalem.
33 See how the Lord Yahweh Sabaoth violently lops off the foliage! The ones standing highest are cutdown, the proudest are laid low!	33 Ecco lo signoreggiatore Signore delli eserciti romperà la bariletta in spavento, e quelli che sono lunghi per istatura saranno tagliati, e i levati in alto saranno umiliati.
34 The forest thickets fal beneath the axe, and the Lebanon fal s to the blows of a Mighty One.	34 E le cose condense del bosco saranno rivolte sotto sopra col ferro; e lo Libano cadrà colle sue alte cose.
