Ezra 10

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA VOLGARE
1 While Ezra, weeping and prostrating himself in front of the Temple of God, was praying and makingconfession, a very large crowd of men, women and children of Israel gathered round him, the people weepingbitterly.	1 Così adunque pregando Esdra, e dimandando a Dio, e piagnendo e giacendo dinanzi al tempio di Dio, raunossi a lui grande popolo d' Israel, di uomini e di femine e di fanciulli; e pianse il popolo di grande pianto.
2 Then Shechaniah son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, spoke up and said to Ezra, 'We have beenunfaithful to our God by marrying foreign women from the people of the country. But, in spite of this, there is stillsome hope for Israel.	2 E rispose Sechenia figliuolo di Ieiel de' figliuoli di Elam, e disse ad Esdra: noi abbiamo prevaricato contro al Dio nostro, e abbiamo tolto per nostre mogliere le femine forestiere de' popoli delle terre (a noi proibite); e ora se si trova penitenza in Israel sopra di questo peccato,
3 We will make a covenant with our God to send away all the foreign wives and their children inobedience to the advice of my lord and of those who tremble at the commandment of our God. Let us act inaccordance with the Law.	3 facciamo patto con lo Signore Iddio nostro, e cacciamo fuori tutte le mogliere nostre, e tutti quelli che sono nati di loro, secondo la volontade del Signore; e facciasi secondo la volontade di quelli che temono il comandamento del nostro Signore Iddio.
4 Go ahead, do your duty; we support you. Be brave, take action!'	4 Lèvati, a te s' appartiene di (vedere e discernere e) giudicare, e noi saremo teco; confòrtati, e fa (quello che far si debba).
5 Then Ezra stood up and put the leading priests and Levites and all Israel on oath to do what had beensaid. They took the oath.	5 Levossi dunque Esdra, e scongiurò li prìncipi delli sacerdoti e delli Leviti e tutto Israel, che facesse secondo quello che era detto; e giurarono (di osservare).
6 Ezra then left his place in front of the Temple of God and went to the room of Jehohanan son ofEliashib, where he spent the night without eating food or drinking water, because he was stil mourning over theexiles' infidelity.	6 E levossi Esdra dinanzi la casa del Signore, e andò alla casa di Ioanan figliuolo di Eliasib, ed entrò ivi; non mangiò pane, e acqua non bevè; e piagnea per la transgressione di quegli che erano venuti di prigione.
7 A proclamation was issued throughout Judah and Jerusalem that al the exiles were to assemble inJerusalem,	7 E fu fatto uno comandamento in Giuda e in Ierusalem a tutti i figliuoli della transmigrazione (cioè che furono menati prigione), acciò che si congregassero in Ierusalem.
8 and that anyone who failed within three days to answer the summons of the officials and elders was toforfeit al his possessions and himself be excluded from the community of the exiles.	8 E tutti quelli che non verranno per ispazio di tre giorni, secondo lo consiglio de' principi e degli antichi, saragli tolta tutta la sua sostanza, e fia cacciato della compagnia di quelli che furono tradotti.
9 As a result, all the men of Judah and Benjamin assembled in Jerusalem within the three days; it wasthe twentieth day of the ninth month. Al the people sat down in the square in front of the Temple of God,trembling because of the matter in hand and because of the heavy rain.	9 Vennero dunque tutti gli uomini di Giuda c di Beniamin in Ierusalem per ispazio di tre dì, questo è il mese nono, a' venti dì del mese; e sedè tutto [il popolo] nella piazza della casa di Dio, tremando per cagione dello peccato suo, e per la pioggia.
10 The priest Ezra then stood up and said to them, 'You have been unfaithful and have married foreignwives, thus adding to Israel's guilt.	10 E levossi Esdra sacerdote, e disse a loro: voi avete preterito il comandamento di Dio, e avete condotto mogliere della gente proibita, e avete aggiunto peccato sopra lo peccato d'Israel.
11 So now give thanks to Yahweh, God of your ancestors, and do his will by holding aloof from thepeople of the country and from foreign wives.'	11 E ora promettete al Signore Iddio de' padri vostri, e fate quelle cose che gli è in piacere, e siate separati dalli popoli delle terre, e dalle mogliere che avete tolte dalli popoli delle terre.
12 In ringing tones, the whole assembly answered, 'Yes, our duty is to do as you say.	12 E tutta la moltitudine rispose, e disse con grande voce: secondo quello che tu hai detto a noi, così si facci.
13 But there are many people here and it is the rainy season; we cannot stay out in the open; besides,this is not something that can be dealt with in one or two days, since many of us have been unfaithful over this.	13 Ma perchè lo popolo è molto grande, ed è tempo di pioggia, e non si puote stare di fuori al discoperto, e questo non si può fare in uno ovvero due dì (ma bisogno è di più giorni); e certamente abbiamo peccato grandemente in questo;
14 Let our officials deputise for the whole community, and all the people in our towns who have marriedforeign wives can come at stated times, accompanied by elders and judges from each town, until our God'sfierce anger over this is turned away from us.'	14 siano constituiti principi in tutta la moltitudine; e tutti nelle nostre cittadi, i quali abbiano tolto moglie delle genti d' altrui, venghino alli tempi (statuti e) ordinati, e con loro li antichi per caduna città, e li suoi giudici, persino che l'ira di Dio sia tolta da noi sopra di questo peccato.
15 Only Jonathan son of Asahel and Jahzeiah son of Tikvah, supported by Meshul am and Shabbethaithe Levite, were opposed to this.	15 Adunque Ionata figliuolo di Azael, e Iaasia figliuolo di Tecue, furono instituiti sopra di questo, e Mesollam e Sebetai Leviti aiutavano loro;
16 The exiles did as had been proposed. And the priest Ezra selected the family heads of the variousfamilies, all of them by name, who began their sittings on the first day of the tenth month to look into the matter.	16 e fecero così li figliuoli della transmigrazione. E andossene Esdra sacerdote, e gli uomini prìncipi delle famiglie, nelle case delli padri loro, e tutti per li nomi suoi; e sederono nel primo dì del mese decimo per (cercare e) investigare questo fatto.
17 And by the first day of the first month they had dealt with al the men who had married foreign women.	17 E furono (discussi, terminati e) conosciuti tutti quelli uomini, i quali aveano tolto mogliere della gente d'altrui, persino al dì primo del primo mese.
18 Among the priests who were found to have married foreign wives were: of the sons of Jeshua son ofJozadak and his brothers: Maaseiah, Eliezer, Jarib and Gedaliah,	18 E furono trovati delli figliuoli delli sacerdoti, i quali aveano condotto mogliere estranee. Dei figliuoli di Iosue i figliuoli di Iosedec, e li suoi fratelli: Maasia ed Eliezer e Iarib e Godolia.
19 who agreed to send their wives away; their guilt offering was a ram from the flock for their guilt;	19 E tutti questi diedero le mani sue, promettendo di licenziare le sue mogliere, e che debbino offerire per lo peccato suo uno montone delle pecore.
20 of the sons of Immer: Hanani and Zebadiah;	20 E de' figliuoli di Emmer: Anani e Zebedia.
21 of the sons of Harim: Maaseiah, Elijah, Shemaiah, Jehiel and Uzziah;	21 E de' figliuoli di Arim: Maasia ed Elia e Semeia e Ieiel e Ozia.
22 of the sons of Pashhur: Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethanel, Jozabad and Elasah;	22 E de' figliuoli di Fesur: Elioenai, Maasia e Ismael, Natanael, Iozabed ed Elasa.
23 of the Levites: Jozabad, Shimei, Kelaiah -- that is, Kelita-Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer;	23 E de' figliuoli de' Leviti: Iozabed e Semei e Celaia, esso è Calita, Fataia, Iuda ed Eliezer.
24 of the singers: Eliashib and Zaccur; of the gatekeepers: Shal um, Telem and Uri;	24 E de' cantori: Eliasib; e delli portieri: Sellum e Telem e Uri.
25 and of the Israelites: of the sons of Parosh: Ramiah, Izziah, Malchijah, Mijamin, Eleazar, Malchijahand Benaiah;	25 E d' Israel, de' figliuoli di Faros: Remeia e Iezia e Melchia e Miamin ed Eliezer e Melchia e Banea.
26 of the sons of Elam: Mattaniah, Zechariah, Jehiel, Abdi, Jeremoth and Elijah;	26 E de' figliuoli di Elam: Matania, Zacaria e Ieiel e Abdi e Ierimot ed Elia.
27 of the sons of Zattu: Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, Jeremoth, Zabad and Aziza;	27 E de' figliuoli di Zetua: Elioenai, Eliasib, Matania e Ierimut e Zabad e Aziza.
28 of the sons of Bebai: Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, Atlai;	28 E de' figliuoli di Bebai: Ioanan, Anania, Zabbai, Atalai.
29 of the sons of Bigvai: Meshullam, Mal uch, Jedaiah, Jashub, Sheal, Jeremoth;	29 E de' figliuoli di Bani: Mosollam e Melluc e Adaia, Iasub e Saal e Ramot.
30 of the sons of Pahath-Moab: Adna, Chelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezalel, Binnui andManasseh;	30 E de' figliuoli di Faat Moab: Edna e Calal, Banaia e Maasia, Matania, Beseleel e Bennui e Manasse.
31 of the sons of Harim: Eliezer, Isshijah, Malchijah, Shemaiah, Shimeon,	31 E de' figliuoli di Erem: Eliezer, Iosue, Melchia, Semeia, Simeon,
32 Benjamin, Mal uch, Shemariah;	32 Beniamin, Maloc, Samaria.
33 of the sons of Hashum: Mattenai, Mattattah, Zabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasseh, Shimei;	33 De' figliuoli di Asom: Matanai, Matata, Zabad, Elifelet, Iermai, Manasse, Semei.
34 of the sons of Bani: Maadai, Amram, Uel,	34 De' figliuoli di Bani: Maaddi, Amram e Vel,
35 Benaiah, Bediah, Jeluhi,	35 Banea e Badaia, Cheliau,
36 Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib,	36 Vania, Marimut, Eliasib,
37 Mattaniah, Mattenai and Jaasau;	37 Matania, Matanai e Iasi,
38 of the sons of Binnui: Shimei,	38 e Bani e Bennui e Semei,
39 Shelemiah, Nathan and Adaiah;	39 e Salmia e Natan e Adaia,
40 of the sons of Zaccai: Shashai, Sharai,	40 Mecnedebai, Sisai, Sarai,
41 Azarel, Shelemiah, Shemariah,	41 Ezrel e Selemiau, Semeria,
42 Shallum, Amariah, Joseph;	42 Sellum, Amaria, Iosef.
43 of the sons of Nebo: Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, Jaddai, Joel, Benaiah.	43 De' figliuoli di Nebo: Ieiel, Matatia, Zabad, Zabina, Ieddu e Ioel e Banaia.
44 All these had married foreign wives but sent them away with their children.	44 Tutti questi aveano tolte mogliere forestiere; e furono di queste femine che aveano partorito figliuoli.
