1 Solomon was overlord of al the kingdoms from the River to the territory of the Philistines and theEgyptian border. They brought tribute and served him al his life long.	1 Соломон правив над усім царством від ріки Ефрат до Філістимлянської землі і до єгипетської границі. Вони приносили данину і служили Соломонові, покіль віку його.
2 The daily provisions for Solomon were: thirty measures of fine flour and sixty measures of meal,	2 Харчі ж Соломонові на кожен день були: 30 корців питльованої муки і 60 корців звичайної муки,
3 ten fattened oxen, twenty free-grazing oxen, one hundred sheep, besides deer and gazelles, roebucksand fattened poultry.	3 десять годованих волів, 20 волів з пасовиська, 100 овець, крім оленів, сарн і сугаків, та годованої птиці.
4 For he was master of al Transeuphrates -- of all the kings of Transeuphrates from Tiphsah to Gaza --and he enjoyed peace on al his frontiers.	4 Бо він панував над усією землею по тім боці Ріки від Тіфсаху до Гази, над усіма царями по тім боці Ріки, і мир був у нього навкруги по всіх границях.
5 Judah and Israel lived in security, everyone under his vine and his fig tree, from Dan to Beersheba,throughout the lifetime of Solomon.	5 Юда й Ізраїль жили собі безпечно, кожен під виноградиною своєю і під смоквою своєю, від Дану аж до Версавії, поки було віку Соломонового.
6 And Solomon had four thousand stal s of horses for his chariots and twelve thousand cavalrymen.	6 Було в Соломона 4000 переділів для коней до колісниць і 12 000 верхових коней.
7 These administrators provided the food for Solomon and for al those who were admitted by him to theroyal table, each for the period of a month; they ensured that nothing was wanting.	7 Оті начальники округ — кожен свого місяця — обчислювали потреби царя Соломона і всіх тих, що мали доступ до столу царя Соломона; не допускали, щоб чогось бракувало.
8 They also provided the barley and straw for the horses and draught animals, where required, eachaccording to the quota demanded of him.	8 Ячмінь і солому для коней, до сідла й до тягла, теж доставляли вони на місце, де кожний був, згідно з його розпорядженням.
9 God gave Solomon immense wisdom and understanding, and a heart as vast as the sand on the sea-shore.	9 Наділив Бог Соломона також мудрістю і вельми великим розумом, і серцем широким, мов пісок на березі моря,
10 The wisdom of Solomon surpassed the wisdom of al the sons of the East and al the wisdom of Egypt.	10 так, що мудрість Соломона була більша, ніж мудрість усіх синів Сходу, більша, ніж вся мудрість Єгипту.
11 He was wiser than anyone else, wiser than Ethan the Ezrahite, than the sons of Mahol, Heman, Calcoland Darda; his fame spread to all the surrounding nations.	11 Був він розумніший від усіх людей; розумніший від Етана, езрагіта, від Гемана, від Калкола й від Дарди, синів Махола. Слава про нього розійшлася по всіх народах навкруги.
12 He composed three thousand proverbs, and his songs numbered a thousand and five.	12 Він вирік 3000 приповісток, і 1005 пісень було в його.
13 He could discourse on plants from the cedar in Lebanon to the hyssop growing on the wal ; and hecould discourse on animals and birds and reptiles and fish.	13 Він знав говорити про дерева, від кедра на Ливані та й до іссопу, що виростає з муру; говорив і про четвероногого звіря і про птицю, і про повзуна, і про рибу.
14 Men from al nations came to hear Solomon's wisdom, and he received gifts from al the kings in theworld, who had heard of his wisdom.	14 І приходили з усіх народів послухати мудрість Соломона, і від усіх царів землі, що зачули про його мудрість.
15 Hiram king of Tyre sent an embassy to Solomon, having learnt that he had been anointed king insuccession to his father and because Hiram had always been a friend of David.	15 Як же почув Хірам, цар тирський, що Соломона помазано царем на місце його батька, послав слуг своїх до нього, бо Хірам завжди був щирим приятелем Давида.
16 And Solomon sent this message to Hiram,	16 Послав також і Соломон до Хірама сказати:
17 'You are aware that my father David was unable to build a temple for the name of Yahweh his God, onaccount of the wars waged on him from every side, until Yahweh put his enemies under the soles of his feet.	17 «Ти знаєш сам, що батько мій Давид не спромігся збудувати дім імені Господа, Бога свого, через війни, бо вороги були з усіх боків, покіль Господь не поклав їх йому під ноги.
18 But now Yahweh my God has given me peace on every side: not one enemy, no calamities.	18 Тепер же Господь, Бог мій, дав мені мир навкруги. Нема у мене противника, нема ніякої небезпеки.
19 I propose, then, to build a temple for the name of Yahweh my God, in accordance with what Yahwehtold my father David, "Your son whom I shall place on your throne to succeed you wil be the man to build atemple for my name."	19 От і задумав я збудувати дім імені Господа, Бога мого, як сказав Господь моєму батькові Давидові, словами: Твій син, якого я посаджу на престолі твоєму замість тебе, — той збудує дім моєму імені.
20 So now have cedars of Lebanon cut down for me; my servants wil work with your servants, and I shallpay for the hire of your servants at whatever rate you fix. As you know, we have no one as skil ed in felling treesas the Sidonians.'	20 Тож повели, щоб нарубали мені кедрини на Ливані; мої слуги будуть разом з твоїми слугами, плату за твоїх слуг даватиму тобі, яку б ти не призначив; сам бо знаєш, що у нас нема нікого, що вмів би так дерево рубати, як сидоняни.»
21 When Hiram heard what Solomon had said, he was delighted. 'Now blessed be Yahweh,' he said, 'whohas given David a wise son to rule over this great people!'	21 Почувши Хірам слова Соломонові, зрадів вельми та й каже: «Благословен сьогодні Господь, що дав Давидові мудрого сина над цим великим народом!»
22 And Hiram sent word to Solomon, 'I have received your message. For my part, I shall supply you withal you require in the way of cedar wood and juniper.	22 І послав Хірам до Соломона сказати: «Я вислухав, що ти просив у мене. Зроблю все, чого бажаєш із кедриною та кипарисом.
23 Your servants wil bring these down from Lebanon to the sea, and I shal have them towed by sea toany place you name; I shal discharge them there, and you wil take them over. For your part, you wil see to theprovisioning of my household as I desire.'	23 Слуги мої провадитимуть їх з Ливану до моря, і я повелю плотами гнати їх морем до місця, що мені вкажеш; там повелю їх розібрати, і ти забереш собі; тільки ти вволиш мою волю і постачиш харчі для мого двору.»
24 So Hiram provided Solomon with al the cedar wood and juniper he wanted	24 От відступив Хірам Соломонові кедрини та кипарису, скільки той забажав.
25 while Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand kor of wheat to feed his household, and twenty thousandkor of pure oil. Solomon gave Hiram this every year.	25 Соломон давав же Хірамові 20 000 корців пшениці на харчування його двору і 20 мір оливи з битих маслин. Стільки давав Соломон Хірамові щороку.
26 Yahweh gave Solomon wisdom as he had promised him; good relations persisted between Solomonand Hiram, and the two of them concluded a treaty.	26 Господь дав Соломонові мудрість, як обіцяв йому. Між Хірамом та Соломоном був мир, і вони обидва уклали союз між собою.
27 King Solomon raised a levy throughout Israel for forced labour: the levy numbered thirty thousand men.	27 Цар Соломон наклав громадські роботи на ввесь Ізраїль. 30 000 чоловік притягнено до громадських робіт.
28 He sent these to Lebanon in relays, ten thousand a month; they spent one month in Lebanon and twomonths at home. Adoram was in charge of the forced labour.	28 Він посилав їх на Ливан по 10 000 щомісяця, напереміну: по місяцю були вони на Ливані, а по місяцю вдома. Адонірам же був над громадськими роботами.
29 Solomon also had seventy thousand porters and eighty thousand quarrymen in the mountains,	29 Було у Соломона також 70 000 носіїв і 80 000 каменярів у горах,
30 as wel as the administrators, officials who supervised the work, three thousand three hundred of themin charge of the men employed in the work.	30 крім наставників, призначених Соломоном над роботою, щоб наглядали над робочим людом, а 3 300 було їх.
31 At the king's orders they quarried huge stones, special stones for the laying of the temple foundations,dressed stones.	31 Цар дав наказ ламати величезне, дороге каміння, — каміння тесане, щоб закласти підвалини храму.
32 Solomon's workmen and Hiram's workmen and the Giblites cut and assembled the wood and stone forthe building of the Temple.	32 А тесали їх робітники Соломонові й Хірамові та гівлії, і напоготовлювали дерево й каміння на будову храму.
