1 In the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam son of Nebat, Abijam became king of Judah	1 Ma nell'ottavo decimo anno del regno di Ieroboam, figliuolo di Nabat, regnò Abia sopra Giuda.
2 and reigned for three years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Maacah descendant of Absalom.	2 Tre anni regnò in Ierusalem; il nome della sua madre fu Maaca figliuola di Abessalom.
3 In everything he fol owed the sinful example of his father before him; his heart was not wholly withYahweh his God, as the heart of David his ancestor had been.	3 E andò per tutti i peccati del suo padre, che avea fatti dinanzi a lui; e non era il suo cuore perfetto con Iddio suo Signore, come fu il cuore di David suo padre.
4 However, for David's sake, Yahweh his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem, with a son to succeed him,so keeping Jerusalem secure;	4 Ma per David il Signore Iddio gli diede lucerna in Ierusalem, che suscitasse il figliuolo suo dopo lui, e stesse in Ierusalem.
5 for David had done what Yahweh regarded as right and had never in all his life disobeyed whatever hecommanded him (except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite).	5 Però che David avea fatta giustizia nel suo cospetto, e non avea declinato da tutte le cose che gli avea comandato, tutto il tempo della vita sua, fuori del fatto d' Uria Eteo.
6 .	6 Non di meno però guerra fu tra Roboam e Ieroboam, tutto il tempo della vita loro.

8 When Abijam fel asleep with his ancestors, he was buried in the City of David; his son Asa succeededhim.	8 E dormì Abia con i padri suoi; e seppellirlo nella città di David; e regnò per lui Asa suo figliuolo.
9 In the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Asa became king of Judah	9 E nel XX anno del regno di Ieroboam re d' Israel, regnò Asa re di Giuda
10 and reigned for forty-one years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Maacah descendant ofAbsalom.	10 XLI anno in Ierusalem. Il nome della madre fu Maaca figliuola d' Abessalom.
11 Asa did what Yahweh regards as right, as his ancestor David had done.	11 E fece Asa quello ch' era diritto nel cospetto del Signore, sì come David suo padre.
12 He drove the male prostitutes out of the country and got rid of all the idols which his ancestors hadmade.	12 E tolse via di tutta la terra gli effeminati (cioè sacerdoti pagani castrati), e purgò tutte le brutture degl' idoli, i quali aveano fatti i padri suoi.
13 He even deprived his grandmother Maacah of the dignity of Great Lady for having made an obscenityfor Asherah; Asa cut down her obscenity and burnt it in the ravine of the Kidron.	13 E anco Maaca sua madre rimosse, che non fosse principessa negli luoghi sacrati di Priapo, e nel bosco suo, il quale avea consecrato; e disfece la casa sua, e spezzò l' idolo sozzissimo, e arselo nel fiume di Cedron.
14 Though the high places were not abolished, Asa's heart was loyal to Yahweh throughout his life.	14 Ma i luoghi alti non tolse via: ed era il cuore di Asa perfetto col Signore tutto il tempo della sua vita.
15 He deposited his father's and his own dedicated gifts of silver, gold and sacred vessels in the Templeof Yahweh.	15 E quelle cose, che il suo padre avea santificate e votate nella casa di Dio, oro, argento e vasa, tutto egli diede.
16 Asa and Baasha king of Israel were at war with each other throughout their reigns.	16 Ed era guerra tra Asa, e Baasa re d' Israel tutto il tempo della vita sua.
17 Baasha king of Israel marched on Judah and fortified Ramah to blockade Asa king of Judah.	17 E andò Baasa re d' Israel in Giuda, ed edificò Rama', acciò che non potesse niuno di quegli di Asa re di Giuda nè entrare nè uscire.
18 Asa then took al the remaining silver and gold left in the treasuries of the Temple of Yahweh and theroyal palace. Entrusting this to his servants, King Asa sent them with the fol owing message to Ben-Hadad sonof Tabrimmon, son of Hezion, the king of Aram who lived in Damascus,	18 E Asa tolse tutto l'argento e l' oro, il quale era rimaso nel tesoro della casa di Dio e nel tesoro della casa del re, e diedelo in mano de' servi suoi; e mandollo a Benadad figliuolo di Tabremon figliuolo di Ezion, re di Siria, il quale abitava in Damasco, dicendo:
19 'Let us make an al iance between myself and yourself, between my father and your father! Look, Ihave sent you a gift of silver and gold. Come, break off your al iance with Baasha king of Israel, which wil makehim withdraw from me.'	19 Tra me e te, e tra il tuo padre e il mio sì è patto; e però io t' ho mandati doni [ argento] e oro; e domando che tu vegni, e togli via il patto che è tra te e Baasa re d' Israel, e (facciamo) che si parta da me.
20 Ben-Hadad listened favourably to King Asa, and sent the generals of his armies to attack the towns ofIsrael; he ravaged Ijon, Dan, Abel-Beth-Maacah, al Chinneroth, and the whole territory of Naphtali.	20 E consentendo Benadad al re Asa, mandò i principi del suo esercito nelle città d' Israel; e percosseno Aion e Dan e Abel, la casa di Maaca, e tutta Cennerot, cioè tutta la terra di Neftali.
21 When Baasha heard this he gave up fortifying Ramah and retired to Tirzah.	21 La quale cosa udita, Baasa lasciò lo edificare di Rama, e ritornò in Tersa.
22 King Asa then summoned al Judah, no one was exempt; they took away the stones and timber withwhich Baasha had been fortifying Ramah, and King Asa used them to fortify Geba of Benjamin and Mizpah.	22 E il re Asa mandò messaggi per tutto Giuda dicendo, che niuna persona fosse escusata. E tolsero le pietre di Rama e i legni, con i quali avea edificato Baasa; e fece di quelle il re Asa, Gabaa di Beniamin e Masfa.
23 The rest of the history of Asa, al his valour, his entire career, is this not recorded in the Book of theAnnals of the Kings of Judah? In his old age, however, he contracted a disease of his feet.	23 Tutto l'altro de' fatti di Asa, e tutta la sua fortezza, tutte le cose che fece, le città che edificò, non sono loro scritte nel libro (degli edificatori) de' dì e de' fatti de' re di Giuda? Ma nel tempo della sua vecchiezza gli dolse i piedi.
24 When Asa fell asleep with his ancestors, he was buried with his ancestors in the City of his ancestorDavid; his son Jehoshaphat succeeded him.	24 E dormi Asa con i padri suoi, e fu seppellito con esso loro nella città di David suo padre. E regnò per lui Iosafat suo figliuolo.
25 Nadab son of Jeroboam became king of Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and hereigned over Israel for two years.	25 E Nadab figliuolo di Ieroboam regnò sopra Israel l'anno secondo di Asa re di Giuda; e regnò sopra Israel due anni.
26 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh; he copied his father's example and the sin into which he hadled Israel.	26 E fece male nel cospetto del Signore, e andò per le vie del suo padre, e nelli suoi peccati, che fece peccare Israel.
27 Baasha son of Ahijah, of the House of Issachar, plotted against him and murdered him at Gibbethon,a Philistine town which Nadab and all Israel were besieging.	27 E insidiollo Baasa figliuolo di Aia della casa d'Issacar, e ferillo in Gebbeton, la quale è città de' Filistei; però che Nadab e tutto Israel aveano assediato Gebbeton.
28 Baasha kil ed Nadab and succeeded him in the third year of Asa king of Judah.	28 E ucciselo Baasa nel terzo anno di Asa re di Giuda, e regnò per lui.
29 No sooner was he king than he butchered the entire House of Jeroboam, not sparing a soul, and putan end to it, just as Yahweh had foretold through his servant Ahijah of Shiloh,	29 E regnando percosse tutta la casa, di Iero-. boam; e non lasciò solamente una anima del suo seme, tanto che l' ebbe disfatto secondo la parola di Dio, la quale egli hae detta per mano del suo servo Aia di Silo,
30 because of the sins which he had committed and into which he had led Israel, and because he hadprovoked the anger of Yahweh, God of Israel.	30 per li peccati di Ieroboam; ne' quali egli avea peccato, e fatto peccare Israel, [e per lo peccato] per lo quale aveva provocato lo Iddio loro contra a Israel.
31 The rest of the history of Nadab, his entire career, is this not recorded in	31 Tutto l'altro del fatto di Nadab, e tutte l'opere che fece, non sono loro scritte ne' libri dei fatti de' re d' Israel?
32 the Book of the Annals of the Kings of Israel?	32 E fu battaglia tra Asa e Baasa re d' Israel, tutto il tempo loro.
33 In the third year of Asa king of Judah, Baasha son of Ahijah became king of Israel at Tirzah fortwenty-four years.	33 Il terzo anno di Asa re di Giuda regnò Baasa, figliuolo di Aia, sopra tutto Israel in Tersa XXIIII [anni].
