NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	BIBLIA
1 I will stand at my guard post, and station myself upon the rampart, And keep watch to see what he will say to me, and what answer he will give to my complaint.	1 En mi puesto de guardia me pondré, me plantaré en mi muro, y otearé para ver lo que él me dice, lo que responde a mi querella.
2 Then the LORD answered me and said: Write down the vision Clearly upon the tablets, so that one can read it readily.	2 Y me respondió Yahveh y dijo: «Escribe la visión, ponla clara en tablillas para que se pueda leer de corrido.
3 For the vision still has its time, presses on to fulfillment, and will not disappoint; If it delays, wait for it, it will surely come, it will not be late.	3 Porque es aún visión para su fecha, aspira ella al fin y no defrauda; si se tarda, espérala, pues vendrá ciertamente, sin retraso.
4 The rash man has no integrity; but the just man, because of his faith, shall live. Wealth, too, is treacherous: the proud, unstable man--	4 «He aquí que sucumbe quien no tiene el alma recta, más el justo por su fidelidad vivirá».
5 He who opens wide his throat like the nether world, and is insatiable as death, Who gathers to himself all the nations, and rallies to himself all the peoples--	5 ¡Oh, ciertamente es traidora la riqueza! ¡Es hombre fatuo y no tendrá éxito el que ensancha como el seol sus fauces; como la muerte, él nunca se sacia, reúne para sí todas las naciones, acapara para sí los pueblos todos!
6 Shall not all these take up a taunt against him, satire and epigrams about him, to say: Woe to him who stores up what is not his: how long can it last! he loads himself down with debts.	6 ¿No profetizarán todos éstos sobre él una sátira, adivinanzas y enigmas sobre él? Dirán: ¡Ay de quien amontona lo que no es suyo (¿hasta cuándo?) y se carga de prendas empeñadas!
7 Shall not your creditors rise suddenly? Shall not they who make you tremble awake? You shall become their spoil!	7 ¿No se alzarán de repente tus acreedores, no se despertarán tus vejadores, y serás presa de ellos?
8 Because you despoiled many peoples all the rest of the nations shall despoil you; Because of men's blood shed, and violence done to the land, to the city and to all who dwell in it.	8 Por haber saqueado a naciones numerosas, te saqueará a ti todo el resto de los pueblos, por la sangre del hombre y la violencia a la tierra, a la ciudad y a todos los que la habitan.
9 Woe to him who pursues evil gain for his household, setting his nest on high to escape the reach of misfortune!	9 ¡Ay de quien gana ganancia inmoral para su casa, para poner su nido en alto y escapar a la garra del mal!
10 You have devised shame for your household, cutting off many peoples, forfeiting your own life:	10 ¡Vergüenza para tu casa has sentenciado: al derribar a muchos pueblos, contra ti mismo pecas!
11 For the stone in the wall shall cry out, and the beam in the woodwork shall answer it!	11 Porque la piedra grita desde el muro, y la viga desde el maderamen le responde.
12 Woe to him who builds a city by bloodshed, and establishes a town by wickedness!	12 ¡Ay de quien edifica una ciudad con sangre, y funda un pueblo en la injusticia!
13 Is not this from the LORD of hosts: peoples toil for the flames, and nations grow weary for nought!	13 ¿No viene de Yahveh Sebaot que los pueblos se fatiguen para el fuego y las gentes se agoten para nada?
14 But the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the LORD'S glory as water covers the sea.	14 ¡Pues la tierra se llenará del conocimiento de la gloria de Yahveh, como las aguas cubren el mar!
15 Woe to you who give your neighbors a flood of your wrath to drink, and make them drunk, till their nakedness is seen!	15 ¡Ay del que da de beber a sus vecinos, y les añade su veneno hasta embriagarlos, para mirar su desnudez!
16 You are filled with shame instead of glory; drink, you too, and stagger! On you shall revert the cup from the LORD'S right hand, and utter shame on your glory.	16 ¡Te has saciado de ignominia, no de gloria! ¡Bebe tú también y enseña tu prepucio! ¡A ti se vuelve el cáliz de la diestra de Yahveh, y la ignominia sobre tu gloria!
17 For the violence done to Lebanon shall cover you, and the destruction of the beasts shall terrify you; Because of men's blood shed, and violence done to the land, to the city and to all who dwell in it.	17 Pues la violencia hecha al Líbano te cubrirá y la matanza de los animales te aterrará, (por la sangre del hombre y la violencia a la tierra, a la ciudad y a todos los que la habitan).
18 Of what avail is the carved image, that its maker should carve it? Or the molten image and lying oracle, that its very maker should trust in it, and make dumb idols?	18 ¿De qué sirve una escultura para que su autor la esculpa, una imagen fundida, un oráculo engañoso, para que en ellos confíe el autor de tal obra haciendo ídolos mudos?
19 Woe to him who says to wood, "Awake!" to dumb stone, "Arise!" Can such a thing give oracles? See, it is overlaid with gold and silver, but there is no life breath in it.	19 ¡Ay de quien dice al madero: «Despierta», «Levántate», a la piedra muda! ¿Da ello algún oráculo? ¡Está, sí, cubierto de oro y plata, pero ni un soplo en su interior!
20 But the LORD is in his holy temple; silence before him, all the earth!	20 Mas Yahveh está en su santo Templo: ¡silencio ante él, tierra entera!
