Hosea 7

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 When I would bring about the restoration of my people, when I would heal Israel, The guilt of Ephraim stands out, the wickedness of Samaria; They practice falsehood, thieves break in, bandits plunder abroad.	1 Alors que je veux guérir Israël, se dévoilent la faute d'Ephraïm et les méchancetés de Samarie; car ilspratiquent le mensonge, le voleur entre dans la maison, une bande sévit au-dehors.
2 Yet they do not remind themselves that I remember all their wickedness. Even now their crimes surround them, present to my sight.	2 Et ils ne disent pas en leur coeur que je me souviens de toute leur méchanceté! Maintenant leursoeuvres les enserrent, elles sont devant ma face.
3 In their wickedness they regale the king, the princes too, with their deceits.	3 Par leur méchanceté ils égaient le roi, et par leurs mensonges, les chefs.
4 They are all kindled to wrath like a blazing oven, Whose fire the baker desists from stirring once the dough is kneaded until it has risen.	4 Tous sont adultères, ils sont comme un four brûlant que le boulanger cesse d'attiser depuis qu'il a pétrila pâte jusqu'à ce qu'elle ait levé.
5 On the day of our king, the princes are overcome with the heat of wine. He extends his hand among dissemblers;	5 Au jour de notre roi, les chefs se rendent malades par la chaleur du vin, et lui tend la main auxmoqueurs
6 the plotters approach with hearts like ovens. All the night their anger sleeps; in the morning it flares like a blazing fire.	6 quand ils s'approchent. Dans leur complot, leur coeur est semblable à un four; toute la nuit leur colèresommeille, au matin elle brûle comme un feu flamboyant;
7 They are all heated like ovens, and consume their rulers. All their kings have fallen; none of them calls upon me.	7 tous sont échauffés comme un four, ils dévorent leurs juges. Tous leurs rois sont tombés. Pas und'entre eux qui crie vers moi!
8 Ephraim mingles with the nations, Ephraim is a hearth cake unturned.	8 Ephraïm se mêle aux peuples, Ephraïm est une galette qu'on n'a pas retournée.
9 Strangers have sapped his strength, but he takes no notice of it; Of gray hairs, too, there is a sprinkling, but he takes no notice of it.	9 Des étrangers dévorent sa vigueur, et lui ne le sait pas! Même des cheveux blancs parsèment sa tête, etlui ne le sait pas!
10 The arrogance of Israel bears witness against him; yet they do not return to the LORD, their God, nor seek him, for all that.	10 (L'orgueil d'Israël témoigne contre lui; et ils ne reviennent pas vers Yahvé leur Dieu, avec tout cela,ils ne le cherchent pas!)
11 Ephraim is like a dove, silly and senseless; They call upon Egypt, they go to Assyria.	11 Ephraïm est une colombe naïve, sans cervelle; ils appellent l'Egypte, ils vont en Assur,
12 Even as they go I will spread my net around them, like birds in the air I will bring them down. In an instant I will send them captive from their land.	12 où qu'ils aillent, je déploierai sur eux mon filet, comme l'oiseau du ciel je les ferai tomber je lespunirai à cause de leur méchanceté.
13 Woe to them, they have strayed from me! Ruin to them, they have sinned against me! Though I wished to redeem them, they spoke lies against me.	13 Malheur à eux, parce qu'ils ont fui loin de moi! Ruine sur eux, parce qu'ils m'ont été infidèles! Et moi,je devrais les libérer, quand eux profèrent contre moi des mensonges?
14 They have not cried to me from their hearts when they wailed upon their beds; For wheat and wine they lacerated themselves, while they rebelled against me.	14 Ils ne crient pas vers moi du fond du coeur quand ils se lamentent sur leurs couches; pour du blé et duvin nouveau, ils se lacèrent, mais ils se rebellent contre moi.
15 Though I trained and strengthened their arms, yet they devised evil against me.	15 Et moi, j'avais fortifié leur bras, mais contre moi ils méditent le mal.
16 They have again become useless, like a treacherous bow. Their princes shall fall by the sword because of the insolence of their tongues; thus they shall be mocked in the land of Egypt.	16 Ils se tournent vers ce qui n'est rien, ils sont comme un arc trompeur. Leurs chefs tomberont sousl'épée à cause de la fureur de leur langue, et l'on se moquera bien d'eux au pays d'Egypte...
