1 After this first vision, I, Daniel, had another, in the third year of the reign of King Belshazzar.	1 Nel terzo anno del regno di Baltassar re mi apparve una visione. Io Daniele, dopo quello ch' io avea veduto nel principio,
2 In my vision I saw myself in the fortress of Susa in the province of Elam; I was beside the river Ulai.	2 vidi nella mia visione, essendo in lo castello chiamato Susis, lo quale è nella regione di Elam; io vidi in visione, e parvemi esser sopra la porta di Ulai.
3 I looked up and saw standing by the river a ram with two great horns, the one larger and newer than the other.	3 E levai gli occhi miei, e vidi; ed ecco, uno montone stava dinanzi la palude, e avea le corna grandi, e uno era più grande dell' altro, e fu crescente. Dopo questo
4 I saw the ram butting toward the west, north, and south. No beast could withstand it or be rescued from its power; it did what it pleased and became very powerful.	4 vidi lo montone ventilare con le corna (contro all' oriente e) contro all' occidente e contra l'aquilone e contra il mezzogiorno; e tutte le bestie non potéro resistere a lui, nè esser liberate delle mani sue; e fece secondo la sua volontade, e fu magnificato.
5 As I was reflecting, a he-goat with a prominent horn on its forehead suddenly came from the west across the whole earth without touching the ground.	5 E io intendeva; ed ecco, uno becco delle capre venia dall' occidente sopra la faccia di tutta la terra, e non toccava la terra; e questo becco avea uno corno nobile fra gli occhi suoi.
6 It approached the two-horned ram I had seen standing by the river, and rushed toward it with savage force.	6 E venne insino al montone cornuto, lo quale avea veduto stando dinanzi alla porta, e corse contro a lui coll' impeto (grande) della sua fortezza.
7 I saw it attack the ram with furious blows when they met, and break both its horns. It threw the ram, which had not the force to withstand it, to the ground, and trampled upon it; and no one could rescue it from its power.	7 E approssimandosi appresso il montone, isfrenato andò sopra lui, e percosse lo montone, e minuzzò le due corna sue, e non potea lo montone resistere a lui; e quando l' ebbe posto a terra, conculcollo, e niuno potea liberare lo montone delle mani sue.
8 The he-goat became very powerful, but at the height of its power the great horn was shattered, and in its place came up four others, facing the four winds of heaven.	8 E lo becco delle capre si fece grande molto; ed essendo cresciuto, si ruppe lo corno grande, e nascerono sotto quello quattro corna per i quattro venti del cielo.
9 Out of one of them came a little horn which kept growing toward the south, the east, and the glorious country.	9 E di uno di questi corni uscì fuori uno corno piccolo; e fatto è grande contro al mezzodì e contro all' oriente e contro alla fortezza.
10 Its power extended to the host of heaven, so that it cast down to earth some of the host and some of the stars and trampled on them.	10 E magnificossi sino alla fortezza del cielo; (e percosse) e abbassò dalla fortezza e dalle stelle, e conculcolle.
11 It boasted even against the prince of the host, from whom it removed the daily sacrifice, and whose sanctuary it cast down,	11 E magnificossi sino al principe della fortezza, e tolse da lui lo sacrificio continuo, e depose lo luogo di [sua] santificazione.
12 as well as the host, while sin replaced the daily sacrifice. It cast truth to the ground, and was succeeding in its undertaking.	12 E fugli data fortezza contra lo continuo sacrificio per i peccati; e sarà prostrata la verità e gettata a terra; e prospererà e farà (molti mali).
13 I heard a holy one speaking, and another said to whichever one it was that spoke, "How long shall the events of this vision last concerning the daily sacrifice, the desolating sin which is placed there, the sanctuary, and the trampled host?"	13 E udi' uno de' santi parlare; e disse uno santo all' altro, e non so a cui parlante: insino a quanto tempo durerà questa visione, e lo continuo sacrificio, e lo peccato della desolazione, la qual è stata fatta, e lo santuario e la fortezza sarà conculcata?
14 He answered him, "For two thousand three hundred evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary shall be purified."	14 Ed egli li rispose: insino al vespro e insino alla mattina, duomilia trecento [dì]; ? sarà mondato il santuario.
15 While I, Daniel, sought the meaning of the vision I had seen, a manlike figure stood before me,	15 E fatto questo, vedendo io Daniele la visione, e cercassi la intelligenza d'essa, ecco, stette nel mio conspetto quasi una similitudine d' uomo.
16 and on the Ulai I heard a human voice that cried out, "Gabriel, explain the vision to this man."	16 E udii la voce di uno uomo infra Ulai; ed esclamò e disse: o Gabriel, fa che questo uomo intenda questa visione.
17 When he came near where I was standing, I fell prostrate in terror. But he said to me, "Understand, son of man, that the vision refers to the end time."	17 E venne, e istette presso al luogo dove io stava; ed essendo venuto, ispaventato mi chinai nella faccia mia; e dissemi: o figliuolo d' uomo, intendi che la visione sarà compiuta nel tempo dello fine (della consumazione delle persecuzioni).
18 As he spoke to me, I fell forward in a faint; he touched me and made me stand up.	18 E conciosia cosa che parlasse a me, lasso cadetti chinato in terra; e toccommi, e levommi, e ridussemi nel grado mio.
19 "I will show you," he said, "what is to happen later in the period of wrath; for at the appointed time, there will be an end.	19 E dissemi: io ti dimostrerò quelle cose che debbono venire nell' ultimo della maledizione; però che il tempo ha lo fine suo.
20 "The two-horned ram you saw represents the kings of the Medes and Persians.	20 Lo montone, lo quale tu vedesti avere le corna, è lo re de' Medi e de' Persi.
21 The he-goat is the king of the Greeks, and the great horn on its forehead is the first king.	21 E lo becco delle capre (lo qual tu vedesti dopo questo) è lo re de' Greci; e lo corno grande, lo quale era fra gli occhi suoi, quello è lo re primo.
22 The four that rose in its place when it was broken are four kingdoms that will issue from his nation, but without his strength.	22 E che, questo rotto (e disfatto), si levassero quattro per lui, sono quattro re della loro gente, li quali si leveranno, ma non nella fortezza del primo.
23 "After their reign, when sinners have reached their measure, There shall arise a king, impudent and skilled in intrigue.	23 E dopo lo regno loro, essendo cresciute le iniquitadi, leverassi uno [re] sanza vergogna, e astuto molto nelle cose ch' egli averà a fare.
24 He shall be strong and powerful, bring about fearful ruin, and succeed in his undertaking. He shall destroy powerful peoples;	24 E la sua fortezza sarà fortificata, ma non nelle sue forze; e vasterà ogni cosa sopra quello che si può credere, e prospererà, e farà (molti mali). E ucciderà li potenti, e lo popolo de' santi,
25 his cunning shall be against the holy ones, his treacherous conduct shall succeed. He shall be proud of heart and destroy many by stealth. But when he rises against the prince of princes, he shall be broken without a hand being raised.	25 secondo la sua volontade, e sarà dirizzata la iniquità nelle mani sue; e magnificherà il cuore suo, e nella copia di molte cose ucciderà molta gente, e leverassi contro al principe de' principi, e sarà disfatto sanza mano.
26 The vision of the evenings and the mornings is true, as spoken; Do you, however, keep this vision undisclosed, because the days are to be many."	26 E la visione della mattina e del vespro, la qual è detta, vera è: tu dunque segna la visione, però che sarà dopo molti dì.
27 I, Daniel, was weak and ill for some days; then I arose and took care of the king's affairs. But I was appalled at the vision, which I could not understand.	27 E io Daniele rimasi languido e infermo per molti dì; ed essendomi levato, faceva li fatti del re, e istupivami alla visione, e non era chi me la manifestasse.
