Isaiah 13

1 An oracle concerning Babylon; a vision of Isaiah, son of Amoz.	1 Oracolo su Babilonia, ricevuto in visione da Isaia figlio di Amoz.
2 Upon the bare mountains set up a signal; cry out to them, Wave for them to enter the gates of the volunteers.	2 Su un monte brullo issate un segnale, alzate per essi un grido; fate cenni con la mano perché varchino le porte dei principi.
3 I have commanded my dedicated soldiers, I have summoned my warriors, eager and bold to carry out my anger.	3 Io ho dato un ordine ai miei consacrati; ho chiamato i miei prodi a strumento del mio sdegno, entusiasti della mia grandezza.
4 Listen! the rumble on the mountains: that of an immense throng! Listen! the noise of kingdoms, nations assembled! The LORD of hosts is mustering an army for battle.	4 Rumore di folla sui monti, simile a quello di un popolo immenso. Rumore fragoroso di regni, di nazioni radunate. Il Signore degli eserciti passa in rassegna un esercito di guerra.
5 They come from a far-off country, and from the end of the heavens, The LORD and the instruments of his wrath, to destroy all the land.	5 Vengono da un paese lontano, dall'estremo orizzonte, il Signore e gli strumenti della sua collera, per devastare tutto il paese.
6 Howl, for the day of the LORD is near; as destruction from the Almighty it comes.	6 Urlate, perché è vicino il giorno del Signore; esso viene come una devastazione da parte dell'Onnipotente.
7 Therefore all hands fall helpless, the bows of the young men fall from their hands. Every man's heart melts	7 Perciò tutte le braccia sono fiacche, ogni cuore d'uomo viene meno;
8 in terror. Pangs and sorrows take hold of them, like a woman in labor they writhe; They look aghast at each other, their faces aflame.	8 sono costernati, spasimi e dolori li prendono, si contorcono come una partoriente; ognuno osserva sgomento il suo vicino; i loro volti sono volti di fiamma.
9 Lo, the day of the LORD comes, cruel, with wrath and burning anger; To lay waste the land and destroy the sinners within it!	9 Ecco, il giorno del Signore arriva implacabile, con sdegno, ira e furore, per fare della terra un deserto, per sterminare i peccatori.
10 The stars and constellations of the heavens send forth no light; The sun is dark when it rises, and the light of the moon does not shine.	10 Poiché le stelle del cielo e la costellazione di Orione non daranno più la loro luce; il sole si oscurerà al suo sorgere e la luna non diffonderà la sua luce.
11 Thus I will punish the world for its evil and the wicked for their guilt. I will put an end to the pride of the arrogant, the insolence of tyrants I will humble.	11 Io punirò il mondo per il male, gli empi per la loro iniquità; farò cessare la superbia dei protervi e umilierò l'orgoglio dei tiranni.
12 I will make mortals more rare than pure gold, men, than gold of Ophir.	12 Renderò l'uomo più raro dell'oro e i mortali più rari dell'oro di Ofir.
13 For this I will make the heavens tremble and the earth shall be shaken from its place, At the wrath of the LORD of hosts on the day of his burning anger.	13 Allora farò tremare i cieli e la terra si scuoterà dalle fondamenta per lo sdegno del Signore degli eserciti, nel giorno della sua ira ardente.
14 Like a hunted gazelle, or a flock that no one gathers, Every man shall turn to his kindred and flee to his own land.	14 Allora, come una gazzella impaurita e come un gregge che nessuno raduna, ognuno si dirigerà verso il suo popolo, ognuno correrà verso la sua terra.
15 Everyone who is caught shall be run through; to a man, they shall fall by the sword.	15 Quanti saranno trovati, saranno trafitti, quanti saranno presi, periranno di spada.
16 Their infants shall be dashed to pieces in their sight; their houses shall be plundered and their wives ravished.	16 I loro piccoli saranno sfracellati davanti ai loro occhi; saranno saccheggiate le loro case, disonorate le loro mogli.
17 I am stirring up against them the Medes, who think nothing of silver and take no delight in gold.	17 Ecco, io eccito contro di loro i Medi che non pensano all'argento, né si curano dell'oro.
18 The fruit of the womb they shall not spare, nor shall they have eyes of pity for children.	18 Con i loro archi abbatteranno i giovani, non avranno pietà dei piccoli appena nati, i loro occhi non avranno pietà dei bambini.
19 And Babylon, the jewel of kingdoms, the glory and pride of the Chaldeans, Shall be overthrown by God like Sodom and like Gomorrah.	19 Babilonia, perla dei regni, splendore orgoglioso dei Caldei, sarà come Sòdoma e Gomorra sconvolte da Dio.
20 She shall never be inhabited, nor dwelt in, from age to age; The Arab shall not pitch his tent there, nor shepherds couch their flocks.	20 Non sarà abitata mai più né popolata di generazione in generazione. L'Arabo non vi pianterà la sua tenda né i pastori vi faranno sostare i greggi.
21 But wildcats shall rest there and owls shall fill the houses; There ostriches shall dwell, and satyrs shall dance.	21 Ma vi si stabiliranno gli animali del deserto, i gufi riempiranno le loro case, vi faranno dimora gli struzzi, vi danzeranno i sàtiri.
22 Desert beasts shall howl in her castles, and jackals in her luxurious palaces. Her time is near at hand and her days shall not be prolonged.	22 Ululeranno le iene nei loro palazzi, gli sciacalli nei loro edifici lussuosi. La sua ora si avvicina, i suoi giorni non saranno prolungati.
