Proverbs 2

1 My son, if you receive my words and treasure my commands,	1 Figliuolo mio, se tu accettarai i miei parlari, e i miei precetti asconderai appresso a te,
2 Turning your ear to wisdom, inclining your heart to understanding;	2 [acciò] che le tue orecchie audano la sapienza; inclina il cor tno a cognoscer la prudenza.
3 Yes, if you call to intelligence, and to understanding raise your voice;	3 Se tu invocherai la sapienza, e chinerai il cor tuo alla prudenza;
4 If you seek her like silver, and like hidden treasures search her out:	4 se tu la cercherai, come si cerca la pecunia, e caverai quella, come si cavano i tesori;
5 Then will you understand the fear of the LORD; the knowledge of God you will find;	5 allora intenderai lo timore del Signore, e la scienza di Dio troverai.
6 For the LORD gives wisdom, from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;	6 Per che il Signore dà la sapienza; e dalla bocca sua procede la scienza e prudenza.
7 He has counsel in store for the upright, he is the shield of those who walk honestly,	7 Custodirà la salute degli uomini retti, e defenderà quelli vivono con simplicitade,
8 Guarding the paths of justice, protecting the way of his pious ones.	8 quello il quale serva le vie della giustizia e le vie de' santi.
9 Then you will understand rectitude and justice, honesty, every good path;	9 Allora intenderai la giustizia, il giudicio, e la equitade e ogni buona via.
10 For wisdom will enter your heart, knowledge will please your soul,	10 Se la sapienza intrarà nel cuor tuo, e se la scienza piacerà all' anima tua,
11 Discretion will watch over you, understanding will guard you;	11 il consiglio ti custodirà, la prudenza ti salverà,
12 Saving you from the way of evil men, from men of perverse speech,	12 per tal modo che tu sarai liberato dalla mala via, e dagli uomini adulatori e detrattori;
13 Who leave the straight paths to walk in the way of darkness,	13 i quali abbandonano la via retta, e vanno per le vie tenebrose;
14 Who delight in doing evil, rejoice in perversity;	14 i quali si rallegrano quando hanno fatto male, e fanno festa nelle pessime operazioni;
15 Whose ways are crooked, and devious their paths;	15 de' quali le vie sono perverse, e la vita loro infame.
16 Saving you from the wife of another, from the adulteress with her smooth words,	16 Acciò che tu sia liberato della femina strana, e mogliere d'altrui, la qual persuade con dolci parole,
17 Who forsakes the companion of her youth and forgets the pact with her God;	17 e abbandona quello che la guberna (cioè il marito suo),
18 For her path sinks down to death, and her footsteps lead to the shades;	18 ed èssi dimenticata del comandamento di Dio; la casa sua è inclinata alla morte, e le vie sue allo inferno.
19 None who enter thereon come back again, or gain the paths of life.	19 Tutti quelli intrano a quella, non torneranno, nè si accosteranno alle vie della vita.
20 Thus you may walk in the way of good men, and keep to the paths of the just.	20 Acciò che tu vadi per la buona via; e sèguiti le operazioni degli uomini giusti.
21 For the upright will dwell in the land, the honest will remain in it;	21 Per che quelli, che sono retti, abiteranno nella terra, e gli simplici rimarranno in essa.
22 But the wicked will be cut off from the land, the faithless will be rooted out of it.	22 Ma gli empii si perderanno della terra; e quelli iniquamente òperano, si torranno. da quella.
