Psalms 18

1 For the leader. Of David, the servant of the LORD, who sang to the LORD the words of this song after the LORD had rescued him from the clutches of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.	1 Učitelju zbora. Od Jahvina sluge Davida koji Jahvi ispjeva ovu pjesmu u onaj dan kad ga Jahve oslobodi iz ruku neprijatelja i iz ruke Šaulove. On reče:
2 He said: I love you, LORD, my strength,	2 Ljubim te, Jahve, kreposti moja!
3 LORD, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer, My God, my rock of refuge, my shield, my saving horn, my stronghold!	3 Jahve, hridino moja, utvrdo moja, spase moj; Bože moj, pećino moja kojoj se utječem, štite moj, snago spasenja moga, tvrđavo moja!
4 Praised be the LORD, I exclaim! I have been delivered from my enemies.	4 Zazvat ću Jahvu, hvale predostojna, i od dušmana bit ću izbavljen.
5 The breakers of death surged round about me; the menacing floods terrified me.	5 Valovi smrti okružiše mene, prestraviše me bujice pogubne.
6 The cords of Sheol tightened; the snares of death lay in wait for me.	6 Užad podzemlja sputiše me, smrtonosne zamke padoše na me:
7 In my distress I called out: LORD! I cried out to my God. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry to him reached his ears.	7 u nevolji zazvah Jahvu i Bogu svome zavapih. Iz svog hrama zov mi začu, i vapaj moj mu do ušiju doprije.
8 The earth rocked and shook; the foundations of the mountains trembled; they shook as his wrath flared up.	8 I zemlja se potrese i uzdrhta, uzdrmaše se temelji górâ, pokrenuše se, jer On gnjevom planu.
9 Smoke rose in his nostrils, a devouring fire poured from his mouth; it kindled coals into flame.	9 Iz nosnica mu dim se diže, iz usta mu oganj liznu, ugljevlje živo od njega plamsa.
10 He parted the heavens and came down, a dark cloud under his feet.	10 On nagnu nebesa i siđe, pod nogama oblaci mu mračni.
11 Mounted on a cherub he flew, borne along on the wings of the wind.	11 Na keruba stade i poletje; na krilima vjetra zaplovi.
12 He made darkness the cover about him; his canopy, heavy thunderheads.	12 Ogrnu se mrakom kao koprenom, prekri se tamnim vodama i oblacima tmastim,
13 Before him scudded his clouds, hail and lightning too.	13 od blijeska pred licem njegovim užga se ugljevlje plameno.
14 The LORD thundered from heaven; the Most High made his voice resound.	14 Jahve s neba zagrmje, Svevišnjega glas se ori.
15 He let fly his arrows and scattered them; shot his lightning bolts and dispersed them.	15 Odape strijele i dušmane rasu, izbaci munje i na zemlju ih obori.
16 Then the bed of the sea appeared; the world's foundations lay bare, At the roar of the LORD, at the storming breath of his nostrils.	16 Morska se dna pokazaše, i temelji svijeta postaše goli od strašne prijetnje Jahvine, od olujna daha gnjeva njegova.
17 He reached down from on high and seized me; drew me out of the deep waters.	17 On pruži s neba ruku i mene prihvati, iz silnih voda on me izbavi.
18 He rescued me from my mighty enemy, from foes too powerful for me.	18 Od protivnika moćnog mene oslobodi, od dušmana mojih jačih od mene.
19 They attacked me on a day of distress, but the LORD came to my support.	19 Navališe na me u dan zlosretni, ali me Jahve zaštiti,
20 He set me free in the open; he rescued me because he loves me.	20 na polje prostrano izvede me, spasi me jer sam mu mio.
21 The LORD acknowledged my righteousness, rewarded my clean hands.	21 Po pravednosti mojoj Jahve mi uzvrati, po čistoći ruku mojih on me nagradi,
22 For I kept the ways of the LORD; I was not disloyal to my God.	22 jer čuvah putove Jahvine, od Boga se svoga ne udaljih.
23 His laws were all before me, his decrees I did not cast aside.	23 Odredbe njegove sve su mi pred očima, zapovijedi njegove nisam odbacio,
24 I was honest toward him; I was on guard against sin.	24 do srži odan njemu sam bio, čuvam se grijeha svakoga.
25 So the LORD rewarded my righteousness, the cleanness of my hands in his sight.	25 Jahve mi po pravdi mojoj vrati, čistoću ruku mojih vidje.
26 Toward the faithful you are faithful; to the honest you are honest;	26 S prijateljem ti si prijatelj, poštenu poštenjem uzvraćaš.
27 Toward the sincere, sincere; but to the perverse you are devious.	27 S čovjekom čistim ti si čist, a lukavca izigravaš,
28 Humble people you save; haughty eyes you bring low.	28 jer narodu poniženu spasenje donosiš, a ponižavaš oči ohole.
29 You, LORD, give light to my lamp; my God brightens the darkness about me.	29 Jahve, ti moju svjetiljku užižeš, Bože, tminu moju obasjavaš:
30 With you I can rush an armed band, with my God to help I can leap a wall.	30 s tobom udaram na čete dušmanske, s Bogom svojim preskačem zidine.
31 God's way is unerring; the LORD'S promise is tried and true; he is a shield for all who trust in him.	31 Savršeni su puti Gospodnji, i riječ je Božja ognjem kušana. On, samo on, štit je svima koji se k njemu utječu.
32 Truly, who is God except the LORD? Who but our God is the rock?	32 Jer tko je Bog osim Jahve? Tko li je hridina osim Boga našega?
33 This God who girded me with might, kept my way unerring,	33 Taj Bog me snagom opasuje, stere mi put besprijekoran,
34 Who made my feet swift as a deer's, set me safe on the heights,	34 noge mi dade brze k’o u košute i postavi me na visine čvrste,
35 Who trained my hands for war, my arms to bend even a bow of bronze.	35 ruke mi za borbu uvježba i mišice da lûk mjedeni napinju.
36 You have given me your protecting shield; your right hand has upheld me; you stooped to make me great.	36 Daješ mi štit svoj koji spasava, tvoja me desnica drži, tvoja me brižljivost uzvisi.
37 You gave me room to stride; my feet never stumbled.	37 Pouzdanje daješ mom koraku, i noge mi više ne posrću.
38 I pursued my enemies and overtook them; I did not turn back till I destroyed them.	38 Pognah svoje dušmane i dostigoh, i ne vratih se dok ih ne uništih.
39 I struck them down; they could not rise; they fell dead at my feet.	39 Obaram ih, nè mogû se dići, padaju, pod nogama mi leže.
40 You girded me with strength for war, subdued adversaries at my feet.	40 Ti me opasa snagom za borbu, a protivnike moje meni podloži.
41 My foes you put to flight before me; those who hated me I destroyed.	41 Ti dušmane moje u bijeg natjera, i rasprših one koji su me mrzili.
42 They cried for help, but no one saved them; cried to the LORD but got no answer.	42 Vapiju u pomoć – nikog da pomogne; vapiju Jahvi – ne odaziva se.
43 I ground them fine as dust in the wind; like mud in the streets I trampled them down.	43 Smrvih ih kao prah na vjetru, zgazih ih k’o blato na putu.
44 You rescued me from the strife of peoples; you made me head over nations. A people I had not known became my slaves;	44 Ti me izbavi od bune u mom narodu, postavi me glavarom pogana, puk koji ne poznavah služi mi.
45 as soon as they heard of me they obeyed. Foreigners cringed before me;	45 Svaki moj šapat pokorno on sluša, sinovi tuđinci meni laskaju;
46 their courage failed; they came trembling from their fortresses.	46 sinovi tuđinski gube srčanost, izlaze dršćuć’ iz svojih utvrda.
47 The LORD lives! Blessed be my rock! Exalted be God, my savior!	47 Živio Jahve! Blagoslovljena hridina moja! Neka se uzvisi Bog, spasenje moje!
48 O God who granted me vindication, made peoples subject to me,	48 Bog koji mi daje osvetu i narode meni pokorava.
49 and preserved me from my enemies, Truly you have exalted me above my adversaries, from the violent you have rescued me.	49 Od dušmana me mojih izbavljaš i nad protivnike me moje izdižeš, ti mene od čovjeka silnika spašavaš.
50 Thus I will proclaim you, LORD, among the nations; I will sing the praises of your name.	50 Zato te slavim, Jahve, među pucima i psalam pjevam tvome imenu:
51 You have given great victories to your king, and shown kindness to your anointed, to David and his posterity forever.	51 umnožio si pobjede kralju svojemu, pomazaniku svome milost si iskazao, Davidu i potomstvu njegovu navijeke.
